6.10 Owen Daniels
Probably reached for Daniels here but I wanted to make sure I got a Tight End from my 2nd tier (which consisted of Cooley and Daniels). Daniels had a ton of receptions and yards last year, but didnt get in the end zone very often. If he adds a few more TDs, he is easily a top tight end.

7.05 Ahmad Bradshaw
A change of pace back on what will primarily be a running team. When Derrick Ward left the Giants, he took about 36% of the teams rushing attempts with him. I think most of those extra carries go to Bradshaw. And if Jacobs misses any games like he did last season, Bradshaw will be a steal at this spot.

8.10 Jamal Lewis
A starting NFL running back in the 8th round is the best I can say with this pick. He just turned the magic 30 so people are down on him this year, but the Browns have to run the ball some of the time right? Since I made the pick, more and more tv fantasy experts have been saying he will do nothing this year, so I did end up having to handcuff him a few rounds later.

9.05 DeMeco Ryans
There had been quite a linebacker run that I was not in on so far so I had to jump in. Ryans was a tackle stud a few years ago and dropped a little since then but I think he can be a stud again.

10.10 Paul Posloszny
See note 9.05 for Ryans.

6.14 Matt Ryan, QB, Atl-There were still some very good QBs left, and I liked Ryan’s chances of improving on what was a terrific rookie season. The year’s experience plus the addition of Tony Gonzalez should add up to a productive year.

7.01 Greg Olsen, TE, Chi-There were very few good fantasy TEs remaining, and Olsen was one of them. In past years I have chosen a TE at the end of the draft, essentially punting the position. I changed my strategy and went with Olsen who should have a good season with the addition of Cutler to the Bears.

8.14 D’Qwell Jackson, LB, Cle-After 7 offensive players, it was time to work on my defense. Barring an outstanding player at another position or Team Def, LB offers the best players. My first few choices were gone, but there were still enough talented LBs to choose from, and I went with Jackson.

9.01 NY Giants, Def-There were still a number of good team defenses left, and instead of following my usual strategy of waiting until the late rounds, I decided to pick one that might actually help my team. There were a number of defenses of equal value from which to choose, but I thought that the Giants had a slight edge. Furthermore I will be able to watch my team thrash the Eagles at Giants Stadium.

10.14 Ernest Graham, RB, TB-I only had two RBs, and Graham was one of the few remaining who would probably start. He is not great, but I will be able to use him in a bye week or in event of an injury.

6.02 Jon Beason, LB, CAR
With davepyro taking another IDP at the turn, this pick should make things very interesting before my next pick. As with a bit of indecision as to which WR to pick in the 1st round, I grabbed 2 within 4 picks. Same situation here. Torn between Rudd and Beaston here, I grabbed both. Beason is definitely the centerpiece of the Panther’s D and has progressed well in his first 2 seasons. I can’t tell you how many games I’ve lost because my opponent had IDPs with double digits. This year that guy is me. Another 100+ tackle projection.

7.13 Tim Hightower, RB, AZ
Had a lot of time to ponder this pick and changed my mind several times as we got off to a rather slow start on Wednesday. Not that I regret taking back to back LBs last go round, but every move that you make has consequences later on. Hell, I seriously considered taking DeMeco Ryans here for a while. Thought I might get a mid-level QB for a long time, but ultimately decided to go with a RB, as I felt that some managers were reaching at this point and since I waited on my RBs to start with, I figured I best grab one now. I like Hightower in particular for several reasons. He knows how to find the end zone. He’s a good blocker and has very good pass catching skills. The last thing I can’t talk about right now, but will touch on it later. Yeah, I know all the hype about Wells. But I just don’t believe that he will stay healthy enough all year to hurt Hightower’s production. (no disrespect intended to B7’s pick of Wells)

8.13 Matt Hasselbeck, QB, SEA
This is really the first round that anyone severely depleted my queue. Moss, Cooley, Lewis, and Roethlisberger were all taken from my queue. The first three were good bargains according to my draft rankings. Fortunately I still had 3 other QBs queued up. The problem was, which one should I take. I really wanted Big Ben, but Matt Hasselbeck has been a Top 10 QB on a per game basis for the majority of his career. His receiving corp looks much improved with the addition of T.J. Houshmandzadeh, the further maturation of TE John Carlson, the healthy return of (undrafted), and the addition of a rookie (undrafted).

