21.12 Charles Tillman, DB, CHI

I had this guy a couple years ago. It's all one big blur now. I recall him doing well. He's a good tackler and not that great in coverage....a fantasy dream.

22.03 Mike Goodson, RB, CAR

Rolling the dice in the 22nd round. I saw this guy a lot at A&M. He has NFL speed. I envision him as a Felix Jones type. He was recruited by Southern Cal at tailback.
Never fit in well with the A&M systems. May return kickoffs.

23.12 Alphonso Smith, DB, DEN

I saw this low draft choice, rookie, defensive back, on TV returning kicks. I'll give him a couple weeks.

24.03 Chaz Schilens, WR, OAK

I will stash this guy on my 9 man bench. He was a sleeper until he broke his foot.

My apologies if I offended anyone with these rationales. It was probably a weak attempt at injecting humor into this dry material.

21.06 Erik Coleman DB ATL
DB are indeed a dime a dozen, so why not get a few more? As a FS, he gets to roam the backfield,
making tackles galore; I am hoping for around 80. I would like a few more INT’s though. The line needs
to put more pressure on the QB for that to happen and all ATL did was draft defense guys, so their DEF
should be improving as the season progresses.

22.09 Cadillac Williams RB TB
We are getting to the bottom of the barrel here, so with 5 WR and 4 RB, I decided to even it up with
Caddy. This kid has certainly been through the school of hard knocks with his knees. I don’t really
expect him to stay healthy all year; I have him more as a handcuff for D Ward (after E Graham). Just for
his sake, I would like him to have a good year, even if it is on my bench. The kid has worked hard to
rehab his knees for several years now!

23.06 AJ Hawk LB GB
What’s not to like about another LB? There were a couple of others that I had rated above AJ, but they
had lousy bye weeks. He has been pretty consistent over his career, averaging about 80 tackles. He gets
a lot of assists as well ~25 or so. GB has retooled its DEF so he should be a good part of that. I hope he
does not have to share too many tackles with the other guys though!!

24.09 Byron Leftwich QB TB
I was praying really hard that he would land with me! Trent Edwards and the Bills (see 11.06 -- what a
waste) are really bad so I needed to pick up a QB2 and fortunately, TB announced their starter over the
weekend. Phew. I do not expect too much from him, except not to make a lot of misteaks(!). During
Donovan’s bye week, TB plays the Redskins so that is not too bad a matchup I hope.

I pretty much like my team with a few notable misdrafts to be covered in the Draft ReCap.

21.01 Adewale Ogunleye, DL, Chi- A good DL who I can use during Justin Tuck’s bye week.

22.14 Todd Heap, TE, Bal- Bye week TE.

23.01 Lawrence Tynes, K, NYG- One of a number of good PKs left to fill the roster slot.

24.14 Kevin Payne, DB, Chi- I needed another DB, and I have seen Payne ranked as high as 3rd on some cheat sheets; Mr. irrelevant may prove to have some value.

21.07 Miles Austin WR Dal.

A bit of a deep sleeper here that may have some value because of his size (6-3 216) and his deep play ability , in limited playing time he showed great potential with 5 catches of 20+ yds.

22.08 Adam Vinateri K Ind.

Who knows?? Until last season Indy was the only team to rank in top 10 of kickers for 5 years in a row. Vinateri was hurt last year and had off-season surgery, so a return to top 10 form seems reasonable. Actually I'd hoped to get Crosby for my kicker but Electroman stole him earlier.

23.07 Aaron Curry LB Sea.

Curry, although a rookie will start along side Tatupu and Hill for a fairly impressive trio. He can fill in for bye weeks and may end up starting a few as Seattle plays the weak NFC West.

24.07 James Jones WR GB

He outplayed Nelson for the 3rd WR spot his rookie year until a knee injury side-lined him,and as GB is expected to play several 4 reciever sets may see a fair amount of playing time. Plus he's a Packer ;-)

21.10 Jacksonville Jaguars, DEF, JAX
Thought I'd grab my bye week defense here considering the Cowboys bye is week 6. Jags have a good W6 matchup vs the Rams on the road.

22.05 Buffalo Bills, DEF, BUF
Total mistake pick. Was my intention to take a kicker with this pick and 4 of the next 6 that went off the board before my next pick would have fit the bill. You can't fix mental errors, so we move on.

23.10 Neil Rackers,K, ARI
Needed a kicker to finalize my roster and he was the best rated on the board. Wasn't who I necessarily wanted, but sometimes the picks fall that way.

24.05 Sebastian Janikowski, K, OAK
Backup to Rackers until he get past his bye in week 4 or until I need the roster spot for someone else.

21.08 Mason Crosby K, GB
Had targeted this spot for a kicker. I read that Crosby wants to hit 90% of his FG’s. Well, that would be good. But he is the kicker for an offense that will score points. We’ll see how he does.

22.07 Julian Peterson LB, Det
I needed a 3rd LB to cover for my two that have the same bye. Pederson had a decline in numbers last year, that would come with age. He is a usable LB for covering a bye. Lions D should be on the field a lot too, and being in a defensive system, that should be a positive.

23.08 Sydney Rice WR, Minn
At this point of the draft, just filling out my roster. I wanted another receiver. This guy will probably be one of my first cuts if someone becomes more attractive. But I hope that he could develop an endzone rapport with Favre.

