This is for everyone in RIFC AA, RIFC AAA #2, and the RIHC test league.

Please answer the following......

1. What has fantrax done wrong?
2. On the other hand, what have they done right?
3. What would you want to see improved for you to play there after this year?

Please, be as deatailed as you like.

1. Wrong - they didnt have the system ready on week 1 and there were some issues with just about every aspect. Most of these have been fixed, however waivers is still an issue and needs some work. I would like to be able to claim two players and drop the same player, and it should not drop your player if you don't get the player you claim.

2. Right - I like how team defense scoring is displayed so you can see pts given up by game. Fanball for example never did this. I like that they are connected to rotoworld for player updates, but there needs to be more support for IDP players - info and injury status is often weeks old for IDP's.

3. Fix waivers and claims and it will be a fine website going forward.

Give more detail on the illegal roster message. And also allow me to complete a transaction even if it would give me an illegal roster when I'm trying to add or drop a player.

The live scoring is this site's best asset.

The illegal roster frustrated me so much one week that I almost just left it illegal.

Let me answer #2 first, because it's much shorter than the rest.

a) It has excellent retroactive commissioner control powers, for example allowing changes to alter lineups retroactively. That's excellent, because in most games there are inevitably screwups either by the player, the commissioner, or the site, and it's important to be able to fix them easily. I gather that some sites don't allow commissioners to do retroactive lineup changes.

Likewise, manual adjustments to points scored are easy, and transparent. Fantrax screwed up the whole thing with Hafner who is listed both as a LB and a TE, listing him twice, making a lineup illegal when he was activated, etc. But that could be corrected simply by adding his points by commissioner manual adjustment (and, in my league's case, by the commish's making a bye-week player active and Hafner inactive so Fantrax would recognize the points, and live scoring would work.) All points adjustments are also visible in the w-b-w results under "Standings", so the player knows when the commish has been screwing around with the scoring.

Don't lock the games until they actually start. I just realized I wanted to make a change and I can't.

Typical Fantrax error this week, of the kind they assure us is all fixed: owner tries to drop illegally a Miami player on Saturday and pick up a player for Sunday. Fantrax allows the transaction. However it also realizes that the Miami player can't be dropped because his game was played on Thursday, so it leaves him on the roster, along with the picked up player, giving the team an illegal lineup.

I guess we should tell them that we have no playoffs setup despite the fact that I think the playoffs started or at least were supposed to start yesterday?

Would be nice to hear from Wolfer first to make sure he set the league up.

Its almost halftime of the 1pm games and fantrax live scoring hasn't updated for almost a quarter. Way to make the playoffs enjoyable.

Fantrax finally has their pretty brackets up -- unfortunately they got the bracket wrong. (The bracket should be set up so that the #1 and #2 teams can meet in the final, should it not?)

I think the #1 and #2 are correct, but aren't 3 and 4 in the wrong brackets?

Dan- Fantrax has been very responsive and diligent in fixing many of their problems- in fact for a beta system they have reacted quite well. The problem is that the RGIL's have been in existence for more than a decade and due to the quality and uniqueness of the competition they are the most important fantasy leagues for a number of people. RGIL is the league where we usually spend the most time, where we usually care the most about the results. It is not the type of league that should have been subjected to beta testing for a site that just wasn't ready.
Personnally the problems with Fantrax essentially ruined the RGIL season for me- the waiver process was so fraught with problems that I only made roster changes when absolutely necessary to field a complete team. Where I used to pore over free agents I rarely if ever hunted for them, and when I did it was a chore. I had enough trouble just trying to set my lineups as I still can never see last weeks fantasy stats for my bench players nor know when their bye weeks are coming up. All this is on top of the problems that already have been fixed.
I have no doubt that Fantrax could become a very good viable fantasy site with a couple more years of work. I could see participating in a low maintenance beta league or maybe putting our AA leagues there more as a punishment for falling out of the AAA category (LOL) than for a pleasant experience however absent the punative factor I can't see risking another AAA RGIL league to Fantrax until they prove they can run a league for a whole year without ruining the experience for the users.
i don't question the effort of the Fantrax staff- in fact I commend it. i think they just didn't realize how difficult it really is to originate a new fantasy site nor how important some fantasy leagues are to some of us. I think Fantraz should stick to lower maintenance, lower risk leagues during stage two of their beta testing next year.