9.13 San Diego Chargers, DEF
By now, some of the higher projected defenses were coming off the board. I had SD ranked just outside the top 5, so I felt it was time to grab one now. They suffered some significant injuries on that side of the ball last year and were a bit disappointing. With those players coming back healthy, the drafting of some depth, and playing some weak AL west teams twice, I expect a bounce back season for this group.

10.02 John Carlson, TE, SEA
Last year as a rookie, Carlson was the leading receiver due to injury decimation of the Seahawks WRs. Even with the addition of T.J. Houshmandzadeh, and a healthy (undrafted) and Nate Burleson, Carlson should have a good season. New HC Jim Mora brought back OC Gregg Knapp from Atlanta and will continue to run the same WCO as the previous regime. And we all know how important TE (undrafted) was in Atlanta under Mora and Knapp. Carlson was a second round pick last year who runs precise routes and has soft hands.

I have a propensity to draft a QB/receiver or TE combo from the same team, as a TD pass from that duo can deal a striking blow to whom ever is my unlucky opponent in any given week.

6.09 Baltimore RAvens DEF
I was still p***ed at this point, stewed all afternoon about D Jack move/non move. I saw a couple of IDP/DEF being taken and decided to go there. The Ravens will be fine, and should get me 15 - 20 points per game, with maybe a few more on occasion. I felt that was more consistent than going with an IDP who can be great or awful or just average on any given day. I didn’t feel there were a lot of OFF guys that were worth a round 6 pick, but then my round 4 and 5 were not worth 4/5 either. Bad day overall (Tuesday). Hope it does not cost me. Sigh.

7.06 Percy Harvin WR MIN
This was a bit of a reach, but I like the upside of some rookies -- notice D Brown in round #5.. Last year I took a flyer on D Jack, Royal and Mayo and they all did well for me (although I dropped Mayo midway in a bye crunch). Oops. I like Harvin for the skill set he brings. No matter who is chucking the rock in Minnie (and I really do not believe Favre will last the season), there are many ways to get the ball to Harvin. He does need to stay out of non football trouble though. I liked him better than some of the WR2/3 vets still around. Now I have 2 WR -- got to go find some more. A little happier today so far (Wednesday).

8.09 LeSean McCoy RB EAGLES
I previously mentioned my lack of RB last year and my goal to “fix” it. I wanted McCoy for two reason: 1) he is very good and 2) he is the handcuff to Westie! Need I say more?

9.05 Donnie Avery WR STL
Avery is described in some cheat sheets as a sleeper. An early injury had me worried, but he is supposed to be fine now and will play this week. He is the WR1 for STL, and although he will have Bulger/Boller chucking the rock to him, I expect him to to well. He really is the only WR they have and hopefully they won’t cover him out of existence. Will pick up some more WR2/3 later just in case. In truth, I wanted Walter HOU here, but DaBomb snatched him at 5.03. Oh, well -- they were rated pretty even but Walter has a better QB situation.

10.09 Eric Weddle DB SD
It was time to dip into the IDP pool and I usually like what the DB and LB bring. A lot of the top LB were already gone so I decided to look for a top DB and Eric fit the bill. I wanted a DB who gets a lot of tackles. My first DB last year, ***, was great in interceptions but could not tackle a lick and it was painful to watch him wait for others to tackle so he could then pile on. That does me no good. Eric has been pretty steady in his first two years of full time starting and with a stronger DL to pressure the QB, maybe he will even get to make some big plays for me!

6.07 Hines Ward WR, Pitt
Was looking to pick up a WR here, and last year I had looked at Ward and passed on him. I regretted it. I thought that he was a little old, and was due for a decline, but he had a solid year. I was not going to pass on him again.

7.08 Lendale White RB, Tenn
Thought about taking my first IDP here, but looked at who was available, and saw White. I could not pass on this. He scored TD’s. For a 3rd RB, I am very happy that I landed him.

8.07 E.J. Henderson LB, Minn
This was where I was looking at picking an IDP. Looked at a couple of players, but decided on Henderson based on two seasons ago. He was injured, so there was a bit of hesitation on my part, but he should be good to go. This guy is a tackle machine.

9.08 Donald Driver WR, GB
Thought about taking the Viking DST, but saw that Driver was available, and hope my other choice would drop to me. Driver is in a high powered offense, and will get his fare share of catches. As a 4th, I like having him on my bench for bye weeks and injuries.

