Calculus Draft Clarification... If you choose to protect a player and you have lost that pick via a trade (which we haven't actually discussed trading picks in trades) you must use the previous round. Example: You want to keep a #10 rounder and have traded your #7 pick next year. To keep him you must use a 6th.

2 things we need to decide on.

1. We have 16 rounds this year, next year we have 12, so your a #16 pick will cost 13 rounder doesn't exist. So:
a. 16 round keeper cost you a 12th. or
b. 16 round keeper is Free.

2. Free Agent Pickups. They can be quite valuable so I don't think these should be free to keep. So:
a. Free Agent be given a value 10-12. 7-9 to keep.
b. Free Agent be given a value 13-15. 10-12 to keep.

Simple majority rules vote. After we decide #2, we'll vote again to decide a specific value. Cool?

I think another vote topic should be trading picks...

I love being able to trade players for picks in upcoming drafts and getting picks in return. It's very fun and much like a real GM would or could do. For instance this offseason I had Holt and Moss and could only keep one, a guy offered me the first pick overall for Moss... it really makes you think! Especially in our new league where this will affect you for years to come! (BTW - I did trade Moss) Do you sacrifice some picks next year to make a run this year? That kinda stuff.

Voting Yes may or may not cause issues with using Sportsline's live draft. In another league I play, we have this rule in effect and we do our draft away from Sportsline and then enter in the teams manually. Our Commish never complains (and he does about everything else) so it musn't be too hard! ;-)

Guys, we have all got to put some effort into getting our picks in on time ...let's all try to meet in the draft room @ one time so we can get a few rounds in. Missing 1 person will screw it up unless they set themselves on Que. So if we could set up a nice time for tomorrow (sunday) (anywhere between Noon and whenever) we could get a few rounds swept under the rug ... Hopefully everyone will have some time free tomorrow so we can get some work done! (Ahman Green & Terell Owens! Not a bad way to start off a franchise) ;)

Well I'm logged onto the draft ....I'll be logged on ALL day ...i'm just cooking a pot of coffee and about to read the news paper (They just cracked down some illegal dog sasuage plant here in Toronto, there's this poor cute little puppy on the front of the paper with no eyeball :( (I still can't understand how humans can actually eat hot dogs when they know the stuff inside is the most rotten sewage nasty intestine testicle, eyeball filled goop. Settin up to have a nice hot bubble bath with my brew and newspaper (i got the house to myself!!!) whoo hoo can we say naked homer!! Anyways hope to see most of u in the draft room today!!

If u don't know how to do that it's very simple just post here and we'll show u how it's done. Some people are taking too long and no one is using the draft que! Just have a couple of questions. What is the rush with draft? The season doesn't start for 2 weeks. I was online at 7:30 est and not much had happened. I was still several picks away and I come back 1.5 hrs later and I am stuck with Grbac. I want to cry fowl. Who decided this for me? How does Grbac go in the 3rd and Gannon in the 6th something smells fishy. Show me one projection out there that has grbac rated as the 8th best qb and ahead of Brooks, Farve, and Gannon. This is even more fishy. I turned on my autopilot after that and it was ignored. My picks after that were pretty fair, but you can pretty much look at the teams and decide who actucally particpated in this quick draft for the league. Why did not wait to do this during the week, when everybody could say they would be there?

Crying fowl? It was the consensus pick. Grbac will have to throw this year, as most of the Baltimore TD's will come through the air.

We EMAILED everyone. It was set to be at that time. The email also aked, if you could que your picks if you werent going to be there.

I cant explain why your Autodraft didnt work- mine did, when I didnt want it to.

Why couldnt this be done during the week? Because we agreed to it for tonight. It worked for most people, and I do believe you agreed as well.

Were we supposed to sit there for 12 hours, every pick, for G dogg, who has not showed up?

Time restraints made us have to do us. In drafts like this majority rules, and the majority decided this was how it was going to be.

Its not like Grbac is horrible. Your other players are very good.

