Sorry guys, I had a sick friend who I went to take care of after work and this totally slipped my mind when I got home late last night. I am doing a quick cheatsheet "cross off the keepers" and then will make my pick in next 30 mins.

Apologies.

I know JT is busy these days... so hopefully he checks in late tonight or early tomorrow though... been over 16 hours now and I'd like to avoid using clock if we can, but obviously need to keep things rolling a bit better than they went today.

Everyone please make sure you are using queues and designated pickers if you expect to be offline for extended periods... thanks!

Guys, I know we aren't using a clock, but please at least place a note here if you know you are going to be away.

Joey has used up 18 hours of clock time...which wouldn't be a problem if we weren't all checking in every so often only to see him still on the clock.

So, if you plan to be away, please take the common courtesy of the other 11 managers into account and leave a quick note here.

Alright guys, just got back from camping. Great job finishing up.

I will enter the last of the guys into Yahoo tomorrow, I think I only have 4 rounds to do as I was entering the players as they were being drafted to save time on the end.

I am going to press start league on Friday morning, meaning all waivers will come off players 3 days later. (I think)

Please make sure your team has been entered correctly.

Ok...waiver priority is set as to reverse draft order. This priority will only be good right now, as all players will be on waivers for 2 days.

After this 2 day period, all players are FAs until Week 1. Then you may submit claims before Tuesday, in reverse standings priority order.

I have no idea when on Tuesday the claims go through, so get your claims in Monday to be safe.
I cannot change players around once they have been claimed, as I don't know which players were in claiming queues and where. So make sure you get your claims in on time.

Guys- I dont know what can be done right now, but I specifically asked not to have 2 kickers picked from my queue, not only did I get 2 kickers, I got 3. This really screwed up my draft as I had many other players in my queue that were picked after I should have already had them.

That is pretty crappy... People at this stage of the draft should of been reading the boards. Definitely a major screw up for Wiggs. Can see his post at #34
62barilko6
      ID: 3882247
      Fri, Sep 04, 2009, 08:22
That really does suck. Since the draft is over, I can't go back to check to see who made the picks for you Wiggs. (During the draft you can see who made picks for you by clicking on players.)

Hmm...what to do. Luckily it was your last 3 picks. Unluckily you still have 3 kickers.

Ironically, I actually didn't even get a kicker myself!

Anyone have any suggestions? Ideas? I am thinking of letting him pick up 2 FA's before anyone else can make a move. Since the season starts next Thursday, we give Wiggs until next Tuesday to make his moves, and then next Wednesday everyone else can make moves, which would still give everyone time to get rosters set.

This would obviously give Wiggs' the advantage of picking up anyone that might play due to a teammate's injury, but I am not sure what else to do.

Thoughts?

How much time do we have to finish the draft?

Without looking it up, how many rounds would we potentially have to redo if we restarted the draft at the point where Wiggs 2nd kicker was selected?

Another option would be to have Fred tell us who made the 2nd and 3rd K picks and allow Wiggs to select a player who was selected later from the manager who made those picks as a punishment.

And I have my fingers crossed that I wasn't one of them.

We could also ask for an independent judge to make sure that Wiggs doesn't take someone who has had their value go up based on information that didn't become available until after the pick occured.

Just a couple of options.

Alright, so we can grant Wiggs Alex Smith, who went unclaimed I believe. That solves one problem, as he was the first guy in the queue behind Folk.

Does that work?

We also have to keep in mind we are talking about 18th and 19th round picks, no superstars by any means.

I still need a kicker and would be more than willing to work out a deal Wiggs.

Listed below are the guys who were picked after Wiggs' got his second kicker.

I hate Yahoo. I put Stafford and Coles in for McNabb and Hixon, but when I tried to submit my line-up it wanted me to sign-in. I signed in and assumed my line-up had been changed. Apparently I was mistaken. My team is awful, but I could have at least gotten a win this week.

I thought Henne playing this week would be a good thing. Didn't realize he played well enough to give me a 2nd QB with a negative score.

Mmm, I would like to talk about a rule for next year. Since we do a "max" on keepers for one position, I would sort of like to see that happen throughout the year. I really don't see why a team needs 5-6 QB's on their roster at one time. I think it takes away from the competiveness of the league for people to be able to fill positions. It is just my .02 cents of course. I just fill it is more a matter of sportsmanship. I've always hated teams who horded certain positions.

I must be hated then, as I know I have 4 starters on my team.

I think the value of the QB in this league lends teams to want to horde the position, much like RBs in standard leagues.

That being said, I am willing to package a QB and a RB for a WR.

BTW...

