13.07 – Brian Urlacher, LB, CHI

I really wanted to take McGahee here, but I could not pass up on Urlacher falling so far down the board. While he’s not a top 5 lock like he used to be, I think top-15 is likely and there’s no way he’d make it back around. We’ll see if McGahee slides another dozen picks.

14.08 – Willis McGahee, RB, BAL

Not only did McGahee not go, no RB picks have been made in nearly 3 full rounds. I don’t see a lot of differentiation between the remaining DBs, and I’ll probably just take a couple of late flyers on LBs since so many emerge each year. I’d be very happy to take some riskier RB and WR picks over the next couple of rounds if everyone else continues to take defensive players.

McGahee still has talent, but so does the guy in front of him on the depth chart. Worst case, he’s a bye week fill-in that won’t kill me if I have to start him. Best case, he could earn the starting job and be a steal here.

15.07 – Shaun Hill, QB, SF

I pulled up Kafenatid and saw that Antoine Winfield was queued up for me as I had put in earlier, then I realized that I was looking at jseth’s queue. Oh well. Had to regroup and I decided I should get another QB just in case Cassel’s injury Saturday night is serious. Hill was at the top of my list and should be an adequate fill-in if needed.

16.08 – Lofa Tatupu, LB, SEA

Tatupu is another good player surrounded by mediocrity. While I don’t expect him to be a top-10 guy, I think he will perform to a LB2 level, which works fine for me.

17.07 – Justin Durant, LB, JAX

It seems like I take a different Jacksonville LB every year, from undrafted to undrafted, and oh yeah, undrafted. We’ll see if Durant plays well enough to be drafted next year so he can be discussed in the draft.

18.08 – Michael Bush, RB, OAK

Bush has got a lot of talent but just hasn’t put it together until now. I’m rooting for McFadden as a fellow Hog, but if he were to falter Bush could step in and be starter-worthy. That’s about as good as it gets this far down in the draft at RB.

13.09 Trent Cole, DE, PHI

I like to get my DL early to make sure I get one that will put up some numbers. I think I have had Cole for the last three years and he's always been good for about 7 ppg. You can't ask much more out of your DL.

14.06 Dustin Keller, TE, NYJ

Lots of TE's went off the board by this time and I felt there wasn't much left. I was shooting for Celek but he was gone, so I took Keller, who I had last year. Keller should be more involved in the offense this year and I think he will be at the least serviceable.

15.09 Johnnie Lee Higgins, WR, OAK

I had neglected WR since round 7 and needed some kind of backup. Higgins is a return specialist and if he puts up the kind of numbers he did last year in the return game, he will be a top 10 WR. I just hope he does particularly well in week 8, as my other three WR all have byes.

16.06 Ernie Sims, LB, DET

Sims, just one of those un-flashy guys that gets tackles. I think he will have a better year than last in a new system. Decent enough for IDP #2.

17.09 Charles Woodson, DB, GB

There are two types of DB's in the NFL for fantasy. Those that score via tackles, and those that score by making plays. Woodson is a playmaker. INT's, PD's, TD's. Maybe not the most consistent scorer but he can put up some numbers.

18.06 Shonn Greene, RB, NYJ

This is a flyer pick based on the fact that he doesn't yet have a starting job, but I have a feeling he will get into games quite a bit and make an impact. Coming off an astounding year at Iowa, he is durable and tough, and knows how to score. I think at the least he may be the Jets version of LenDale White, and that is fine by me in the 18th round.

13.03 - Danieal Manning, DB, CHI - I did not have a defensive back and was hoping that I could come out with either Leodis McKelvin or Josh Wilson. Unfortunately, they went earlier than I planned to take a defensive back, so I locked up the NFL’s best Kick Returner. While he only sees reps as the Bears’ nickel back and reserve free safety, I think he can be good for an average of 8ppg, which isn’t bad for a defensive back. Assuming anyone gets injured on the Bears, he could develop into something nice.

14.12, A.J. Hawk, LB, GNB - Boom or bust pick. A.J. Hawk is either going to be a tackling machine, or find himself on the waiver wire. There will be no in-betweens with him. Since Green Bay is switching to a 3-4 ran by Dom Capers, the only comparison I could think of was DeMeco Ryans (circa 2006) being the best-case scenario and Morlon Greenwood being the worst-case scenario. Either way, I limited my risk and locked up a solid starting LB.

15.03, Nate Burleson, WR, SEA - I had Nate Burleson targed to go in the 12th round if Coles was taken, so to get what looks to be my last WR in the 15th is a tremendous coup. While I don’t expect Nate Burleson to handle the punt duties anymore as Justin Forsett has locked that job up, he could still post some solid #’s as a bye-week cover.

16.12, Tashard Choice, RB, DAL - This gives me 2/3rds of the Dallas backfield and should anything happen to Felix Jones, I’m covered.

17.03, Thomas Davis, LB, CAR - At this point, I was just looking for depth at LB and took a huge risk in Thomas Davis given his recent knee problems. When healthy, this guy is a playmaker who can not only sack the QB, but also amass 110+ tackles in a season alongside Jon Beason. If Davis stays healthy all season, this is an awesome pickup, but if he’s banged up I’ll have to go into the bargain bin…

18.12, Seattle Seahawks, D/ST - I didn’t see anything that really screamed “take me” in the 18th, so getting a backup defense in which I could play matchups each week was the best option for me. I get a team that has some favorable match-ups and, barring injuries, a front 7 as good as any team in the NFL.