What happened was that Grbak was picked for u by the commish ...and after that we all (those who were at the draft) said that it wasn't a good pick, but by then it was too late ...all the picks there after were voted upon by everyone there ... We told everyone to be online at 7 and to stick around ... u didn't show up all night after that bro so I don't think it's anyones fault. Grbak is a solid QB and Gannon slipped we all totally forgot the guy was still around ... You can still pick up Mcnair and have a solid tandom of QB's ...I think ur other picks were more then fair considering u wern't there ... we knew some guys wern't going to like there picks but come on we've been sending out emails and posting for days to get this in order so I think it's more then fair ... One player won't change much these final rounds are the most important ....good luck

Monk - I voted for Gannon in that spot for you. The consensus was Grbac though. I dunno if the dynasty aspect played a role as Gannon is older or what???

I'm curious would Gannon have been your guy there at #33??? I couldn't beleive it when he was there for my pick #53... The reason I ask is that if he was indeed your pick (he was the next highest on my sheet at that time), you can have him!!! Throw Grbac back in the mix and I'll take another QB. I'd have to think about who it would be, but if that helps... It's proven to be tough to get everyone online at the same time, so I'd rather do this (and keep peace) than redraft.

As for Auto Pilot... it didn't seem to be working when we got to the first no shows. So after that the assumption may have been that it wouldn't work.

As for fishy, I really don't think anyone was trying to "stick" anybody else with bum picks. That's actually why we stopped when we did as the "sleepers" are more obscure and difficult to predict. Most early rounds are more predictable.

kev took Couch after my pick of QB... but that wouldn't have been my guy anyways! :-)

So the only people it may have affected in the draft would be those who may have taken Grbac in between #33 and now...

Also, I think the commish (tdunc) did a good job and the best he could under not so great circumstances. He was taking some "heat" in the chat room.

Once I read the emails I understand a little better. I didn't check my emails. I was online last night at about 7:30 est. I figured that I was an half hour late and not many picks had been done that nothing was going to change. I even made a post at that time and waited a minute or two and was gone. I am just disgruntled over Grbac 33 pick overall. I think I would have rolled the dice and taken a RB with some many decent qb on the board at that time and taken my qb in the 4th which would have stuck me with Gannon. I also don't like hearst but I can understand why he was picked. I will survive but I think other people would be complaining with Grbac and hearst. So when are we going to do this again, i would prefer more notice and on a weekday. I suggest we finish the draft Tuesday night 6pm est.

he is the deal: I just got e-mail from the CBS support, the auto picks didn't work, because I changes the draft time during the draft, something I'm not suppose to do. so basicly this draft is technichly f*cked up also. I do'nt think we have another option then to redraft.

I don't know if this is a good idea but maybe change the draft order,so we don't know teams biases or strategies. I am was very pleased with my 1 & 2nd rd picks. This would slow down the first couple of rds, but if we have a timelimit it should not be a big deal. I would lobby for Tuesday night either 5:00 est- 6:00 est or 11 est.

I spent the entire god damn afternoon and evening at that draft and I put a lot of time and effort into it, now I have to pay for it because some people didn't show up to a draft we've been setting up for so long, but whatever if we do a live draft and someone doesn't show up the same garbage is gonna happen again .... i guess we all vote, If the majority pick to redraft then I'm fine with it.

White tiger, it just isn't me. I said I would stick with my team but would rather redraft. Enough notice. No way. I was online friday night and Saturday night and Sunday night. If people were not online Friday night that might not have known about Saturday and so forth. Email is only affective if it is check and I don't check my email over the weekend unless notified ahead of time. I save that for work since most of my emails are for work. Like I said before, I will live with my team.

I just found out I won't be around sat-mon of the upcoming weekend. blows big time. So we're going to have to get this done by friday. any draft start time after 9pm is a no go for me, tuesday and thursday before 7:30pm is a no go. morning's are good for me up until a start time of 12:15pm. sorry but i have a tight schedule, I thought we'd be more than half way done by now.

Man, we need a web MSOutlook Scheduler or something to figure a draft time... I have meetings Tues a.m., but can set up my que if needed. However, I'd rather lose some sleep though and do it later than take my chances with a que. Would'nt want 3 WR's is the first 4 rounds, ya know! :P

I do know that we could keep the current selections into a new draft and continue on from there, but at that point we may as well start over, it'll just be an extra hour and a half...

we could'nt agree on a close date, so I set the draft to monday sep 3, at 7:30pm ET. the pick limit will be 3 minutes. a week is a long time to prepare, if you can't make it, set a que.

