Damn. Here I've got top WW priority snd I've scoured the tips and found only one guy barely worth grabbing. I'm going to be interested to see who everybody else takes...in about a minute.

Well Toral,

My list was picked clean by the time it got to me. I got my #5 choice. I guess I want him... But, does that mean I can find "talent" or that there is not that much talent out there to be picked? This is a crazy season!

Crazy season is right. By the time my guys are healthy/playing to expectations I'll likley be out of the playoffs. Now have 8 WR trying to find 3 that can get me points. Now is the time I need to win the close ones instead of losing them. But that's how it goes. Perhaps the Fantasy God are doing me a favor. Two years ago I am the league runner up. Last year I win the league if not for Westbrook taking a knee on the 1. This year they want to spare the close calls!!!

Judy-On one hand it would be unique for the Mets to repeat their collapse of 2007, and that would certainly help people forget the '64 Phillies (I think it was 1964). However the Mets have karma on their side as this is their last season in Shea Stadium. The spirits of Gene Mauch, Casey Stengel, and Gil Hodges (the most glaring absence from the HOF) are all interacting, and the Mets will finish ahead of the Phillies. Your only hope for the post season is the wild card.-l

I had world series tickets for 1964. The day I went off to college they started losing.
Bunning did his perfect game on my birthday that year. I wouldn't let anyone else into the
room to watch it.

We shall see how this week develops. You guys have the cubbies and marlins to contend
with.

NB. I also had Pirates world series tix in 1992. Where were you when Sid slid???

Even though I hread that LT2 will get max 15 carries, I still started him over Perry because I figured with the NYG D, he wouldn't score...WRONG!

At like 5 mins before deadline I took Parrish out of the lineup because he has been banged up and I put in Stuckey...Parrish does almost nothign all game until late where he scores...OOOPS! Jury is still out on Stuckey though.

I had Philly D in but figured the Rams can't do squat...so put Hawks back in...Oh well.

I sitll scored well, but now finding myself having to score even more tomorrow. I SHOULD do it but you just never know how LT2 is gonna be or if Stuckey will even catch a ball out of the slot. I think I will get enough as the scores stand now, but they seem to always shift overnight so I don't know. But it looks like I should get at least one win for sure.

Some scoreboard watching tonight for:
TB v YR
Titans v B7
Ghostwood v Titans
s R v YR

For a QB league, yesterday was really odd: 3 QB (Warner, Cutler and O'Sullivan) had 2 TD's; 3 QB (Delhomme, Big Ben, and
Rodgers) had none; and the rest had only one! WOW!

lol at not knowing how many points a TD pass is.

I would like to know how many points you get for a tackle/force fumble/fumble recovery. I had two of those last night and it looks like they won me both games.

I'm a sitting duck for Ref. One of those unlucky situations where I score second highest point total and play the team with the highest.

The good news is all my RB look good and my backup QB has looked start worthy the last 2 weeks. After week one, I almost kicked him to the curb.

On a Reggie Bush fumble yesterday, my IDP picked it up and ran it back for a TD. Angst to joy in less than 10 seconds, watching that happtn.

Well, I'll only be 1-1, but at least 5/6 of my skill performers did *something*. That's a start.

My DE pickup, promoted as a good choice, great matchup on more than a few IDP boards, scored 0.00. My IDP weakness is starting to sting, and I'll have to figure out something to do about it. Perhaps trade one of my 12 RBs for a solid IDP. Or I could wait till late in the season when I'm out of the playoffs, and own 8 starting RBs, which would be fun, I guess.

DH
Solo Tackle = 1
FF = 2
FR = 1

Sack = 3

so I guess one guy, like Dawkins yesterday, should be getting 6 total points for his strip of Big Ben.

Ref-When I last checked Live Scoring, I had lost to you by about 2 points and kicking myself for starting Porter (0.60 points) instead of Walter (19.60 points) at WR. After reading your post, I went to Fanball and saw that I ended up beating you by 0.72 points despite Suggs' performance and Heap's nonperformance.

I am feeling better about my team now that Favre seems to be adjusting to the Jets' offense and wide receivers. He will never put up Brady's numbers, but he certainly looked good on Sunday wearing the uniform of the original NY Titans. Now if I can avoid more injuries to major players, and if the NE DEF can play like the NE DEF, I think that my team will do well. Of course I probably just jinxed myself and will not win another game this season.

loki: I was thinking when I was watching the Jets' game that you must be ecstatic wearing the Titans' oldie uniforms. I was surprised they were so dull; I was expeccting a real Titan on the helmet, making fun of the "Giants".

Everubody ought to get ready for the forthcoming 50th anniversary of the AFL's founding . There wull be uniform and general craziness of all kinds.

I think the Broncos once wore their original unis, which included an amazing look of horizontal-striped socks, which aroused the derision of everyone else in the league. (But they were available cheap, and early AFL teams often struggled to meet their payroll.) The merger only came after lamar hunt agreed to put his whole fortune behind the AFL's Al-Davos designed scheme to sign NFL stars to future contracts after their contracts had run out.

Toral-The TV commentators made a very interesting point--When highlights of Bret Favre's career are shown in the future, his 6 TD performance will be in a uniform that virtually no one will recognize. This will also make a very good sports trivia question.

So does the waiver wire reset at any point this season? It is based currently on reverse record. Will it ever switch so that when you pick someone up you drop to the end of the line? It is very frustrating to never get anybody on my list. Although I guess I can't complain too much since it means I am winning. But my winning sure seems flukelike so far so I would love to get someone off of waivers someday.

I forget after which week (6?) but it eventually stops going by position in the standings. It then resets, and for the rest of the way every time you make a successful claim you go to the bottom.

DH-Before getting too excited, take a look at B-7's game against Eville. There is something wrong with Live Scoring tonight.

If someone knows Peter N, they should contact him. Hopefully all is OK, but he started 2 players with byes this week.

I know Pete has been really busy with rl--but I'm wondering if the same thing happened to him as it did me. I got Woodson on WW and know I started him. That was the day that fanball was acting up so don't konw. Then I hit live scoring today and it had him back on the bench with a bye week player in. Thought that was weird because I had two DBs in last week. Anyhow, I just dropped a WR and picked up another scrub DB who hadn't played yet. Won't have any bearing on anything as I can't catch one team and I am way ahead of the other.

I've email Pete. He last checked his lineup on 9-24/5 (I can't read the small print.)

I noticed that FanBall was down right before the 1 o'clock kickoffs. Good thing that Westie was active (although
thanks to Andy, it made little difference), as I would not have been able to make a change.

LOKI -- B7 started 2 different lineups -- DeAngelo sat in one, ran like crazy in the other, same at QB (Griese v
Delhomme).

My worst week yet -- Moss and Carlson bageled, Royal (ankle) carted off in 1st period, no TD for McNabb (while
Orton has his life time best...), 4 touches for Jackson, Akers misses again. I think I need a redraft.

Well with 6 straight losses, some broken ribs, chest contusions, broken elbow, sore/torn thumb and ankle
ligaments, lack of kicking power, tackles and sacks, one needs to take dire actions!

And none of my games were even close! Although I hate to lose by a few (cf Ref), losing by a lot is

I was in two close races this week. One in this league one in another. This league I needed a big day from the Giants defense, the other league I needed a huge day from Braylon Edwards. Claiming/waiver priorities reset after week 6. Thereafter, priorities will not be reset weekly until the start of the playoffs. The only priority adjustments after next week's reset will occur when a player is claimed (with the claiming team dropping to the bottom of the priority list).

Does Fanball give you a zero for a lineup short a man? If I am reading the matchup page right, Eville has started no PK. He has one PK, Bironas. I am playing Eville.

This would be up to judy, but I just thot I would state now, before the final scores can be known, that I would have no objection to a manual adjustment counting Bironas' s points for Eville. I hate to see someone screwed for what was obviously just a mistake.

Hi Loki,

he got Benson first and that cancelled out your request as he had him. He got morgan on the second
go round. After you get a pick, you go to the bottom and roll up again.

You can see all the claims if you go to claims and pick the third option - which is who wanted whom
and the order. The 4th option tells you who got whom.

OK?

Found the rules: You have 24 hours to protest, ending at 8:53 Thursday night.

"After the draft, trades will be subject to a review period. For the first 24 hours following a trade,
managers may protest a trade by posting a message at the RotoGuru forum, or by sending an email
to the Commissioner. If at least 3 managers protest a trade within 24 hours of its announcement,
then all managers will be polled within the next 24 hours. If seven or more managers vote to veto a
trade, then it will not be approved. If a proposed trade is announced less than 24 hours before the
earliest freeze for any player involved, then the entire trade will not be processed until the following
week.