13.12 Julius Peppers, DL, CAR
I believe he's the best defensive lineman in the league still. When it comes to DL though I usually don't hit, so I thought I went with one of the most sure things in the league. 10 sacks minimum, with 40 tackles, should be good, but if he ends up with 16 sacks I won't be surprised. He was the 5th DL off the board and I have him at #3, so it's a pretty good deal in my book!

14.03 Gary Brackett, LB, IND
The best player available on my board just so happens to be on my favorite team. At some point I have to be a homer. The Colts still have no DTs to stop the run, so they'll be relying on their LBs, since the outside positions are young, inexperienced, and not good tacklers, I went with the sure tackler, and the MLB. He should put up 110 tackles and for the 27th LBer off the board he's good value.

15.12 Laurence Maroney, RB, NE
I watched the Pats game a few nights ago and he looked pretty decent. He'll probably start as the #2 RB, but I only need him for a week 7 bye. By then Fragile Freddy and his old bones will probably be hurt which puts Maroney at the #1. Even if he isn't the #1 by week 7, it looks like he'll have KR duties, and he's a pretty good pass catcher, so I could see him getting 12 or 13 points as a bye week fill in, which in round 15 isn't bad.

16.03 Brett Favre, QB, MIN
Really good and reliable back up QBs are tough to get in RIFC leagues, especially when you wait until round 16. I feel like I got a steal here, as Favre is about a good a bye week fill as you can get. Cutler has a week 5 bye and Favre plays at a fairly week STL defense that week. If he doesn't throw anymore crackback blocks then I should have a healthy future HOFer playing for me then. If not then I'll have to go a try and get a waiver wire scrub. Won't be the first time I'll have to do that.

17.12 Jeremy Maclin, WR, PHI
I find myself making it a habit of drafting him in a ton of my leagues. I did that last year with Roddy White, and that turned out great. He could start the season as the #2 WR or the #4, who knows. I've got really low expectations for his recieving stats, but the weeks I'll need him to play Philly sees Oakland, Dallas and San Diego. The Oakland game could be a big game since their D isn't exactly scaring anyone (They are good, just not to the point of shutting anyone down) and he could get an 80 yard 1 TD performance. Dallas and San Diego could be big in another way, as their high scoring teams, and he'll be the KR guy for Philly. Could he get 10 points from KR yards in these games? I hope so.

18.03 Rey Maualuga, LB, CIN
I've been watching Hard Knocks, and it's been making me really like Bengals players for fantasy teams. Estaban 85 is on a couple of my teams, and I've flirted with drafting Palmer and Benson. But Maualuga has really made an impact on me while watching the show. He's a fierce firery competitor who has a nose for the ball. I think this guy will become a big time playmaker on the defensive side of the ball and Cincy got a steal in the 2nd round with him. Did I get the same sort of steal?

13.14 Tampa Bay Buccaneers DEF TAM
I like to have very good D's that I can swap depending on match-ups. Team D's are a spot that can make or break a week, but predicting them is beyond impossible. I have 2 Ds that should be in the top 25% of the league at the end of the season, hopefully I can play the match-ups correctly and have a slight advantage here each week.

14.01 Curtis Lofton LB ATL
With some of the departures on the ATL D, Lofton should become an every down backer, projected out his stats to full time, he should be a top-15 LB. If my other 2 LBs can meet their expectations that could give me 3 top-15 LB and a decided advantage every week.

15.14 Bart Scott LB NYJ
Some more LB to cover bye weeks, which for weeks the heavy bye weeks is going to be an issue this year.

16.01 Peyton Hillis RB DEN
A flyer at RB, this is a pick that could be dropped by mid-season, or could be a bye-week fill-in. Best case is more time in the RBBC that Denver will most likely use.

17.14 Brady Quinn QB CLE
I need a 2nd QB, I think Quinn will win the job or play significantly at some point. Hopefully he can adequately fill in for Brees for 1 week.

18.01 Quintin Mikell DB PHI
A 2nd DB that should put up decent tackle numbers in the PHI system. Reports are that he will fill the Brian Dawkins, closer to the LoS roll.

13.06 Justin Tuck DL NYG

Had him last year and he served me well. Should put up good
sack numbers with plenty of tackles.

14.09 Lawrence Timmons LB PIT

Had tremendous production last year in a non-starting role.
Hopefully he builds on that and continues strong Steeler lb play.

15.06 Antoine Winfield DB MIN

Consistent tackle machine from a db with the occasional flashy
interception, etc to make it all worth while. Lost a week last year
because my opponent had him and he went nuts in a game.
Would rather lose this year with him on my roster.

16.09 Jake Delhomme QB CAR

I think I could do worse for a hopefully backup QB.

17.06 Quintin Demps DB PHI

Not overly familiar with him. Hope he helps the cause.

18.09 Larry Foote LB DET

Released by the steelers..think he will have good production in
Detroit.