24.07 San Francisco 49ers DST
Bye week D. Like Singletary, and hopefully his mentality will rub off on them. Honestly, picked them without doing much research.

21.09 Samkon Gado RB STL
Too early to go K for me, so I'm going to wait at least another round. I was kind of likeing Crosby and IIRC he went right in front of me anyhow. MY DL guy in Schobel will prob be there for me in the last round so let's go ahead and try and handcuff SJ. STL wil run run and run some more. Gado has done well in the preseason and seems to have the backup job. He's versatile enough to score some points too if he get sthe job. He will get some plays as it is. I hope it's a wasted pick and SJ does well and stays healthy.

22.06 Ryan Longwell K MIN
Was going to wait another round on a K, but was surprised that Longwell was still there. I had him up in the top 4 or 5 Ks this year and yet all those Ks have gone off the board. I have to get him here. Minny will be very good and Longwell should get ample opp to put up some points.

23.09 Nick Folk K DAL
Really had no intention of getting another K. Figured I'd get a K off the wire the week of the bye week. But I like Folk. He, too, should get ample opp to score and if Longwell gets hurt, Folk is right behind him in fantasy points. He's the only other K in this tier IIRC and there is no way DS is passing on him with the next pick with him playing for Dallas. If I get him, I'll have to forego the 3rd DB. I doubt if anyone else wants Schobel as no one else in Kaf has picked him at this point anyhow. I think Folk could be a lot better for me if somehting happens to Longwell than another DB.

24.06 Aaron Schobel DL BUF
I think this guy is underated. He has a lot of upside and some charts don't even have him mentioned. When it comes down to it, it's a DL. He does avg about 8 sacks/year IIRC and gets his share of tackles.

21.14 Takeo Spikes, LB, SF
I wanted another LB and he has a very easy schedule in NFC West. I was hoping coach Singletary would help him. I should have done more research, but we will see. It is hard to research LB's in heavy traffic on a cell phone.

22.01 Atari Bigby, DB, GB
I liked him from last year, and I think GB has a great defense. See pick above for research issues. After this pick I realized I only had 2 more picks and I had no kicker and only one defense. I really sweated the long wait to my next choices.

23.14 Indianapolis Colts, Def
I had them as #13DEF after some 20 DEF picks. I will not use them a lot unless they play Seattle or Detroit.

24.01 Jeff Reed, K, Pitt
I should have taken a kicker sooner, but am happy with my last pick. I was so relieved that I made it to the end, and really hope I did not hold up the draft very often.

It would be really nice if someone said that I took a player that they wanted really bad, but I think I reached on way too many picks.

21.13 Kris Brown, K, HOU
During his first five years in Houston, Kris Brown hit 70.8
percent, 81.8 percent, 70.8 percent, 76.5 percent, and 76.0
percent on field goals. His numbers have improved the last two
years. In 2007 he made 86.2 pecent (26 of 29) and last year he
hit a career best 87.9 percent (29 of 33). Brown has the range to
hit longer field goals. Over the last two years he is 7 of 8 from
50+ yards, including a long of 57 yards. He also kicks in a
stadium with a retractable roof and his week 10 bye will allow
me to beef up at another position and not have to carry his bye
week replacement for most of the season.
22.02 Anthony Fasano, TE, MIA
A poor man’s Jason Witten. The Dolphins found a player when
they traded for TE Anthony Fasano last year. He is a skilled
receiving tight end who caught seven touchdowns for the club
last year. His downfield blocking is better than advertised and
he can get open down field. He finished with 34 receptions and
a very strong 13.4 YPR average. At only 25, his best days are
still ahead of him. I like him enough to possibly utilize him at
the WR/TE position at times this year should I choose to due to
injuries or bye week issues.
23.13 Leonard Weaver, RB, PHIL
The Eagles signed Weaver because they want more versatility out
of the fullback position. Weaver may be new to the team but he
comes from another West Coast offense in Seattle and should
pick up the playbook quickly. Ideally, Weaver will fill an
important role and be used as both a short yardage option and
a receiver in certain packages. When Brian Westbrook gets hurt,
Weaver could have an advantage over (undrafted) and LeSean
McCoy for playing time, as (undrafted) has been unimpressive
and HC Andy Reed is not one to rely much on rookies. Even
Westy was rarely used in his rookie season.
24.02 Derrick Johnson, LB, KC
Johnson will play the strong side ILB position and should get
ample chances to be a strong player or find himself as my first
player to find the waver wire. Low risk/high reward flyer taken
in the last round.

21.04 Nate Kaeding K SDG
I planned to take a K, IDP, and whatever with next 3 picks, and then Dan Orlovsky (backup to Schaub) with my last pick. It is not important for me to have a backup TE, K, or Def, as I can pick a free agent during bye weeks. I think Kaeding will be one of the top kickers in the league this year. I thought the other players I was thinking of drafting would still be around in rounds 22 and 23.

22.11 Sabby Piscitelli DB TAM
I never heard of Piscitelli before coming across him in a fantasy draft guide, but I liked his name. From what I read, he will be starting for the first time, and has a chance to put up good numbers.

23.04 Eric Barton LB CLE
Barton had over 90 solo tackles with the Jets last year. I expect his production to be about that same as he moves with Mangini to Cleveleand.

24.11 Dan Orlovsky QB HOU
Backup to Schaub. I was planning to use this pick for Orlovsky after drafting Schaub.