If a trade does not receive at least 3 protests, then it will be effective 24 hours after it is announced.
If a trade receives at least 3 protests but the protests are not upheld in a full league vote, then the
trade will be processed 48 hours after it is announced."

Fanball is by far the worst site I have ever played fantasy
sports on. I can't believe they have the balls to charge money for
this site.

I'm reading one of my several free fantasy info sites and
they quote the Texan's coach that Andre Davis had a pin inserted
into a dislocated finger and he could miss up to 3 weeks. No
"P"or "Q" or "O" even mentioned in fanball.

Meanwhile, Reggie Bush has a "P" next to his name and he had
arthroscopic knee surgery and didn't even make the trip to
London. And Clinton Portis is listed as "Q", and he fully
participated in practice yesterday and will play on Sunday.

What a POS site.

Sort of related to #122-#126:
Judy, I purposely did not submit a claim for the FAD on Tuesday hoping I would have a higher pick after week 8. Later Tuesday I noticed that I had both DL's on a bye so I made a roster move after the FAD was over. Does that mean that I go to the end of the picking list next week?

#131-134 I think the ESPN pre-game is fairly good, but I rely on Rotoworld if I have an iffy player. They almost always list all the inactives at least for the early Sunday games.

#133 Nice write up mjd. I did not realize how far off they had been. Ouch!!

Dave -- I think the order reset stuff is just for claims and waivers. I don't think there is any penalty
for FAD's. That is why some people wait until claims are over and hope their guy is still there.

I like to watch Howie, Jimmy and Terry on FOX (can't stand Frank the comedy guy though), but there
is no set time when they give the inactives. I am out of the house reffing lacrosse until noon, so I
don't have access until I get back to a TV set and if the FOX guys don't say it soon enough, I am
screwed. That's what happened to me in week 6 with Colston. I heard it at 12:58 and I got to my
lineup but he was already locked.

RE #133 I agree with mjd. According to them Westie is still O and Morris is fine. None of the other
P, Q are correct either according to the nfl/cbs sites.

This added to the fact that I am starting Garcia over Favre at QB should guarantee two losses for the NY Titans today. I rarely start my QB #2 over #1; therefore Murphy's law dictates another 6 TD day for Favre and the opposite for Garcia.

That was a blown call on the muff, but I'll take it. I thought "Matty Ice" played pretty well. I
wish the Eagles would do more bumping of receivers instead of lay off prevent defense.

yesterday Drew Brees had a rush for -26 yards and the deduction of 2.6pts is not yet reflected in his scoring.

I am hoping that the Titans defense forces some turnovers today. It seems that I need around 40pts to win at least 1 game and 45.25 to win the other one. And that with DL Haynesworth, CB Finnegan and the Titans Defense itself. It may be best if Finnegan returns a pick for a TD. that would be a 17pt play. go Titans!

well -- Cole finished pitching the 6th and the tarp is on.
The weather is expected to get worse and it is supposed to rain into tomorrow morning, with the day time
weather to be even worse -- windier and much colder (currently 39F). It would be a suspended game,
resuming at mid 6th, Phillies batting. I just wonder how long they are going to wait. It might be finished with
only broadcasters and players still around to see it. It'll be hard to stay awake just in case and my TVIO maxes
out at about 6 hours.... Folks who used public transportation are really in a bind -- last train is one hour after
game ends -- that might not be until very late, unless they get smart and call it by midnight. No whatyou
want for a pivotal game.

What a MESS!!

RE: #146

Team 13 will get an additional 10.70 points added on Tuesday after 12:00 pm. So Swing, chances
are likely that you did not beat him this weekend...

Hopefully, once I override the scores, the standings will be changed as well.

RE: PHILLIES -- It is our bullpen vs theirs. I'll bet they bring out Price to "start" for them and go as
long as he can -- he's good. I am not sure who we will use -- R or L -- it will depend on who is
up next for the Rays. However, I am sure it will be Madson for 8th and Lidge for 9th.

I am glad they made the quick decision to suspend it until Tuesday night -- although the weather
might be drier, it will be windier (40-50 mph gusts) and colder (30's WC 20's).

I am going to the PARADE!! There is so much joy in PhillyLand.

The lines in stores to get stuff are huge -- stores opened at 10:30 last night and were open all night!
I have the red Playoff hoodie -- needed a good luck charm to wear during the WS. (It needs a bath...)
Will get a WS something when the lines get shorter!

Parade begins Friday at Noon -- might walk the whole way to the stadiums... sunny and low 60's --
perfect!

Well, the parade was indeed fun -- we didn't get the free tickets to get into the stadium -- I'll watch
that on TIVO TV -- Chase " World F____ Championship" and all.

HOWEVER, the public transportation was just awful. We changed plans and drove to a further out
station as the standing/smushed room only trains (at 7 am! for a noon parade) were blowing right
by the closer in stations (where I live). We were at a station at about the halfway point and had 5
trains blow by and, after waiting 2.5 hours, we got onto the last one to get us to the parade in time.
It was a free ride as there was no way any conductor was going to make his way down the aisle.

Then for the ride home, we waited 4 hours for a train -- standing inside the concourse area. SEPTA
did not have enough trains to carry all the people. I got home around 8 pm. There were no taxis
left and really no other way for us to get home. People were really very peaceful. I did miss all my
trick or treaters and we have some cute kids in the neighborhood, so that was a bummer -- now I
have all this candy... that I guess I'll have to eat...

I think the trick is to drive to the airport early, park there and take the airport train to center city.
That train was running basically on schedule.

It was a gorgeous day and everyone really was very happy. Tons of red everywhere. They are
guessing maybe 2 million showed up.

However, if the Eagles ever win a championship, I think I'll watch the parade on TV.

The Eagles could be a dangerous team if they could figure out how to score TD's inside the red zone.
They messed that up again this week -- how hard can it be to design 5-10 good looking plays for
inside the 5-10 yard line?

At least, I had Akers today -- figuring that TD's would be a problem.

I think they should try that "silence is golden" MNF they did a long while back...

However, it is NOT as bad as listening to Chris Wheeler do the Phillies -- he is just awful -- for 162 games no
less. I almost preferred the network guys (but not by much -- they didn't know the Phillies players at all.) I
like Gary Matthews -- he says only what he needs to say and lets the game flow.

I kinda figured it would be a defensive struggle which is also why I wasn't too keen on having Moss in there
anyway, esp with the bye week coming up for healing. I wonder what changes they will make for the second
half. Campbell looks lost. Would like a few more plays from Troy though...

I just found out that Jackson almost wasn't active with a groin strain -- now I suspect he'll be a decoy.
Wonder if he'll do the PR duties. I might have too many Iggles going tonight (6) -- will need about 40
fantasy points to feel comfortable. It might be low scoring though...

Loki -- Burress is the one who worries me the most -- he is so much taller than our DB.

How about Julius Peppers today -- finally -- 21 points!

mjd -- it was a toss up -- 4 name Green vs BUF or Rice vs HOU and I thought that Rice had the better
matchup and was supposed to start -- it looks like he sat on the bench from the 2Q on. I wonder what
NE will do when S Morris comes back -- also what will I do??? Also, of course R Wms goes off after I
dump him.

Isn't fantasy football fun? I am so glad I don't do this for money!

after going 12-0 in the first 6 weeks, I am now 0-8 since then. this is not looking to good for my team. most points scored and most points against. at least I can get in by points scored. I am currently 245pts ahead of 9th place.

It looks like you dropped F Taylor at 3:43 and he should have been frozen at that point as his JAX had the

I fixed the week 8 scoring, adding 0.06 to Loki/Titans score. It does not affect the standings.

mjd - I saw that the 2 safeties were eventually added to MINN DEF although now they are calling
the first one an illegal forward pass (ie., no receiver there) so we will need to watch that to see if
there is an official scoring change.

Everyone else, always check your stats and post inconsistencies here for me to fix.

if anyone wants to add the SF DEF for tonight's game, let me know -- you'll need to drop a bye, SF or AZ
player -- all the rest are supposed to be frozen. I'll have to do it for you as SF will look like it is on the
waiver list.

Also, mjd I guess they can't really change the safety as that would change the score and MINN would lose.

Here are division seeding rules:
Division Ranking
Teams are ranked within a division using the following order:

1. Overall Winning Percentage
2. Head-to-HEAD Games Played (2 teams only)
3. Most Points For, Season To Date
4. Virtual Coin Toss

So, mjd if we tie via #1, I win!

Loki- Championship playoffs are top 8. We also run a Consolation -- my first year I won that with
more points than either of the two teams on the weekend of the finals!

