Please use this thread to send messages to your DP's about when to pick for you. Check this
thread and your email before you pick for someone else.
Use it to tell us all when you expect to be out when your turn might come up, when you are
planning to pick, etc. Use Q's if at all possible.
We are beginning with NO CLOCK, but if we do not keep the pace of 28 picks/day there will be a 4
hour clock with a pause midnight to 6 am EDT.
Use this pick to comment on picks, etc, but remember, do not mention anyone who has not yet
been picked!! |

Remember -- Loki's pickin' on Sunday hopefully before 2 pm EDT which is when his plane leaves -
- if not, then we wait until about 9 pm EDT -- after the plane lands and he gets home.
HOWEVER, you CAN set your Q's now. I see 2 that are set already.
I am at a pig roast out in the countryside from about 1 pm until 6 pm EDT on Sunday and not
sure of iPhone access, so make sure you have people other than me to DP for you!

Re:13-I know, I know, but I really was giving serious consideration to MJD. However I came to my senses and went with AP. I am flying back to NJ in the AM and with the time change will not be back until tomorrow night--it will be interesting to see where the draft will be when I get home. For any of you from the LA area, I made my 1st trip to Dodger Stadium yesterday to see MY Dodgers. It is really a beautiful ball park, and it is hard to believe that it is now the 3rd oldest stadium in MLB.

Peeked in at the RIFC draft. Some interesting picks. Some 1st rounders went in the 2nd & 3rd last year and vice-versa. I know one of mine got bumped up and he sure didn't help me win anything last year. lol

After you draft a player, please go to MFL and add him to your roster using the "Acquire a Free
Agent". This will allow you to fill in your roster and keep the MFL player data base current.
Since it is so easy to do, it is up to you to complete your roster!!!

NUTS! I just discovered that the FA move will generate an email to all of us. Gotta find a
better way - maybe load players in groups of 5? I'l check with culdeus about what to do.
The emails could get really out of hand -- over 250 of them, one fore each player...

Nice job for a Sunday -- 19 picks.
Beginning at 6 am EDT on Monday, our pace is set at 28 picks/day or we go to a 4 hour clock from 6
am to midnight EDT. In retrospect, that is pretty stupid as we need to average under an hour a pick
to meet our goal and a 4 hour clock won't get us there! It does however, let us move on (and quickly
I might add) if someone times out.
But my goal is to complete the entire draft without a clock!! Might be the first time ever...?
Please continue to pay attention to Kafenatid to anticipate your turn and leave Q's and clear
instructions for your DP's in the thread.
On Monday, I will be out for short bits here and there, but mostly checking in regularly.

I would like us to post them in groups of 5 if possible -- it is easier to enter into the
final good looking thread. It also gives you a chance to reflect on your draft trends,
strategy, and patterns -- if you have them!
So I suggest you start a WP document now and write it up round by round and hold it
until after we get to round #7. I would let you know when the thread is open.

If you have a long clock, that will just allow a person or two to really slow down the draft. Odds are if they are going to miss a 4 hr clock--they are going to miss a 6 hr clock. In fact, with the Gurupie leagues (G20/24) I did a study after several seasons of drafting that showed if they miss a 3 hour clock they will almost always miss the 4 hour clock too (IIRC only two times did they not miss the 4 if they went over 3) so we cut it to a 3 hr clock. Not saying we need to be that aggressive here--but if we need to avg a pick/hr or better--waiting 6 hrs on a pick would hurt us. So that begs the question--why have such a long clock to begin with if we can't afford to hit it?

I still can't seem to add a player and since only Judy (and now TD has added one) has done so, can we explain where to go to add your own player? Then set it so it doesn't email everyone? This will also allow us to look at FAs to see who is available. Haven't even checked to see if MFL has projections or not.

I hate penalizing managers for not making picks due to
circumstances beyond their control. I've experienced internet
outages during drafts before and it's very frustrating.
I think we should institute the 4 hour clock, but everyone
should update their best contact info on the game site or at least
email that info to Judy. That way each manager should be able to
be contacted before their clock runs out and we can make the
pick, stop the clock, or do whatever is deemed reasonably
necessary, given the individual situation.

67: I agree esp in the first 3-4 rounds. Like I said before, the clock isn't as much needed for the "typically active" manager who has an OH SNAP moment where he/she is tied up and can't make that pick in a timely manner for whatever reason. It's for the ones who seem to always slow us down. It would be awesome if kaf could set up a cumulative clock program. Not sure it's worth his time though.
I remember the first time I met Judy. Was showing her how to commish on the fly, etc. and ended up co-commishing AA in my first RIFC season. We had guys dropping out of our league etc. The draft was a joke. We stepped up and made some serious time limits and pushes and we ended up finishing ahead of others who were way ahead of us. Now look at her. A commish after my own heart! ;) She's gonna love the G24 draft. Or hate it with all the dregs left to pick from lol! ;)
I wanted to taunt Judy her after my Colts beat her Eagels last week--but it's only preseason. ;)

Look at my round #3 pick -- homer indeed. I had McNabb ranked evenly with 3*** other
QB's and the decision comes down to who can I watch on the TV? And that makes it an easy

teams -- but NEVER from the Cowboys!
RE: LT vs Westie -- I really did agonize, but then I decided that I picked draft slot #6
because I thought he would slip to there -- and actually he is going a lot further but he
would not have made it back to me for round #2. I also like the middle slots for drafting. I
think they will both have bounce back years. The tough part about my love of Eagles and
Phillies is that everybody knows it and steals my draft picks!
Loki -- I doubt Myers will be the save guy. Manuel is committed to Lidge and lately he's
been OK -- he's has had some weird things happen to him in some of his blown saves. The
triple play last night is an example of good karma and he needed that! I am not sure where
Myers will fit in as Madson has the 8th, Park is doing an awesome job as a reliever and the
other guys are OK too. We do need Romero back for a spot lefty situation. Funny that the
starters are lefty heavy and the BP is righty...
I would just like for Hamels to get back on track -- right now he is the only consistently
losing starter.

I was gonna send a q to judy because of slowhand, but know that ds and holt are ready to go now. Personally, I think Slow's pick was good for his slot and roster. Hate to slow the draft down when he's probably going to want to keep that pick since he got his QB last round.

For me, it's a lot easier to set up a Q for later in the draft when my needs are readily apparent. Early on, there seems to be so many ways to go. I think we will speed up even more for that reason moving forward.

I'm back from my demerol induced haze & I don't remember a lot due to the propofol injection. Just call me Jacko-jr. It turned out to be more than I expected that's for sure. The prep was still worse than the procedures. ugh.
Between the EGD/w biopsy of my esphagus (surprise to me!) and the colonoscopy/with surgery (pictures on both ends), I got out about 1PM (I think), went home, ate something, and slept untiil about 30 min ago. Little hazy there too.
Looking forward to wakeing up tomorrow w/coffee! lol
I'll be up for the next round when it come around (I'll set a short queue otherwise). Thanks Judy & DH for covering for me. I'd rather have been here that's for sure.

This late in the draft, when we're all scraping the bottom of the
barrel for semi decent players, it would be helpful if everyone
would add their players to their rosters on MFL so we can at least
what scrubs are left.
I don't know about the rest of you, but my cheat sheets are a
mess. All curled up, coffee stained, and just about unreadable.
Seeing what's left on MFL would make things soooo much easier.

Once they are all in, there will be a 2 day freeze and then the waive wire will open up in
reverse draft order. Two days after that, all undrafted become free agents.
I am waiting to hear from the Big Boys exactly what the settings will need to be to do all that,
so please sit tight!
