Some horrible news from probably my favorite band that I have mentioned on here several times before. I saw them live last night at sold out Starland Ballroom (simply amazing again on borrowed equipment) and they said that anyone who can donate anything and leaves a address will recieve their new album free and autographed by the entire band. Keep in mind these kids were just about to hit it big - but are still on a fairly small indy label (Victory Records) so they aren't rich pretty much living off whatever they split from shows... and a ska band with 8 members gets split more ways...

Pretty sure any musician here can feel their pain. Some of the guys mentioned that the instruments lost had great sentimental meaning and were priceless and that they lost all their footage too that they were using to put out a DVD.

it is with great sadness that we have to announce that, as we slept in our hotel rooms last night, we were robbed blind.

upon waking up this morning, we walked out into the hotel parking lot to find our van had been broken into and our trailer taken. the pieces of human shit behind this broke the lock off of the driver's side door, entered our tour van, and picked it clean of all of our possessions. they then managed to jimmy the vehicle into neutral, push it forward about twenty feet, break the lock off of our hitch and attach our trailer to their vehicle. then they drove away. all of this happened in the hotel parking lot, just yards away from where we slept.

besides the priceless personal possessions we lost from the van, everything that enables us to be a band was contained in that trailer. all of our horns, guitars, drums, amps, microphones, rack gear, mic stands, every last bit of merchandise and cds, every sticker, patch , button with our logo on them, our banner, EVERYTHING. in all, we were robbed of approximately 80 thousand dollars worth of gear, merch and personal possessions.

words cannot begin to expain what we are feeling now. anyone that's in a touring band knows that being on tour is like bringing your entire life with you in a van, and we were literally robbed of all that, everything that enables us to make music, the instruments we worked our asses off to purchase so we could dedicate our lives to this.

right now we're reeling, yet trying to put the pieces back together. we've unfortunately had to cancel the next four shows (jacksonville, atlanta, norfolk and morgantown) as we head back home to cobble together some equipment for the last 3 shows of this tour (washington dc, our beloved homecoming show at the starland ballroom, and long island). we're deeply sorry for having to cancel the shows, but there's no way around it.

right now, we're each practically broke due to this and missing costly equipment that we need to continue being in this band. after the europe tour most of us will have to get real jobs to try to break even with the debt all this has incurred us.

obviously, if you want to help us out, feel free. if you can take a road trip to one of the last three shows, please do. any ticket sales and merch purchases will help us get back on our feet. we've been busting our asses on the road for months with no tour support from anyone and we've just been getting by, making rent and living our lives.

thank you all for your past and continueed support. hopefully we will see you in the future, under happier circumstances.

10/6/05 UPDATE:
hello all.
first and foremost we have to express our infinite love, appreciation and gratitude to our fans, family and friends. through your messages and thoughts we know we are lucky beyond words, despite the recent difficulties. we've been bombarded by your kind words over the last few days and you're the reason we're keeping on.

we've been spending the last few days talking to police (or trying to talk to police...), tracking down serial numbers, and in general looking for ways to get the band back on track. we're going to be piecing together some equipment, and despite nearly cancelling the european tour, we've decided to forge ahead and deal with our towering debts due to the robbery afterwards.

initially we were against accepting donations, and were just encouraging fans to come to shows and buy merch at the last 3 dates, but we've gotten hundreds of emails from fans who can't make it out to the shows and want to help us out. for this reason our soundguy knowles has set up a paypal donation button that you can use to help us out, if that's your intention. with your donation, PLEASE include your full name and mailing address. if and when we rise to our feet again, we will make sure to send each and every one of you something special.

for those of you who wish to help out, but don't use paypal, you can snail mail whatever you like to cheer us up to:

every day we think of something else that was in the van or trailer that we hadn't thought of yet and words can't explain how much that sucks. at this point what stings the most is the lost photos and countless hours of tour video footage that was stolen and probably ditched somewhere. we had so many special projects lined up that have been taken away from us.

ok, back to the grind. we have much to do and progress is slow. see you at the shows and keep posted for more robbery fiasco related updates. thanks again guys

11/10/05 UPDATE:

Ok, now this is just getting ridiculous and somewhat annoying. last night, while we slept in the paris show promoter's apartment, our vehicle was broken into and robbed. again. since there are so many of us we have two vehicles on this tour, a tour van and a tiny little rental car. our little rental car was broken into and cleaned out of our possesions. this time we lost substantially less: about $4,000 worth of equipment (our soundguy uses the car for his rig). we lost the one expensive piece of equipment that wasn't stolen in last month's debacle, a 24 track hard drive recorder we've been using to document our live shows. great. despite all the "i told you so's" we've been getting from family regarding even going to paris, relax, it had nothing to do with the riots, it was a random robbery. anyway, we have another police report to add to our new collection, this one in french. yippee.

regarding the big robbery, we'd like to once again thank you all for your help. we've been reminded how lucky we are and we will not let you down. we're already planning for the future and it's looking good, despite the setbacks. first off, we'll be making up most of the shows we missed after the robbery and then some. and: we're playing rutgers again! almost on the two year anniversary of our first show ever, we're playing on the same exact stage! also check out the poughkeepsie show: that's one hell of a lineup, we know. anyway, that'll definately and finally be the last show before a nice long break to continue putting things back together and work on our next record. also coming up: a new site and some more announcements. and i'm sure there are a million things i've forgotten, but keep checking back, we'll sort it all out.
