So I just signed up for CraigsList cause I am trying to sell my bedroom set.

I got this response and was curious if this possibly was junk mail... or perhaps its just some guy that scoops up everyones junk and the re-sells it.

The response... Hello i really appreciate your response to my earlier mail.like i
said i

I would ask first for HIS info and not give any of yours. And I would insist on a cashier's check not a personal check

craigslist scams

My guess is that he will send a fake money order?

My guess is that until you reply, the other shoe won't drop.

in the scam discussed on another thread, he sends an amount for more than the necessary cost.

you write him a check for the balance.

lo and behold, the check he wrote bounces.

it's one of the many Nigerian 411 type of scams.

That might be one way, I suppose, though the email above doesn't state anything like that.

The way it is written however definitely sets off alarm bells.

Just had a Nigerian buy my ebay item. Tried to send me a fake PayPal email. If they are going to try to rip me off, at least get someone to proofread your scams.

Dear XXXX,

Member XXXX have paid $210 to you're account.

I've got a car for sale (online). I've gotten 3 e-mails from the same e-mail address (but he changes his name and story), but the premise is the same:

1. send pics, ask questions to feign interstest.
2. promise a quick sale (on behalf of a client)
3. the buyer lives in Canada or Germany.

Now... I know this is a scam, but I don't have the time to think through what it is. I'm just posting in case anyone else runs into thsi crap.

Greetings ME,

Thanks for the email. Please I have this client who is very much interested in buying your vehicle. He happened to budget for a car last time and unfortunately it was sold. I have discussed with him and he has agreed that he will be willing to have the vehicle shipped to Canada upon reaching an agreement with you.

Please Sir,
I have Some Questions to Ask:

1) Is the engine in perfect condition?

2) How often do you service the car?

3) How many miles on the car now?

4) Are you the owners?

5) If yes, for how long did you use car?

6) Has the car been involve in an auto accident?

7) Any mechanical problems with the car?

8) Why are you selling the car?

Finally At what price are you willing to sell this Vehicle to Us and also send recent (interior and engine)if available……

I look forward to hear you as soon as possible regarding the above questions.