10.07 Tennessee Titans DST
As I mentioned it the 9th pick, I was looking at the Vikings, and hoped that it would drop. They didn’t, so I got the Titans. They lost Haynesworth and others in the offseason, but they are still a dominant group.

6.03 Pittsburgh Steelers Defense

This was one of the highest scoring players last year. There is about a 100 point dropoff between this team and the 14th team. That's a TD per week on average. I don't think they got any worse. Somehow, they got the 5th easiest schedule, also. The experts would ridicule this pick as being too early. I ran the numbers thru my head, and it is OK. So now I have, arguably the best wideout receiver, the best slot receiver, the best quarterback, the best defense and the 24th and 25th best running backs. Interesting.

7.12 Steve Breaston, WR, ARI

So far, he's their return guy on KR and PR. Arrington did some of this, but he is gone. Toss in 70 catches for 1000 yards and he's good to go. Easily my best receiving crew in RIFC history.

8.03 Beanie Wells, RB, ARI

Being a long-time Ohio State fan, I'm picking Beanie. Do you people not watch college football. Pick #101? I don't know what people see in XXXX. He had like two yards per carry. He got beat out by Undrafted and then Undrafted got cut. Where does that put XXXX? Are they going to start the first rounder or the 6th rounder. Who will get the goal-line carries, the 230 pounder or the 210 pounder? I think the injury thing is overblown also, which may be why some stayed away. My RB situation is starting to shape up.

9.12 Leodis McKelvin, DB, BUFF

Leodis (We were going to name our son that) came out of nowhere last year to ba top scoring DB. Was he a great defender, or tackler, or interceptor? Of course not, he happened to run back kickoffs. And he's pretty good at it. This year, it says he is a starting CB, and so far I think he is running back kickoffs again. We call him McLovin in our poli-league.

10.03 Kellen Winslow, TE, TB

John Mackey, Tony Gonzalez, Kellen Winslow some of the greatest tight ends of all time. That's Kellen Winslow, Sr. not this underachiever. He was good in college.
He had some strange staph infection last year. It's OK now. But, new team, 3 new QB"s. new coach at the new team. My cheat sheet has him up with the top 4. So, why not?

6.05 Devin Hester, WR, CHI
Hester was taken as a #2 receiver & for his value as a KR. The big arm of Cutler will improve the downfield ability of Hester as he can stretch the field (as long as he catches the ball). I look for the improvement to come in the 2nd quarter of 4 games of the season. They'll need at least 4 games to get a good feel for their own capabilities. The last half the season should be interesting.

7.10 Shawne Merriman, LB, SDG
LB's started going off the board in the 5th round and I wanted a pass rushing LB and I believe Merriman has recovered from his knee injury & will return to his 2007 form in 2009. He's the heart of the SD defense and as he goes, so goes SD.

8.05 Santana Moss, WR, WAS
Moss was the highest ranked WR on my board and I needed a 3rd quality WR to fill out my roster. He is Campbell's favorite target downfield and can beat the press when Campbell can get time to get the ball to him.

9.10 Julius Jones, RB, SEA
Jones is the 3rd RB and hopefully will only be needed to fill in on bye weeks. He's the primary back in Seattle as their 2nd back is EJ and he's only going to be useful for short yardage situations. Not a prime back, but hopefully not a full time back I need either.

10.05 Patrick Crayton, WR, DAL
Crayton is the flanker opposite Roy Williams in Dallas. He worked on his explosiveness at the Michael Johnson Performance Center in McKinney, TX this off-season. Depending on the situation, he's capable of putting up decent numbers for Dallas. He's also Dallas' primary punt returner.

6.04 Lance Moore WR NOR

Still didn't have a WR. Had to take one. I figured Moore had the best TD upside. He was huge for me last season. Helped get me into the playoffs where my Bradyless squad was promptly thrashed.

B7 took the Steelers def right before this pick so he sucks. I wanted the Steelers. I don't think I would have made a move til the 7th rd though.

7.11 Josh Wilson DB SEA

Some of you don't know who he is. The rest of you know exactly who he is because he beat your team's ass last season. He scored 180 fantasy points last season, 45 more than the second highest scoring DB (Blackmon). You never know exactly what is going to happen as far as kick returns go, but I'm banking on Wilson retaining the same roles he had last season. 180 from an IDP is nuts.

8.04 Torry Holt WR JAX

I'm a lifelong Rams fan, familiar with his past greatness, pretty sure those days are long gone. Still, he's the go-to-guy for Jax this year. At this point in the draft, 900 yds and 5 td's is acceptable.