I wouldn't object to having a cap on QBs, but the question then would be,

Is that the only position we put a cap on?

What would the cap be for each position?

And who watches for it?

Would there be a penalty for going over a cap? (As it could really mess up waiver claims. i.e: you put in a random amount of claims, and end up getting more positions then you had bargained for, which is ok, you could easily drop the extra position player immediately, but in the process your illegal cap moves could have blocked another manager's claims, thus leading to major problems.)

Just some things that would need to be discussed.

I have some of the worst QBs in the league, but I would be against a QB cap. We start 2 QBs which is unusual, but something I like. We have keepers, if you get the misfortune to have both of your QB keepers have a bye in a season, you need 2 replacements. Also, you might have a QB that isn't a starter, but could develop (e.g., Kevin Kolb) that is a reasonable hold. So, where do you set the cap? 5? 6? We don't have unlimited benches so you are sacrificing other positions to hold all of those QBs.

I might support a change to reduce our benches, but I would be against any rule that limited the number slots a specific position could have.

I think the cap should be 4, I'm fine with that... But I don't see why teams need 5-6 on the bench... How do you set it, discuss it, vote on it, etc.. And so you know, not complaining because I have 2 - bye QB's this week, I actually noticed this a week or so ago and was a bit peeved about it.. And as I said, this is just me, but I just feel it is a little bit lack of sportsmanship and being competitive.

Our waiver system sucks, I had 3 waiver request's and 2 were selected by teams with multiple waiver pick ups. I understand the bottom to top priority, but not with more than one pick up. This has happened more than once also.

I say ONE "waiver" pick up per week per team.

What say you.

Also 4 QB's max is my vote next year.

Dwff....

I don't know if I understand. Once a team makes a claim, they move to the bottom of the WW priority list. So no team should ever have 2 claims before you make your first.

Am I wrong here?

From Yahoo's Rule Section:

If more than one manager claims the same player, the team that's highest on the Waiver Priority List is given the rights to the player.

The priority list is initially set based on the reverse of the draft order. However, each time a team is awarded a player via waivers, that team is pushed to the back of the list.
If you place a claim on more than one waived player at a time, each pending transaction appears on your Team Page along with its current position in your waiver order. All new claims get appended to the end of the list, but you can alter this priority by viewing each pending claim and changing its priority in the box provided.

Yeah, most likely the player you wanted they claimed first... they then acquired other players in subsequent "rounds" of the waiver system (all rounds process one right after the other).

I'd be against any sort of QB cap. It's a free market. If QBs are that valuable that other players need them, then why didn't they pick one up sooner?

As the league is set up, not everyone can have 3 starting QBs. You need to weigh the cost of having a 3rd (or more) QB against the benefit of filling your bye week or having injury prevention or getting a big payday if someone else needs a guy on your squad. Same deal if someone's entire bench was filled with backup RBs, etc. That's just fantasy football, IMO.

I have no problem with teams hoarding talent at any position. It's a strategy, and it comes with a cost. But it can pay off too. But if we want there to always be a QB available on waivers or whatever, we should just restructure the league. Or limit everyone to 2 QBs only except on bye weeks. But I can't understand the argument that 4 is ok but 5 isn't, etc.
94Doug
      ID: 3630123
      Wed, Oct 14x, 2009, 21:59
Oh, and I WOULD agree that hoarding is a problem if someone is doing it to the detriment of the league... like, unwilling to ever trade for fair value, etc. Everyone's sense of fair value is different, but it's a question of degree... if it became a problem, then yes, it would need to be addressed. I don't think we've approached that point yet though... so I'd rather not solve a problem that doesn't exist... unless someone feels there's currently anti-competitive behavior going on?

Anyone open to the idea of expanding to a 6-team playoff format next year?

Would shorten regular season by a week (to 13 weeks), and then give a playoff bye to the top two teams.

Just seems a shame when with 4 weeks remaining over half the league is already essentially eliminated (even if a 4-6 team were to win out and go 8-6 they'd very highly likely still miss the playoffs)... so the incentive already is to trade away players and lose games in order to improve position for next year... there's nothing left to play for this year. This seems awfully early for the season to end for a team that's generally quite competitive and even in the top 5 for fantasy points scored.

(Side note: seemed to me almost every one of the top teams could have improved their roster to make a run this year by adding either Pierre Thomas or one of my WRs, surprised there wasn't so much as a single reply of interest... the asking prices wouldn't have been very high)

Doug, I thought about adding, but felt my squad was good to go, especially after already giving up a 4th rounder to get Dallas Clark.