TDuncan try to set something official (ie make everyone e-mail u whether they will be there or not) then do a little post up to make sure everyone is on track. Let's do this right so that there are no mistakes this time. If someone say's they can't make it but set a que that's great but if someone say's they will be there and then don't show up and screw the whole thing up I think they should be thrown out of the league and we should have 1 or 2 back up gurupies ready to draft that night incase someone (who "said" they would be there doesn't show up) That way nothing goes wrong. Someone might get angry if they lose there team this way but I think it shows a lot about how seriously this person is willing to take this league and will save us the hastle of having to deal with "dead" teams throughout the season. I'm sure we could find two dedicated gurupie members (I think I could get Deepsnapper to join if the draft time is o.k. for him) Just my 2 cents, cause so far some people arnt' showing the same dedication as others, guys like Tduncan, PsCommish, Kev, Diamon Dawgs and Strike One have shown dedication to this league and have had several posts and i've seen them around in discussion, @ the draft etc. .If EVERYONE in this league took this as serious we will have an EXTREME blast because I can tell some of u guys will be great to play with. I've seen GREAT leagues get destroyed there first season because 1 or 2 of the members don't take it as seriously as the rest, no offence to those who can't give 110% attention to this league, I totally understand (I used to have a full time job too u know ;) but I mean I don't think it's fair to the rest of us if ur only going to take this league as "something 2 do" I'm sure during this week hiatus till the draft we could find other serious gamers who would LOVE to find a spot in a league like this. Anyhow just my 2 cents I just want this league to be a blast for everyone. I've been in a lot of serious Baseball and Basketball Keeper leagues, and I am telling u it can be the most fun thing u have ever experienced (watching a Colts game when u have Edge in a league where the competition is fierce and the members all become an internet family, I'm telling u there's nothing like it in the world. If this league takes off and last 5,6,7 who know's 10 YEARS! We will all get to know about each others lives and I'm telling u beating up on guys u actually "know" and care about is the most fun u'll ever have. I've been in a keeper baseball leage since I was 15 (I'm 23 now) and believe me when I won the Championship 3 years in a row (97,98,99) I felt like a king amongst kings. I have the momentos on my wall as keepsakes ;) (I make a giant bristol board championship poster using baseball cards of all the players on my team) Even guys who only played awhile, might have been traded, etc etc on the bottom (minor guyts) the starting lineup across the top, My Mvp highlighted in Gold in the center ...aaaah 2 bad my team is now in the rebuilding years ha (1oth in a 12 team league) :( ANyhow just my two cents) Good luck @ the draft everyone!

We should completely redraft. I'll try and be there at 7:30 pm on monday but i can't guarantee anything since i'll away on the weekend and i'm not sure what time i'll get home. I'll do my best to set my queue. Don't worry though, I'll still be highly active even if my draft sucks.

I'm strongly advise everyone to create both rankings, and draft queue. in a fast live draft, there isn't much time to think. you need to move fast.

Hey guys! I spoke to my Fantasy Sports Site partner, and he'd be willing to be an alternate guy! He actually started the league I'm in about 8 years ago and was commissioner for a few years. He has been competetive most years. (He's had a bad string of injury bugs, from Terrell Davis, Duce Staley, to Dyson and Jamal Lewis was to be his keeper this year - yikes!) This was the group that first got me started down the path to Fantasy Sport Addiction Disorder!

He's expecting baby # 2 any day now... By Monday she should pop - so he'd be a "game time" need-based decision! :-)

I have been told that you can't actually "trade" picks on CBS. I suppose you could and then have then make the appropriate picks for each other. The actual players selected would then be traded in CBS' eyes.

That's why we do our draft offline and then just enter in the teams... we have some hyper-active tradesmen in our league! The phrase this year was "Anyone wanna trade up?"

I mean, I would trade the #1 pick, if I was garunteed a player coming back- that is why I wait till the picks are done, then trade.