I would have taken Breaston but B7 stole him. Moss, Ginn, and Avery were also considered. Prob should have taken Ginn or Avery. They're younger and have their best days in front of them. Still, I think Holt can out-TD those guys.

9.11 Minnesota Vikings DEF MIN

Not the Steelers, but widely regarded as the #2 or #3 defense to go with this season. Having one of the top defs can be a huge advantage, so I think it's well worth taking a stab at one early.

I really regretted this pick though. I wanted the Vikings AND Leodis McKelvin. I just had to decide which to take at 9.11 and which to try to slip through to 10.04. I actually wanted McKelvin more than I wanted the Vikes, but I thought there was a greater chance of him slipping. Nope. B7 is a douchebag once again and takes McKelvin at 9.12. Are you %^*&ing kidding me? Most of my team is on his team.

10.04 Jerricho Cotchery WR NYJ

I'm not gonna try to flower this one up. I was pissed about the McKelvin raid so I just grabbed the consensus top WR available. An acceptable WR3 for me, I guess. Should put up 7 pts per game or so. Whee.

6.01 Jared Allen, DL, Minn
My VBD spredsheet had a huge gap from #1DL to #10DL of 30 points, so I had to grab a top one. They play an easy schedule and he has other good DL teammates. I was looking for starters that will play every week for me. I was also looking TE, I thought I could wait a bit longer.

7.14 Ray Lewis, LB, Balt
He is old for LB, but I saw his intensity in previous game. I wanted at least 2 excellent MLB to anchor my IDP's every week. Good supporting cast around him.

8.01 Karlos Dansby, LB, Arizona
An active ILB that rushes the passer and plays a weak schedule in NFC West. Some really good LB's were taken before here so I had to get a good one while he was here.

9.14 Derrick Mason, WR, Balt
It was time to get some bench depth. I had him at #19WR and should have taken him earlier. I really like Joe Flacco to go deep frequently. But it is a rushing offense. I wanted Donald Driver or Beanie Wells here, but once again someone took them before my pick.

10.1 Willis McGahee, RB, Balt
I had him rated about here, and I was not real sure that Rice would carry at goalline, and may not get all the carries. I do not handcuff a lot, but here I thought it was justified. I had wanted Ahmad Bradshaw, but he was long gone. Later I took Danny Ware as another handcuff.

6.08 Knowshon Moreno RB Den.

After my last pick (Addai)I really started to waffle on what I wanted here,I originally planned on a QB (Palmer or Ryan) or WR ,but with 4 WR picked just before me it seemed like a reach for anyone else. Moreno looks to have the starter job and although Shanahan is out I expect them to still rely heavily on the run. I'm not as happy with these last 2 picks as I was my earlier ones and unfortunately I don't shore up my WR position for several picks...I hope it doesn't cost me.

7.07 James Harrison LB Pit.

One of the biggest problems with most of my RIFC teams is lack of dfensive production. It may have cost me my slot with the big boys last year and I vowed to remedy that this year. When last year's #1 defensive point scorer was available here it seemed like a good place to start. If anything Pittsburgh's defense may have improved and their schedule is pretty easy.

8.08 Ben Roethlisberger QB Pit.

I've usually had good luck with drafting consistant QBs a bit later in the draft and Big Ben fills the bill. While I will rarely if ever get a 4 TD 400 yrd outing from Ben I can be assured of a consistant 15-20 points a week and good durability which is what I need in yhis slot.

9.07 Jerrod Mayo LB NE

As I said earlier one of my main goals this year is to shore up my defense. Mayo, last years Def rookie of the year, and top in tackles at NE should only get better this year. My Def. rankings have him 4th overall and I thought he was a steal at this spot.

10.08 Eli Manning QB NYG
Much of what I said about Roethlisberger can be said about Eli as well, consistant, durable, however also unlikely to give you the big game. But with these guys I can substitute freely and play the match-up game and not have to worry about injuries. I did briefly consider a WR at this spot but those I considered (Driver,Cotchery,Crayton) went much earlier last round.