Last year 3 teams from each AAA went to RIFC. I would assume it will be the same.

from Guru's preseason RIFC thread:

I am pleased to announce the 14 managers for the 2008 RIFC:
....list....
This list includes me, the top-6 non-me seeds from last year's RIFC, 3 teams from each AAA league, and the (playoff) winner of the AA league. For each AAA league, I selected the playoff winner plus the top two seeds for the playoffs. In the instance that the playoff winner was one of the top two seeds, then the third seed was selected.

Maybe this was clear to everyone posting, something they knew and assumed, but perhaps not clear to everyone reading: 8 teams in playoffs, top 6 by W/L record, next 2 places by total points.

So the tie breaker rules would only be relevant if a number of teams tie for the 6 position (or4-5-6-7-8 position).

Tiebreakers are extremely unlikely to decide who *gets in* the playoffs -- because the 2nd and 3rd teams not to make the top 6 win/loss slots would have to have exactly the same number of total points.

Yeah, that officiating crew screwed up a few things. Peterson taking
his helmet off in the end zone after his TD should have been a 15

outcome of the game.

51 pass attempts is a bit insane -- don't you think? Cassell got Pete 35.2 points. That might be close to the

And even though I didn't start Polamalu he deserved credit for that TD last night. They got the call correct
the first time although there was no illegal forward pass that I saw -- Steelers refuse the penalty and the TD
counts. And since when does a play end without a whistle because the pass was illegal? The result of the
play (a TD) should stand and you kick the XP.

The officiating this year has been horrific. I really do wonder why. Maybe last night they were frozen, but still
-- you get paid to ref in all conditions -- I sure have.

I'm finished and all I can do the rest of the way is play spoiler if I can knock someone out of the top 6 the next 2 weeks and he can't make the playoffs on points, and I haven't checked the schedule. And Gore, Boldin, Marshall and A. Johnson weren't bad pix. Hasselbeck was dumb. I was warned off him but too late, after I had picked him.

I blame it all on my picking McGahee. I hate him and he is a malcontent and a jerk and a shirker and he screwed the Bills after they put up with his year out with injury but I picked him anyway because I thot he was the best value at that pick. Maybe next year in AA I'll pick people I'll be happy to own even if I lose.

Yeah, Judy, the NFL has acknowledged that that call was wrong. Funny, cuz even just hearing the description of the play I thot I knew that an IFP does not end the play. Call should have been "Penalty against the [offence/defence -- I forget who is whom on a kickoff], #xx for an Illegal Forward Pass, 15 yards from the spot of the pass. The penalty is declined. The result of the play is [raising arms] 'Touchdown'. The game is over."

I wonder if perhaps some officials are getting casual and lazy about sticking it out to the end calling the rules on end-of-game plays that don't change the outcome.

But you aren't out of it Toral -- you are actually in the race with me and mjd for the last slot. You
could finish at 12-14 and so could the two of us. I am at 10-12 and play 4 of the teams ahead of
me (although my team is a major disappointment right now -esp. Donovan and Westie). My best
hope is 14-12 and I think I am only dreaming about that -- it won't happen.

Then it would be points to decide. It looks like mjd has the inside tract, esp if he wins tonight (He
only needs 8 pts from 2 guys.) and goes to 11-11. He has more points at this time also.

DH-I have come to realize that also. The depth would have been great if I had or will have other injuries besides Brady, but as it stands the depth only enabled me to listen to the gurus on match ups and usually start the wrong player. On paper Favre had a tougher game than Garcia but ended up with more fantasy points.

The head of officiating was on ESPN today.

The Referee had the play right. But as they were lining up to kick the XP, the other officials got together and said (correctly) that a forward pas that hits teh ground is incomplete and therefore teh game is over. The problem was that there was a misudnerstanding of WHICH latteral was deemed a forward pass. The referee by rule could not looka the play again nor could the replay offical buzz him by rule. The head of officiating wants to get this chagned at least by the playoffs if not sooner so after reviewing the play they can administratively get the play right. It doesn't happen often but when only one official can look at the replay things can get messed up in the administration. Remember they have what 90 secs before the screen turns off and most of that time is simply gting the play right.

I am not defending the botched call--saying sometimes on really screwy plays I think the head of officials is right, perhaps they can go back and look at something again or at least talk to the replay guy on the headset simply to get the administartion correct. The other officials, in attempt to get the play right--actually screwed it up. That is why the NCAA and NBA have actually expanded what their officials are allowed to go to the monitor and review.

I've complained about the level of the officiating for years. The
guys that they use now are accountants, school teachers, or
work some other job during the week. They ref as a part
time job.

The NFL makes millions of dollars per year. Why can't they have
full time officials? Make them watch game films during the week
and study the rule book.

Learning from the multitude of missed/botched plays each year
could go a long way towards getting all the calls right.

One more peeve is with all the available technologies today, why
are they still measuring first downs with two sticks and a piece
of chain. A disc in the ball and the use of GPS could place the
ball on the exact spot every time. Plus there would be no
question if the ball crossed the plane of the goal line.

WELL, it sure looks like the playoffs teams are set for this season, barring some incredible upsets.
Even the TPF favor the current top eight. There are very slim possibilities for Ghostwood, Red and
Toral, but only if they can sneak into the top 6 via the W/L -- mjd has the TPF nailed down. I
think the TPF for B7 and Eville are too low to move up.

That said a lot of the top eight are playing each other this weekend and that could add a few
numbers to their loss columns...and if Ghostwood, Toral and Red score high enough (and win)
that might change a few things.

Needless to say I am always hopeful. Heck, I root for the Iggles...

Loki -- I think 14 wins will do it and the 4 thru 7 have a great chance to get that. mjd has the TPF
that he needs for the tie breaker, unless his team absolutely bottoms out. I am at 9th place now
and need to win out to get to 14, which is highly unlikely -- and my TPF stink. I need to score big
and hope others bomb.

That said I will be following this weekend closely to see how the top teams do against each other.
Even if they go 1-1 #4-7 will get to 14 wins.

mjd-There were 3 events that helped turn around the Giants' franchise. "The Fumble" was one of them. I remember seeing it, but I do not recall whether I watched the game live on TV or saw the replay on the news. The 2nd were televised pictures of Giants' fans burning their tickets. However what was most instrumental in Giants' ownership finally deciding to improve the team was a small plane flying over Giants' Stadium trailing a banner stating "15 Years of Lousy Football. We've Had Enough." I was at this game; the the fan reaction was incredible. This was shown on the NYC news stations, printed in the papers, and I would not be surprised if it made national news. This event so embarrassed the Giants that improvements were soon forthcoming.

Judy-This was before teams routinely had the QB take a knee to run out the clock. On the last play of the game the Giants' QB, Joe Pisarchek (?spelling), fumbled the snap prior to handing the ball off. It was picked up by the Eagle's Herm Edwards and returned for a TD giving the Eagles the win.

Judy, Google "Miracle at the Meadowlands" As an Eagles fan it's
about the closest feeling we had to winning the Super Bowl. The
Eagles rallied that season to make the playoffs for the first time
in over 20 years.

"The Fumble" usually refers to the 1987 AFC playoff game
between the Browns and the Broncos. Cleveland's RB Earnest
Byner
appeared to be on his way to the tying TD but fumbled on the
Denver 3 yard line with about 1 minute to go. Giant's fans also
refer to the Miracle of he Meadowlands as "The Fumble".

Loki, at least the Giant's ownership (the Maras) responded with
changes after the "Miracle" to hire the right coaches and draft
the right players to win multiple Super Bowls since then.

Eagles fans were stuck with Leonard Tose who despite hiring
Dick Vermeil also hired Rich Kotite and Buddy Ryan who failed
to win anything with Randle Cunningham and the Polish Rifle,
Ron Jawarski. Our memories are clouded with "Fog Bowls" and
the recent failures of the Reid, McNabb fiasco.

Buddy Ryan was a hoot for his TV and newspaper interviews,
but fell short in the championship department.

A reminder from Guru:

Remember that we have special add/drop restrictions during the playoffs:
Players at the primary skill positions (QB, RB, WR) and team defenses may not be added for any
reason during the playoffs. Free agents at these positions will be locked out after the final regular
season game. You may drop a player at one of these positions, but once dropped, that player
cannot be added later.

Players at the other positions (TE, PK, IDP) may be added or dropped according to normal regular
season guidelines, subject to playoff claiming priorities, if applicable.

Teams which are not still active in the Championship playoffs may not make any transactions -
adds or drops - even if they are still competing in the Consolation bracket.

Claiming priorities will be reset at the beginning of the playoffs, with the top seed getting the
highest priority. Thereafter, priorities will not be reset again (except that any successful claims will
drop the awarded team to the bottom, as usual.)

After all, it was a miracle, but it was a fumble, too.