I know I am pinning a lot on Beanie Wells, and maybe PT would have been a good add, and I guess I should have at least seen what round you wanted back.

But I think I am good to go for the gold with the guys I have! (Knock on wood!)

I see pros and cons for it, but ultimately think its a good idea.

Ocho Cinco also mentioned increasing the points for the WRs, which we did a little bit coming into this season, but if you look at WRs their scores are still pretty low.

I wouldn't have a problem adding 2 more teams to the play-offs, provided we don't have the championship game in week 17. I'm not a fan of having the championship game in week 17, due to the fact that the players who carried you to that game, have a higher likelyhood of being sat for the majority of the game.

I'd be in favor of adding more playoff teams, although I'd vote for 8. Simply because that's more teams in the playoffs and although a bye week is a nice reward, not having a fantasy game that week kind of stinks.

lol, if I'm one of the top 2 teams in the league I'd much rather have a buy week than risk a fluke upset by a team that couldn't even finish in the top 6. There's so much variation week-to-week in scores, I feel like the top teams deserve some reward for the regular season performance, and getting a one-week free pass is a nice bonus imo.

I think I also just fundamentally dislike the idea of 2/3 of the league making the playoffs... regular season should count for something a bit more... consistent performance is important.

No leagues seem to be awarding Meacham a TD. (I am in an ESPN one as well.)

Anyone have any thoughts on this? It wasn't technically an Offensive TD, because Meacham was in a defensive role after the ball had been intercepted.

In the grand picture, I don't think this affects our standings at all, but we should be clear on what it is.

I have the following up for sale:

Miles Austin or Andre Johnson (Want draft pick(s))

Beanie Wells (Very highly rated in a keeper league, but cheap here)

Ben Roethlisberger: Top QB, will miss probably 4 games to start season, but where can you find a top 10 starting QB in this league?

I'm in. If you are in need of a starting QB let me know. Things can always change, but at the moment, I believe that I have 4 starting QBs.

We keep 5 and no more than 2 from any position correct?

The trade between Electro and Barilko includes:

Electro's 3rd Round Pick
Barilko6's 7th Round Pick
It is Mark Sanchez and a 10th round pick to Ocho Cinco(Joey) for his 2nd round pick and Holt to Electo Eagles(Electroman)

These seem to be the only trades involving draft picks.

Electroman gets 2nd round pick from Joey, and 7th round pick from Barilko.
Barilko gets 3rd round pick from Electroman.
Joey get 10th round pick from Electroman.

I have just started up the league, and this year we will be honouring a 2007 Hall of Fame inductee, 14 time pro-bowler, an offensive lineman who didn't miss a game to injury over a span of 19 years!!! Honouring someone from what is considered to be a "non-skill" position....Bruce Matthews!

Year 1: Mike Singletary, Winner Dwfffan (

Hoping we can work something out, but I also realize we are still missing a lot of people from the Yahoo site still.

I will set a keeper deadline for Friday August 20th. You must name 5 keepers, no more than 2 at any one position.

Checked into Yahoo are:

I have
McNabb
Kolb
Stafford

We start two QBs, and I'm willing to move them cheap, so great value to be had if you need a 2nd QB.

Evenings work better for me, after 8 or 9PM EST.

Since the season starts on 9/9 I would prefer to have a live draft around the 3-5. The draft would be over in 2-3(?) hours and that would give us 3-4 days to set rosters and run waivers. When is the last pre-season game?

dwfffan you say you have to work at 10:30 (what time zone?) but is that when you have to be at work, or when you leave home? Whatever time you leave home if we subtract 2.5 hours from that, maybe we could do it then?

Alright...looks like expansion for the playoffs is a go. That means one less regular season week, and one bye week for the top 2 teams.

Just a reminder that this Sunday at 11:59 pm is our keeper deadline.

I still have Miles Austin available for a small draft pick upgrade.

How does the compensation picks work if I decide not to keep 5 players?

We don't have one. I guess you would get an extra pick on the back end of the draft if you like, but I would have to imagine it would be more beneficial to line up a 5th keeper.

Curious, people can't make changes after the keeper deadline can they? Not sure what time the 11:59 keeper deadline was for... Eastern, Central, etc? But just thinking it would be unfair for people to submit all their keepers then folks start making changes afterwards.

I don't see anywhere he had Charles as a keeper.

Looks like Ocho has both McCoy and Charles, and wants to keep Charles. I am inclined to allow the switch, as it came pretty close to the deadline.

If anyone has a really big problem with that, shoot me an email and let me know. If I hear enough, then I will change it back to McCoy.

Entering the keepers and draft pick trades now, see you all tomorrow night at 8:45!