6.06 Lee Evans WR BUF
This was a tough pick for me. I still felt that one or both of my QBs would fall to me. There were still teams who didnt' ahve QBs and still higher "rated" QBs left that I was sure others who needed QBs would take. I didn't feel that most would take two QBs ths early like DS would do. Also didn't see any big RBs left that wouldn't be there later. Was trying not to reach. Evans is a mixed bag and here what was going through my head when debating him. First I almost took him last round when I grabbed LB Willis. Now he's still here. Not shocked, but mildly surprised. Evans is basically a #1 WR in a WR2 role. With TO at #1 that could tkae off the double teams that hounded Evans last season. That could mean a lot more targets. But You know TO is gonan get his and Buffalo and Edwards is gonna placate the cry baby. Also when it comes to red zone targets, TO will always get the first look. This could hurt Evans. Also when you factor in the tough Buffalo wind and inconsistent Edwards--it could be tough. But I thought he was the BPA and even though is my 3rd WR, he could be in line for some nice points. Just couldn't pass on him again.

7.09 Jonathan Vilma LB NOR
Had o intention of taking Vilma. Hell he's probably not even the best LB available. He's injury prone and no spring chicken. BUT, I still felt my QBs were good and by the tiem it got back aroudn to me, several otehr LBs could go nwo that people are finaly getting around to taking them. While Vilma may have still been there--I am SURE the QBs I want will be there. Didn't want to reach for any other position. Also looked at all the other LBs and quite frankly, I like Vilma better. The ismple erason is that he will make tackles and plenty of them. Tackles are the mian consistent factor I look at when studying IDPs as they can be relied on--esp. from a MLB perspective. NO Def will give him PLENTY of opps. He may not sack or INT or PDs with the best of them but that's fine. That's just icing anyhow. So made the pick. Was it a reach? Perhaps in the definition, but it wouldn't be a reach next round and I'm still going to get the QB I want.

8.06 Matt Cassel QB KAN
I knew he'd be here for me. Now it's just the matter if I am taking Cassel or Hass. Well looking at the roster grid, I should be able to get them both. I love Hass' schedule and his weapons, but I value Cassel just a little more. His system is going to throw a lot more and Cassel is a pretty agile runner. Rushing yards can really help.

9.09 Jonathan Stewart RB CAR
Well, I had all planned to get Hass here but apparently there was an earlier trade and the team who didn't have a QB yet plucked Hass. At first I thought it was a terrible pick until I realized it was the QBless team to get him. Now what a GREAT pick it was. I wish Kaf showed traded picks though....I digress. Having my QB plans thwarted means that no one will likely go QB this round--everyone has one (except DS two). I definitely want to get another Qb quickly if one is still there jsut inc ase Cassel gets hurt with that awful Oline. Def not getting thigpen or croyle either and I want a starting QB with a diff. bye week. It looks like Garrard is there and will do well and shouldn't go before it gets back to me. So I really need a 3rd RB. It looks like Stewart and Julious Jones have really slipped for some reason. With Edge in at Seattle perhaps Stewart is the best to go with even though JJ might get more carries. Stewart may get more scores and injury doesn't appear to be serious. If Garrard goes by some great surprise, maybe I should get JJ on the way back--though he shouldn't make it--but he's lasted this long.

10.06 David Garrard QB JAX
As suspected JJ got snapped up with the pick right after me. I'm getting Garrard now as some might start looking at a 2nd QB wih their 2nd-3rd tier QBs. I think Garrard is underated though his weapons are well...what weapons? To put up those numebrs w/o weapons is a testament to his ability. Like him better than Roeth.

6.11 Felix Jones RB DAL
Felix Jones was very productive rookie until he got injured last season. I expect him to play a big part in the Cowboys offense this season, and share RB duties with Marion Barber. I think he is a steal at this pick, and will be a RB2. I was really hoping he would be available at this pick.

7.04 DeMarcus Ware LB DAL
Several LBs were already taken, and I wanted to get a top one. Ware is in his prime at age 27, will be near the top of the league in sacks, and post solid tackle numbers. Also considered James Harrison, but I was concerned his numbers would drop off this year.

8.11 Chris Cooley TE WAS
I needed a TE, and I thought there was a big dropoff after Cooley. Cooley has been a big part of the Redskins offense the last several years. He only had 1 TD last season, but his receptions and yardage were still high. I think last year was an aberration, and he will score 6-8 TDs this season.

9.04 London Fletcher LB WAS
Fletcher always puts up big tackle numbers, and I expect that to continue. Adding Haynsworth to the DL should help him get more tackles.

10.11 Rashard Mendenhall RB PIT
I expect Mendenhall to share RB duties for the Steelers with Parker. He was a disappointment as a 1st round pick last year, but he will get his chances to play this year. I needed a RB3 who was sure to get some playing time.