Always referred to 'The Fumble' as the Earnest Byner gaff in the
1987 playoff game with the Broncos.

I guess it just comes down to how each individual saw the
situations.

I don't think that Andy is that bad. He is a good coach. McNabb made him look bad. Remember when Garcia was there, how he could move the offense to conserve time. That makes a coach look good. McNabb is just terrible with things like that, makes Andy's faults more apparant.

yeah but Andy changed the offense because of Garcia. He used the run to set up the pass. He ran
a "safer" offense. Same as when Feeley (sp?) came in a few years ago and won a bunch of games
or even Feeley last year vs the Pats. Why not run that offense when McNabb is in there? Also,
Andy's end game management is horrific.

They've got Kolb running the pass first offense here -- I know that both Buck and Westie are hurt
and Booker is inactive, so there is no other choice for RB today, but still.

The Eagles need to draft another, preferably bigger RB. This season is now about who will be on

I have crossed some sort of reality border where I find myself rooting more for my fantasy team than for the Giants. I need to ground myself and be satisfied that the Giants are the best team in the NFL.

Now if the Giants play the Jets in the Super Bowl, certainly a reasonable possibility, for how much would a pair of Super Bowl tickets sell? If this happens, and if I win the lottery for tickets, I believe that a pair of tickets could be sold for 5 figures.

Getting back to my fantasy team, my anti-Oakland strategy netted me 2 points. I may be able to limp into the playoffs, no thanks to Judy's and mjd's Eagles.

Did you know that if you click on the NFL Fantasy Points tab at the top of Live Scoring that
it gives the player's scores by the team (Jints, Iggles, etc) they play on and it also tells you who of us
has that player and if that player is on the bench or starting. Interesting info. You can also get there
by clicking on the red line under each player.
It gives you a different perspective for points and what NFL team each player plays for. Such as only 5
Bengals were chosen by us and only 2 started while 12 Steelers were chosen and 11 started. The Jets
are 12/10.

In addition, here are a few more clarifications:

This means that your "primary skill position" players will LOCK at the start of their games this week.

If you are in the consolation round, all your players will LOCK at the start of their games this week.

There is no way to do this in FanBall, so you will need to self monitor this knowing that I am peeking over

You are correct though that I stay away from Jints and Cowgirls on my teams. I might need to think
about that for next year...

RE Carney -- it was just a thought that NYG would score more than the Iggles. Peter King picks the
Iggles to win by 1...

Right now I am planning to start McNabb and Westie. We shall see. I do hope that McNabb does well
so he can "up your nose with a rubber hose" to Andy and Co. Philly has never been kind enough to
McNabb but he has been man enough to take it all in stride, but he must hurt inside some times.

When the Iggles desperately needed (and still need) WR for him to throw to, in 2007, they draft his
replacement in the first round? What was the point of that?

For his sake, I hope Donovan goes somewhere and does really well. I am certain, given his cap
structure and the fiasco last Sunday, that he will be gone -- and the Eagles will stink it up even worse
next year. We have too many holes to fill -- RB, WR, QB, OL and the owners are too cheap to go after
good FA's.

Judy, why are you bailing? Look, if McNabb is done in Philly, so be it. Reid is a guy who has coached a couple good QB's, Favre and McNabb, so I wouldn't be too down of Kolb right yet. He saw Kolb when he was in Houston, and followed his college career. He drafted him as an insurance policy for this exact thing. Here are the numbers from McNabbs first extended game action:8-20 for 68yds and 1 INT. Here is Kolbs:10-23 for 73 yds, 2 INT's. It was also against a crazy good Ravens D' who wanted to win an emotional game for there coach.

The defense is always tough, and they are young, so they will get better. I like Desean Jackson, could have 1000yds as a rookie. Westy is awesome. LJ and Celek are good TE's for a young QB to check down to. Shawn Andrews will help the line when he gets back. The OL does a good job protecting the QB, just need to work on the run, which maybe Andrews could help. Hey, if Sanders in Indy can be huge in stopping the run, maybe the opposite is true with Andrews. Reggie Brown is a bust, need to get another WR to compliment the group, a name, Anquan Boldin anyone??? Maybe get a new WR coach, teach them how to catch, and develpo. Real weakness with the team. I don't live in Philly, I am in Montreal, so I don't get the press hounding them everyday. Maybe that is why I can be optimistic. Or maybe I am just an idiot:)

Oh, I am not bailing. I'll be right back into the fold when mini camps begin again. It's just that
we should -- and could -- be so much better! I do like our D, although I think Lito and Dawk's
best years are behind them, but they can tutor some new kids. I thought the $$ we gave to
Samuel could have been used on the OFF side of the ball. In my mind, he's only been OK, esp
seeing what some of the rookie DB's have been doing.

I also think I am kinda jealous at the coaching job Belicheck has done with Cassell and his team
up there -- esp since they are my brother's team...and I keep losing all our bets.

Another WR, QB, RB (RBBC anyone?), and OFF COORD might help out. Maybe they should do a
Joe Pa and put Andy up in the booth! We need an on the field OFF game manager.

Philly is a really tough town on its sports teams. You gotta be here to believe it. It is brutal. We
love 'em but there are such high expectations all the time. We "boo" at everything!

Hey, maybe we'll surprise everyone and win out!

DS-The latest report is that Burress has already been discharged from the hospital so the injury could not be too serious. However he will miss a minimum of 2 weeks not taking into account possible NFL sanctions. I am glad that Burress is not badly injured, however from a fantasy perspective, I could have been starting Hixon had he done this earlier in his nonproductive season.

Hi Loki -- I know, I earned ~75 points from McNabb, Westie and DeSean. If I had kept Akers, I think it
would have been 90!. And I have 10 guys left to play including 4 on offense.

Clearly my fantasy season followed the ups and downs of the Eagles. I was so pleased that McNabb
did well. He is a good person. With the OC dialing up runs and short passes, the Iggles OFF can be
unstoppable. Maybe Morningwheg was calling the plays instead of Andy. It certainly was a different
strategy than the previous 3 games and we know how those turned out!

If I hadn't bombed with my 130 TOTAL points last week (certainly the lowest of any team this season), I
might be in the running for one of the 7/8 spots...

Oh well, my goal for the playoffs will now be to have the highest score in the league for each round of
the playoffs. If the Iggles continue like this, I have a chance!

I even went so far to figure out that if the Iggles run the table and the NYG beat everybody

The NYG-Redskin game just ended with a useless play with fantasy relevance. With 4 seconds remaining in the game Campbell passed to Moss whose subsequent fumble was recovered by the Giants. This one play generated defensive points for a forced fumble and fumble recovery, negative offensive points for Moss, and positive points for Cambell.

Before everyone vacates this forum once our season ends, I would like to thank everyone in our league.
We ran a great draft, had a nicely competitive season with very active team managers.

I especially enjoyed the give and take of this forum -- for those of you who joined in! AAA#2 had only
24 comments all season -- how dull! We had over 500! Most were probably mine, but I thoroughly
enjoyed the back and forth! I think that is what helps make it so much fun! Some of us have been "at it"
together for three seasons now!

Hopefully, my 8th place finish will be enough to let me be an AAA commish again! I really do like doing
it, and you guys were a big part of that -- so thanks so much!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL IN THE CHAMPS.

GO IGGLES -- if we win out... and the NFC South falters...? it ain't over 'til the FAT LADY sings!

I'm assuming the commish will set up the league 2 play-offs? It appears to be a train wreck after the top 3.
In
1. BMD (23-3) 3883.40
2. Wiggs (18-8) 3671.20
3. Frick (16-10 3460.64
4. Culdeus (13-3) 3581.60
5. twilson (13-3) 3252.64
6. Goatlocker (13-3) 3179.12
7. Pancho Villa (10-16) 3453.36
8. TD Dragons (10-16) 3215.92

Spots 7-8 are based on total points for. So Valyrie and Beezer are both out since we had a 5-way tie for spots 4-6 and the 2nd tie breaker is only for a 2way tie. The 3rd tie breaker is total points for.

Doug misses the play-offs by 5.6 points, so if there are scoring adjustments please speak up! Taxman misses by 8.32 so again, speak up if there are scoring adjustments.

If someone wants to double check me I wouldn't be offended. I think I read the rules correctly, but I could be wrong.

I have reset the claims order.
REMINDERS FROM GURU:

The Championship bracket will not be reseeded each round. Single elimination.

For the Consolation bracket, the losing team with the best score in round 1 will advance, along with
the three winners. Matchups will shift only if necessary to prevent a duplicate pairing in the second
week.

Players at the primary skill positions (QB, RB, WR) and team defenses may not be added for any reason
during the playoffs. Free agents at these positions will be locked out after the final regular season
game. You may drop a player at one of these positions, but once dropped, that player cannot be
added later.

