Just to give you guys a heads up as we enter the Christmas season, I wanted to let you know about a confusing policy Best Buy has about their shipping.

I placed an order on Sunday for some speakers and I paid the extra $$$ to have them shipped Next Day. On Monday morning I received an email from Best Buy that my order shipped and I was provided with a tracking number.

The order didn't arrive on Tuesday like I paid for so I called. I spoke with "Henry", probably in India, and he told me Best Buy's shipping policy.

Their "Next Day" shipping is really a two day extravaganzaa. It's not a true Next Day service like I am accumstomed to. "Henry" said that it's one day to process the order and one day to ship it.

I told him I already had an email stating the product shipped and that I had a tracking number. This fell on deaf ears.

He also said that it could have been a credit card approval issue. I pointed out that my card was approved, per their website and an order confirmation email, on Sunday. So that excuse didn't hold water for me either.

Point is, if you're ordering for a loved one at BestBuy.com don't wait until the last minute and expect their "Next Day" to actually mean what they advertise.

Call your credit card company and contest the charge. It's the principle involved.

I used my Best Buy card. :(

I did get a positive resolution to the problem. After receiving the merchandise the other day, I called and threatened to return the order because they didn't fulfill their end of the bargain.

They credited my account for the shipping and sent me a $10 off e-coupon at BestBuy.com.

So in my mind the issue is over, but I'm never paying for their alleged "Next Day" service again. I'll probably buy a movie with the coupon and then make my next major purchase at Circuit City and see how that goes.

What really infuriated me was "Henry" in India. I spelled my last name, which is NOT hard to spell if you know English, about 12 times and repeated my email address about three times. This only compounded my anger.

I heard about a Gateway commercial where they advertised their "North American only customer service". My next big purchase might very well be a laptop. Maybe I'll go that route and support Gateway instead of having to be put thru the ringer by "Henry".