Players at the other positions (TE, PK, IDP) may be added or dropped according to normal regular
season guidelines, subject to playoff claiming priorities, if applicable.

If a playoff game ends in a tie score, the team with the better seed shall advance.

Teams which are not still active in the Championship playoffs may not make any transactions -
adds or drops - even if they are still competing in the Consolation bracket.

All add/drop restrictions musty be administered manually, so please pay attention!

Claims and waivers will operate normally for teams eligible to make moves. Priorities will initally be
reset based on playoff seed, with the top seed getting the top priority. Thereafter, throughout the
playoffs, priorities will again adjust only when a claim is awarded.

I had some odd streaks this year: 12-0, 0-9, 5-0. don't ask me why I had the losses. there were no specific injuries during that span, my RB/WR simply got no TDs in these weeks.

Aaron Rodgers (13.11), Bucs Def (18.04) and Titans Def(17.11) are the steals of my draft. they were great all season. I hope they continue to play on such a high level during the playoffs. I want this title too.

Well I didn't start playing this RIFC game until two years ago.

So I started in AA. Had a great season. Dominated until the championship game and lost. So up to AAA instead of RIFC.

Last year, I was pretty darned good and would have won it all if Westbrook hadn't took a knee and cost me that game (Had the best overall score the next week so would have won it all). So back in AAA instead of RIFC.

This season, I've had some manager screw-ups along with the loss of high level picks. I've lost a couple games by less than a point and others by a little more. I have left higher scorers on my bench which would have won games. My draft went south a little as the WRs I let fall were snagged before they could get back to me--even though the teams that snagged them had bigger fish to fry I thought (turns out I was right but still cost me). WR has cost me a ton. But getting Eli in like the 8th or 9th round and is my only QB left was huge. Turner in the 3rd and perhaps Faulk can still help me if I need to sit LT or Turner or there is an injury. My IDPs have been decent.

Prediction: I won't score enough when it counts and I will be back here in AAA next season.

Judy-It is a good start for the 1st playoff game with my anti-Oakland strategy netting 26 points. If it weren't for the kick off return for a TD, it would have been 36. Now I need good games from the rest of my team and the right QB decision, Favre vs. Garcia. I think I will start Favre as his match up against SF seems to be the better one. At least I do not have to make a choice about starting Burress, and I was able to get Hixon back on waivers last week. I'll be at Giants Stadium on Sunday rooting for Jacobs, Hixon and Boss to have big games and for my Giants to to CRUSH the Eagles.

Judy-The Giants were as flat as I have seen them all season and this includes the loss to Cleveland. This affect spread to the fans who were for the most part apathetic; or perhaps we were all too frozen to get up much energy. I think that most of the fans felt that the team was due for a game like this and that it had nothing to do with the Plaxico Burress/Antonio Pierce situation. However this type of game makes one realize that it is in no way a given that the Giants will make it to the Super Bowl this season. Unfortunately for you from my perspective in the stands the Eagles did not look very strong They played a team that dropped passes, could not not covert 3rd down situations, could not stop third down conversions, and did not want to tackle Westbrook. Westbrook's stats were a function of poor Giant play as well as his ability. As you know, the problem of having 3 offensive players on the same team is that if the team has a bad game, it can kill your fantasy game. Thus barring the unlikely event of Washington blowing out Baltimore, I should lose my playoff game.

#417 Ref you picked a good week to play me. Congratulations to you.
I got my computer back late Saturday. Apparently there is a serious spyware going around that really messes up your Internet. I do not know which Internet page I (or my wife) opened which downloaded it. I was Internetless at home for 5 days. They had to wipe my hard drive and reinstall Windows, Office, and Internet Explorer from scratch. Neither McAffee nor Norton detect it. My computer person gave me a free spyware that detects it however. So hopefully I am OK in future.

It's always good to win. Funny we both left a WR who scored 20.8 on our bench. While it might be an upset on paper, I've had some bad luck--though STILL not hitting my potential. A little frustrating--perhaps just bad managing.

Spyware/malware: A relative has McAfee (as do I) and they have some major spyware. I've not had any noticable issues. So I walked them through dling Spybot and I did it with them. I found 33 instances of spyware on my computer. They can't even get it downloaded because of it. There really is some nasty stuff going around.

RE #418 and 419 Everyone here is getting really excited about the Iggles playoff chances. With
this team anything can happen (and often does), but when they focus and run the ball, they can
be very good. Defense usually rises to the occasion. It will be nail biting time for the next
three weeks...I am wearing Eagles gear in public again...

I would be happy to set up a "Plate Consolation Round" for the losers of the first round of the
Championships if all 4 teams want to keep on playing. So far it seems to be TB, mjd, titans. If
you are ready to quit for the season, that is OK too. I'll send an email out after the 13/Swing
game is settled.

Judy-My wife was overjoyed that my season was over. Her estimation of how much time I spend on my team and mine is truly a Mars-Venus scenario. I will however risk her wrath and would like to play on. Otherwise it is fantasy sports withdrawal until the baseball season. I had a terrible fantasy baseball year, and I am not sure whether it will be AAA or AA. In real sports the LA Dodgers are my team with the Mets a far distant second. Therefore I do not have much anti-Phillie feelings.

Every time I have another issue with my PC I get an "I told you so from my daughter" who bought her 1st Mac when I bought a new PC last year. With the Boot Camp program that would enable me to run necessary Windows programs I really have no excuse not to "cross to the dark side" when I buy my next computer.

Winners: Ghostwood, Eville, Toral
High point loser: B7

#1 = Toral (163.06)
#2 = B7 (150.00)
#3 = Ghostwood (141.54)
#4 = Evile (124.20)

Don't worry about the exact seeding spots on the drawsheet -- the pairings are correct.

Also interesting:

In RIFC of the 8 playoff teams, 6 drafted in the 1-8 slots, the other two in the 10/11 slots - indicating, for
them, that a high draft pick is a good thing.

For us, draft pick order didn't seem to matter- teams are listed below in draft order with the final
league standings position in ():

1. Ref (6th)
2. B7 (10th)
3. TBunnies (3)
4. Pete (14)
5. Toral (13)
6. DH/13 (4)
7. Judy (8)
8. Dror/Red (12)
9. Loki/Titans (7)

444-dave, when it comes to antivirus programs, all is not better.
In fact, when downloading a new antivirus program, it usually
tells you to uninstall any other similar program. For whatever
reason, they don't play well with others.

I had one of the highest rated antivirus programs and it was
eventually beat down. Those new viruses are able to mutate to
eventually get past your antivirus program.

Plus, it's very difficult to uninstall if you don't feel like ponying
up for the yearly renewal fee. i had serious difficulty uninstalling
Norton.

I used to believe that we really needed a new internet because
the current one was so contaminated with spyware, viruses,
trojan horses, ect. Then I bought a MAC. None of that BS has
contaminated the MAC operating program. All the antispyware
and antivirus protection is built in and the system is virtually
inpenatratable.

Save your money and buy a MAC. The basic MacBook costs
$1095. I paid another 200 bucks for all the bells and whistles.
Sure other laptops are cheaper, but in my mind they are also
disposable.

At least get a cheap external hard drive a back you stuff up
frequently and disconnect it from you computer when not in
use. It sucks losing over 50 bookmarked web sites and about
300 email addresses like I did.

In addition to having a MAC, I have the .mac (now called mobileme) membership for $99 bucks
a year and my information is shared/updated/sync'd automatically (or you can do it manually)
over three computers (tower, laptop and my Dad's laptop), so if one goes down I have all the
bookmarks and addresses on the others -- I guess it is sort of like having 3 external drives.
The stuff is also on my iPhone. You get an iDisk which is the space in the sky (ie., server) for
important stuff and you can down load it off of any of the computers. I also use their Backup
program for other stuff. Photos and stuff I really care about are on cd/dvd's.

My computer crashed in 3/07 and the hard drive could not be repaired. I had purchased PCs since the 286 machine was state of the art and had always bought Dells so naturally I decided to replace my computer with another Dell PC. Unfortunately March 2007 was when Windows launched Vista. I would never have purchased a system with a new operating system, but I thought that I had no choice. The system shipped with a wireless adapter, printer and Bluetooth mouse that I could not use because after hours on the telephone with tech support I was told that Vista could not support these items. I sent the whole thing back to Dell and not wanting to buy a Mac because I would get less computer for the same dollars as a PC, bought a Gateway Windows XP. Gateway told me that they were no longer selling XP on line but would sell me an XP machine over the telephone. XP is better than Vista, but I should have listened to my daughter and bought a Mac. I can hear her laughing every time I am cursing while using the computer. Her Mac never crashes and she never has any virus or malware issues.

For my browser I have been using Google's Chrome instead of Outlook Express. I find it easier to use, and it never freezes.

Bottom line--I will buy a Mac next time around.

So now they are to the point of taking it to a shop (which probably their pc will be wiped) or perhaps buying something they might be able to run from a CD. Any ideas as I'm fresh out.

Ref, it is my belief that these people intentionally create these
Trojan Horses so that we will by their product.

This happened to me last year. I did some research and some
computer magazine rated all the antivirus softtware. #1 rated was
called Kapersky. The best part was that they offered a free 2 week
trial period so you could try it out. Well, last year it worked.
Unfortunately, it failed me this year. I failed to write down my
licensing code which was wiped out by this year's TH. By then, I
was sick of all the Dell BS, so I bought my MAC

#467 Ref That sounds just like what happened to me. The software the popup wanted me to buy was 2009 Patriot Defender. I never bought/downloaded it, but the popups never stopped. My Internet Explorer would not work because the popup would send you back to desktop if you did not download their software. I had to have my computer wiped. My computer people loaded a free Spyware (all one word) "SuperAntiSpyware". They told me the home page something like Lavasoft.com.
I fully agree with mjd (#468) so I never buy that stuff on popups. Point is that I am always very careful the Internet pages I visit. This is going to happen so get some better spyware. This is not detected by Norton or McAffee.

So how do I find out who I played and how I did this weekend. Just got home and am watching SportCenter. I know few scores so far.

We needed ATL to lose yesterday --even though I find it hard to root vs Matty Ice.
Minny might beat them next week --please. SL is last for ATL -- I don't want to wait
that long.
Also the final Dallas - Eagles game here for a playoff spot would be just like a playoff.

I also need the Philly D to give up some points tonight to keep their
points to a low level in another league. Against the Brown's 3rd
string QB in Philly on MNF, I'm not real hopeful.

But they'll play the game anyway, so as we've seen many times,
anything can happen. The Philly 12th man should be well
lubricated if nothing else.

Fortunately for me, this league plays until the final week and I'm
set up pretty good to finish in the money.

Hey Judy, I'm rooting for the Birds. Just looking for a shootout,
not a blowout.

After the way the Eagles have played at times this year, their
road through the playoffs, should they make it that far, will be
on the road. That could be more painful to watch than making
the playoffs.

After tying the Bungles, I'm not sure they are worthy. I believe
the Donovan and Andy show is over. They had ample
opportunities and gagged, literally.

I'm still a fan, just a more realistic one.

BTW, Giants fans. I expected a better showing against the
cowgirls last night.

mjd - you forgot a verb there -- but I know what you meant.

The Eagles would be fools to get rid of McNabb now, but they need to assure him of some
viability for the next few years -- this "get rid of him" rant keeps getting repeated every year
and he has got to be tired of it. He needs and in my mind has
earned the the right for some assurance that he is their #1 for a few more year.

That said, whoever gets him would be in the playoffs long before the McNabb - less Eagles. I
have not been at all impressed by Kolb, although his appearances have been limited.

Let's hope the Eagles are not stupid. Now Andy? I could lose him in a minute.

I like their Defense -- it is young and hungry. I like their receivers as WR#2's with maybe
Jackson becoming a solid #1. Another breakaway threat would be nice (Boldin??). They need
another RB to change the pace of Westie OR they could use Buck in there like they did last
night, but Buck is a clone of Westie and I think we need a bigger short yardage type back. The
OLine loves to run block and should be allowed to do so.

I think the next two (or more) games will be very interesting and I REALLY REALLY REALLY
hope they make the playoffs.

playing the Bucs Defense for -1 and sitting the Titans and their 24 pts will cost me the championship. I thought the Bucs could force more turnovers than the Titans who did not have a lot of healthy starters on defense. I was wrong.

now I can only hope that Norwood steals some yards and TDs from Turner or that Feely scores as much as Gostkowski. I also have the feeling that Lee Evans will score as much as Housh. the Bills have a total of 3 yds after the 1st quarter.

Grats YR. It's pretty much impossible for me to win now. I'd literally need for Rodgers to throw a TD pass to Lee and net some yds to him and then be sucky the rest of the game with some FL and/or INTs (baring injury of course). Even if he never throws a pass there is no guarantee that Lee even sees the ball all game. Down just over a point. Go figure.

Maybe Andy would agree to be the GM and player personnel guy and let someone else do the
coaching stuff. He certainly is clueless during a game. I just wonder, after watching the Westie
press conf how disappointed he/they are not to even try to run the ball more. I think at one
point a reporter pointed out 12/16? straight pass plays. Of course, the WR are covered, you
are not going to run the ball so why defense that? McNabb had plenty of time -- too much in
my mind; they needed to dial up some 5 step drop quick pass plays -- given time our guys
were covered. See, even I could be the coach!
This was a bad Eagles game and they had so much riding on it. They were just flat -- how can
you be flat with this much riding on the game? I don't get it.

I guess since Rodgers only gets 4 pts for a TD and Lee gets 6 for catching it, Ref might

Great start to the morning today. My girl cat is looking out the window at something. So I go to
look too. Billows of black smoke from the driveway 3 doors down. Hmmm. Then a muffled
kaboom and the whole house shakes. Hmmmm. I go down to the kitchen and out on the back
porch and see my neighbor's car on fire big time!!! Hmmmm -- hey it's COLD out here! A few more
kabooms, lots of smoke and fire, the firemen come -- can't fit the truck into our alleyway so they
drag the hose about 100 feet to the car and get to work. After about 40 minutes the thing stops
smoking.

Fortunately, my neighbor had parked his car butt in or he would have lost his back porch. Turns out
he started the car to warm it up, took the dog for his morning walk around the block and returned
to find the front seat on fire -- you know the rest. We are guessing the seat warmer wires sparked
and set the thing on fire. It is a melted mess now... they haven't taken it away yet.

I think 8 RIFC members are demoted to AAA. 6 AA members are promoted per AA league. And 6 AAA members stay put. That gives 32 for 28 spots so it must be off somewhere. The leagues will be formed completely separate of this years leagues so it could be a mix of anyone, not necessarily the same people.

[533] Typically, the playoff champion and the top 2 seeds from each AAA league would move up to the RIFC. (or the top 3 seeds, if one is the playoff champ.)

You are not obliged to move up if you would prefer to stay in AAA, however. You'll be given that choice next summer.

If you decide to remain in AAA, there are no hard & fast rules as to who would fill the opening. It will depend on a number of factors, including the closeness of the final standings in each of the leagues.

Well Toral, you got me as I feared. Oh, well, nicely done - my Iggles just did not show up --- again.

Also w/ the Bears win, the Iggles are really out of the playoffs -- the scenario is just too fantiastic for us
to get in -- and frankly, we do not deserve it over the season's "body of work".

HOWEVER, that said, I hope we CRUSH the 'boys and shut out TO.

Donald Lee is really not a factor in the Green Bay offense. Rodgers connects to 10 different receivers but Lee is not one of them. winning the league with just under 130 points in the final is a bit lucky, but I earned that during the regular season with the #1 seed with the best record and most points scored.

Thanks to all of you. special Thanks to Judy for commishing and entertaining us all season with the latest on the Iggles.
the first time I won the regular season or the playoffs in a RIFC-style league and then I win it both. the key to my success were good mid-round draft choices: Rodgers (13.11), Titans (17.11), Bucs (18.04), Sproles (19.11). my RBs (MJD, Graham) and WRs (Randy, Evans, Buleson) were disappointing most of the season and I still won. looks like there is still room for improvement for 2009. If any one would like to rehash their season I could suggest:

Most disappointing players/drafts:

Important players with time lost due to injuries:

Most consistent players:

Best surprises -- even if you kept them on the bench when they starred ;(

Holiday cheers to all. I'll let you know of any survivor/playoffs "games." Let me know as well.

Grats YR!

Yeah I had to get Lee as Winslow let me down big time. LT was again a bust as the overall #1. My #3 Housh and #4 D. Anderson were also a bust. #5 KW? another bust. My WRs wer all a bust. With so many busts it's a wonder my team was so good on paper. From memory, I lost 2 games less than a point and I think another one less than 2 points and some other close ones. To finish just outside the promotions and then again lose int he championship stinks--but it's all good.

Eli in like the 8th was a nice pick. Turner at the end of the 2nd was serviceable and relaly nice at times. Having one of my worst weeks during the championship wsa typical of me. House 0. Berrian -.2 and Bess like 5.7. Wonderful. ;)

My IDPs were pretty good as was my K.

Thanks again to Judy. I remember a couple seasons ago when she first started trying to commish and I knew she'd be good because she was so active and determined. Great job! Also thanks to the league because inattention and slow drafts and crabby people really turn me off from leagues and there isn't anyone in this league like that. So thanks to you guys for making this so fun!

re #530 - car fire

The car was a 2008 Passat. The fire chief called my neighbor this am to tell him that it was the
second Passat 08 car seat fire they have had in the last two weeks and the area our fire company
covers is pretty small - 2-3 sq miles. So if you know someone with a newish Passat tell them to be
aware.

Grats to Roman. Not a total surprise since he's been in the RIFC
3 out of the last 4 years. He's a great player and he always
amazes me how well he does with his time zone issues. I
understand he gets to watch plenty of games, but I know he
also works hard on his pre draft preparation. Well done. Nice
job by Ref, as I know him to be a savvy player too.

The only consistent part of my season was my inconsistency.
Without a crystal ball, I had difficulty predicting which player to
bench and who to play. So some weeks, I think I just should
have flipped a coin or used a blindfold and a dartboard. But I
believe that you can create your own luck by setting up the
right moves ahead of time. I'm still floundering about
somewhere in the midst of that steep learning curve.

But I enjoyed the great competition. And Judy did an
outstanding job as commish, so props and thanks to her.

I'm pretty serious and shameless about the next subject .

Just looked at my draft. God my team was awful. I still have no idea how I won any games let alone was one playoff TD away from teh championship.

Great picks:
14.09 James Harrison LB PIT
10.09 DeMarcus Ware LB DAL
5.06 Roddy White WR ATL
Harrison and Ware were the top 2 ranked LBs by years end so getting them late must have been the key to my teams success. White was the #7 WR so he was a great steal in round 5.

Not as awful picks:
1.06 Steven Jackson RB STL
2.09 Tony Romo QB DAL
4.09 Antonio Gates TE SDG
21.06 Justin Smith DL SFO
7.06 Donald Driver WR GNB
8.09 Kirk Morrison LB OAK
15.06 Donald Lee TE GNB
Jackson and Romo put up decent numbers when they were healthy but missed significant time. Romo also ended up getting benched by me in favor of Tyler Thigpen down the stretch. Thigpen actually finished with 2 more fantasy points on the season that Romo. Neither one provided first or second round value however. Jackson finished as the #23 RB and Romo the #12 QB. Gates put up a solid season, finishing as the #4 TE, but killed my team by putting up a zero in the first round of the playoffs. Driver was the #32 WR, Smith the #10 DL, and Morrison the #14 LB. None of these picks particularly excelled but at least they didnt kill me either. Lee only played on his bye which I guess is all I was expecting.

Really bad picks:
3.06 Willie Parker RB PIT
6.09 Rudi Johnson RB CIN
9.06 New York Giants DEF NYG
11.06 Joey Galloway WR TAM
12.09 Zach Thomas LB DAL
13.06 Adam Jones DB DAL
16.09 Reggie Williams WR JAX
17.06 Eric Wright DB CLE
18.09 Gaines Adams DL TAM
19.06 JaMarcus Russell QB OAK
20.09 Arnaz Battle WR SFO
22.09 Josh Cribbs WR CLE
23.06 Washington Redskins DEF WAS
24.09 Michael Bennett RB TAM

Parker was the only guy in this entire group who was in my starting lineup at any point past week 4 or 5. He killed my team by playing like crap at every instance after singlehandedly winning me week 1 with a 30 point performance. Everyone else just stuck around until they eventually got cut.

As for waiver wire free agents. I did not get any of the real big ones but Thigpen did help me out quite a bit down the stretch as he was outpointing Romo. Laron McLain was a good pickup. He played solid and finished the season as the #24 overall running back which made him a great pickup for my team.

Here was my winning draft. Strategy was to stay light on RBs and spam 2nd RBs in RBBCs late in the hopes one worked out. People do not draft wrs and qbs high enough based on VBD in this league and I exploited that. Even as it was I only went 13-13 during the year with the 3rd highest PF. I think I had 2nd highest PA.

Huge mega steals were Pittsburgh as late as I got them and Brandon Marshall.

1.07 Marshawn Lynch RB BUF culdeus2
2.08 Drew Brees QB NOR culdeus2
3.07 Anquan Boldin WR ARI culdeus2
4.08 Roy Williams WR DET culdeus2
5.07 Brandon Marshall WR DEN culdeus2
6.08 Chester Taylor RB MIN culdeus2
7.07 DeMeco Ryans LB HOU culdeus2
8.08 Maurice Morris RB SEA culdeus2
9.07 Will Witherspoon LB STL culdeus2
10.08 Lance Briggs LB CHI culdeus2
11.07 Adrian Wilson DB ARI culdeus2
12.08 Roman Harper DB NOR culdeus2
13.07 Derrick Mason WR BAL culdeus2
14.08 Pittsburgh Steelers DEF PIT culdeus2
15.07 Todd Heap TE BAL culdeus2
16.08 Chris Taylor RB HOU culdeus2

here is my recap:

steals:
13.11 A Rodgers (wow, #2 ranked QB)
17.11 Tennessee (#3 ranked defense, were #1 for the first half)
18.04 Tampa Bay (#7 ranked defense, were top 4 for most of the season before falling apart in the Championship game)

more or less ok (value was within a draft round):
1.11 R Moss (lost 90% of his value when Brady went down. still managed to be the #9 ranked WR, a bit more was expected)
2.04 M Jones-Drew (#5 ranked RB, #14 overall. just where I drafted him. started slow into the season but got better down the stretch)
3.11 E Graham (was ok im most weeks I played him. season ending injury in week 11)
4.04 J Witten (#2 TE, just imagine what a healthy Witten could have done, or if Romo would have been healthy all year, or if TO would not be such a jackass)
7.11 L Fletcher (#14 LB, I expected a bit more)
9.11 Ra Lewis (#11 LB, not bad for an aging playing)
10.04 P Posluszny (#24 LB, Mr Consistency)
11.11 M Bulger (had his best game of the year in Rodgers bye-week)
15.11 W Dunn (stepped in after Graham went down in week 11, I benched him for Sproles later because of the emergence of Cadillac)
19.11 D Sproles (has the potential to come up big in any given week, played the best in most weeks I started him in front of Graham/Dunn)
20.04 C Finnegan (#18 DB, was #1 after week 5)

busts and season long holds:
5.11 L Evans (#31 WR, he shined for the 1st half of the season and was a non-factor in the 2nd half)
14.04 A Bradshaw (hoped for a bigger role, did not happen)
16.04 A Randle El (#36 WR, was invisible in most weeks, I really thought that his returns might get me consistent points)

busts and dropped sooner than later:
6.04 N Burleson (by far the best WR based on average, too bad he got injured in week 1 and was put on IR. this could have easily been my steal of the draft)
8.04 E J Henderson (played as expected until he went to IR in week 4)
12.04 A Wilson (got injured early)
21.11 K Jones (Forte was too good, so there were no carries left for him)
22.04 R Davis (I expected not much and he did not disappoint)
23.11 Ke Dawson (pre-season hype, never worked out, got Haynesworth off waivers)
24.04 P Dawson (a kicker is a kicker is a kicker)

notable waiver pickups:
M Jones (for N Burleson, had some good weeks but his suspension had to come sometime)
N Washington (for M Jones, the WR market was as thin as the RB market)
A Haynesworth (for K Dawson, great pickup as long as he was healthy)
S Cooper (for E J Henderson, excellent pickup, #26 LB with only 12 games played, #5 based on averages)

waiting for a QB and getting Rodgers in round 13 was huge, getting 2 top defenses that late was nice too. most of my early draft picks were ok at best, most of them were slightly below their expectations. the injury to Burleson and a Brady-less Moss resulted in a big hole at WR with a really thin WR-market. this is definitely something I need to change for next year. I doubt there will be a QB like Rodgers available next year too, so this years draft strategy will definitely not work next year. I'll probably get a QB and a 4th WR earlier and wait a bit longer at LB. a 3rd RB earlier than round 14 might also be better.
as you can see there are a lot of things that may need a change next season, but this all depends on draft position and draft dynamics. this is usually a plus for me because I draft based on value and not based on a name. In every draft there is not a single player that I really want, no matter what. I only have players that I would be comfortable with and when I see that a list gets short I act. picking QBs simply went like that. my list was down to Bulger, Delhomme, Rodgers and Warner when I thought it was time to grab a QB. I could have easily ended up with Rodgers and Warner in weeks 11+13. same thing was with defenses: in round 17 the list was short enough to get 2 in a row and I went with TEN (#3) and TB(#7) with BAL (#1) as my 3rd choice.

for all of you not playing RIHC: 53 days until the first pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training (Feb 14).

the good drafting:
Warner (17.12) was a steal. I watched as almost every other team passed on him at least once after he had been named the starter.
Rivers was on my bench most of the season, but actually outpointed Warner and was ranked #4 overall. If I'd have been confident that Warner would stay healthy, I should've traded one of these two.
Willis(6.03), Dansby(9.12), and Farrior (12.03) were all top-ten scoring LBs.
Welker (4.03) Not necessarily as well as I expected w/ serious reduction of TDs, but was consistent w/ the yardage.
Kevin Smith (5.12) Once Rudi got out of his way Smith was a decent player who I used for the stretch run.

the not-up-to-expecations:
Wayne(2.03) 4th WR drafted, scored 17th
Cowboys D was pretty good to me at the end of the season but had its ups and downs throughout.

The dreadful:
LJ (1.12) was a risk to begin with. He had his moments but his suspensions and the lack of O/running game in KC made him bad.
Edge (3.12) was a risk to begin with. Never got much going.
3rd WR. I had Crayton, who was spotty, and dropped Gage before he ever got anything going. The last half of the season I was rotating 3rd WR who were all scoring < 5 PPG.

In-season moves:
By far the best pickup was Josh Wilson, who ended up as the top scoring DB and had 3 of the top 5 scoring weeks by a DB.
I also picked up a couple of decent RBs who helped me out during the downfall of LJ and Edge during the middle of the season. Primarily Mewelde Moore and Michael Pittman.

Overall I had a good season. After the draft I was not feeling so great even after a couple of owners predicted good things for my team. I am disappointed that I didn't get one of the auto-qualifier spots to RIFC because I really feel like I had one of the three best teams (2nd in points, 1st in overall H2H power rankings [ 2nd during regular season H2H PR] )

Looking forward to next year already. Many thanks to judy for running a super league!

Ghostwood recap:

The overriding indicator of my weekly success or failure was the play of my 3 OFF eagles -- McNabb, Westie and
Jackson. When they did well, I won big; when they did not I stank it up. I needed 60+ points from them each week
and too often they did not come even close.)

(Rankings are after week #16.)
Good drafts:
NcNabb (#8)
Westie (#7-- I’ll want him again next year -- so get your trading ideas ready for me)
Jackson (#72)
Royal (#6)
Colston (when healthy -- finally I had to wait a Long time for that.. he was my #3 pick.)
SMoss (wash -- #14 great early on, but became inconsistent however as season wore on)
Peppers (#4 -- very slow start)
J Peterson (#30 faded as season wore on -- too old??)
Polamalu (#28 -- I would have liked more tackles from him, tho the INT were nice, even if he was robbed of one)
Akers -- did well when I needed him

Busts:
Rice (#53 -- injured and too much RBBC by Ravens -- you never knew who was going to play the most)
R Williams (#39 too much RBBC though -- never knew when to play him)
Kitna (IR was my bye week choice -- oops)
MLewis (#22 -- dropped in a bye week and never picked him up again)
LJ Smith (#25 -- gave me one good week)
INDY DEF

GOOD FA PICK UPS:
Ginn (#25)
Carlson (#7)
NE RBBC - 4 name and Morris (#36 -- he finally got healthy, but Lamont was the TD man late -- it was hard to know
who to start with the RBBC stuff there)
Torain (had him on the bench for weeks, he finally played and blew out his ACL -- only RB to tear the ACL this season)
Orton (#15 or so -- for my bye week)
Carney for FG late

I GAVE UP TOO EARLY ON:
Urlacher (#31)
Mayo (#17 - what was I thinking here??)
Allen (#2)

My biggest issues were which WR to start as I had 5 good ones. I also did not draft a solid RB#2 as Williams did not
pan out when they went to the Wildcat and RBBC. I did not have good LB though and that hurt my IDP numbers. I took
a chance on some rookies and for the most part they did OK: Jackson, Royal, Mayo, Carlson.

NEXT YEAR -- remind me to get a good RB#2 earlier and to draft some tackling LB a bit earlier.

My recap on the Thunder Bunnies roster for the year
My best draft selections (draft pick vs final standing ):
Derrick Ward, RB, NYG at pick 22.12 and #28RB
Chad Pennington, QB, Mia at 16.12 and #9QB
Tom Jones RB, NYJ at 3.03 and #5RB (wow)
Greg Jennings WR GB at 4.12 and #4WR
Vincent Jackson WR SD at 12.12 and #17 WR
Drew Brees QB NO at 2.12 and #1 player in entire league
Adrian Peterson, RB, Minn at 1.03 and #3 overall

my draft mistakes were:
San Diego Defense at 5.03 #20 Def and dropped
Kevin Curtis at 6.12 hurt before season #86 WR
Rashard Mendenhall at 7.03 injured mid season and dropped

Free Agent pickups:
I felt after 3 weeks that my QB/RB/WR were solid pending more injuries. That meant that I could usually get a good IDP in every FA draft. I changed out my IDP's a lot based on how they played. Some I dropped were good pickups later.
best pick ups: Eric Weddle #3DB, Jason Elam #7K, Tinoissomoa #25LB, Woodley #29LB, Urlacher #32LB, Shiancoe #5TE.
My WR were weak all season after Curtis went down, but I did not waste any real high picks on them. I was very surprised how my bench RB's did all year. I wish I had drafted a better TE earlier and a 2nd Defense a lot earlier.

I wish I had saved my pre-draft ratings to see how the projections turned out.

I really had a very enjoyable time playing in this league this year. I have learned pre-draft projections are over rated and a gut hunch can be better. I have learned NOT to shoot major fireworks shows out of state during the draft, and not to take extended vacations during NFL season.
I learned that you do not have to win both games of a doubleheader as long as you never lose both games in a week.
I want to thank everyone in this league for playing the entire year. This seemed like a very high quality group of very knowledgeable managers. Also, for the messages on this site. 559 seems like a huge number to me.

THANK-YOU JUDY for a fantastic year, and for your patience. Thank-you very much.

how is your score in the CBS playoff game? we can't see each others teams yet.

my team is Peyton (18) + Turner (10) + Sproles (24) + Boldin (10) + Fitzgerald (16) + Clark (3) + Vinatieri (5) + Ravens (?) = 89 pts

that combination looks very good this week. the bad thing is that ATL (Turner) and IND (Peyton, Clark, Vinatieri) lost and Boldin re-injured himself, so I will need to exchange at least 5 players for next week which will result in not so many trades left for the following weeks.

I lose turner and wayne so far.

I had rivers (?), sproles (24), boldin (10) and white (?) in another one.

update:
McNabb (14), + Westie (18) + Turner (10) + Wayne (18) + mason (7) + Fasano (0) + Akers (16) + Eagles
D (14) = 98

I was a little worried there at halftime when we could only get FG in the red zone... and I would need to
replace 6 players for next week...

I have a solo team in the nfl.com one and I think I calculated 123 points (rivers, westie, sproles, boldin,
white, shiancoe, akers and eagles)

I really felt that Indy had a decent shot to win it all again this season. They aren't overpowerful and injuries have really hurt them, but many guys were getting back finally and Manning had been unreal. There is just not a dominant team this year IMM. Tenn vs. Indy would have been fun to watch. The best defense could win it this season as there are a few. It really is wide open and every team left has a reasonable shot to win it.

McNabb, C Johnson, Westie, D Jackson, Mason, Miller, Akers and Eagles D.
Obviously if the Eagles lose, so do I! I have 5 moves left.

I did go into the Playoff Challenge league and submit a team, but I do not know which division or whatever I am in. I see that several others did put in teams, but I do not know how to look at standings or other teams. I also made a huge error. I assumed that I would be able to make roster changes on Saturday morning, but I was locked out after the first game kick-off. So my team will really stink now. Oh well.
How about an all Pennsylvania Superbowl??

Dave,

Oh, well... You should have been able to make changes up to 3:30 EST. Try the tabs for the other info .

Can you believe the EAGLES???

here are my predictions for this weekend:

CONFERENCE CHAMPS

EAGLES over AZ -- Eagles D slows down Warner to Fitz, Westie rediscovers running again
(although the Jints paid so much attention to him that the short passing game worked and he
was a good blocker keeping McNabb's jersey clean. And we kept trying the run to keep them
honest.) Our passing game moves the chains and gets into the End Zone. Could be a high
scoring affair, say 37 - 24.

PGH over BALT -- Balt lack of offense and PGH D determine this outcome. FWP seems to be
"back" and that is not good news for the Ravens D. Ben throws just enough passes to be
efficient and move the chains: 24 - 13.

Having owned Jake Delhomme last week, I'm amazed to see I'm in second place in the division.
