I am at my wits end with trying to find out the name of a song and I need your help. I believe this song came out in the early to mid 90's. It could be classified as a rock song, probably not alternative rock. I don't know the band name.
I had this song on tape, but when I moved out of my parents years ago it didn't survive the move.
Here are the song lyrics that I remember:
Run away, that’s all he’s ever done Since he was a young boy, he’s been living on the run His mama passed away, his daddy drinks much
Chorus:
Slipping into darkness, slippin’ Johnny’s got a gun He’s got nowhere to run Slipping into darkness Nowhere left to hide from what he’s feeling deep inside

I'm usually pretty good at this but all i came up with was Slipping Into Darkness by WAR and thats not right cause the lyrics aren't nearly that developed.

I've looked for a half hour. Sorry man, I can't find it anywhere.
Seems that you are not alone in trying to find this out (unless this is also a post by you). This link takes you to a thread about the song. The best guess leads to a band called Wanda Chrome and the Leather Pahroahs (???).

No that's not me on that website. At least I'm not alone in this little adventure.
If you have Itunes on your comp, go to the store and do a search for the band Wanda Chrome. Their most popular song is Johnny's Got a Gun. You can double-click and listen to 30 seconds of it.
They don't have that song on there, but maybe you can recognize if it's the band. A slight Ramones vibe.

I checked out the Wanda Chrome song and that isn't it. Thanks for the suggestion though. The tone of this song really reminds me of those late 80s / early 90s hair bands like Slaughter or Skid Row with good vocals and some nice guitar work.

Funny you should say that because I had to go listen to 18 and Life by Skid Row after first reading this thread. It was the first song that popped into my head. Knowing the sound, I will look through my itunes and see what I have. Do you know for sure that it isn't a band like Skid Row or Slaughter?
LOL, I thought it was 18 and Life at first as well, but figured that would have been easy enough to find with a search. This has been an interesting puzzle for me on an otherwise boring day. I'll keep looking for you.

I actually saw Sebastian Bach from SkidRow a few years ago on stage as Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar...

I'm fairly sure it's not Skid Row or Slaughter, but the band style is similar. I did look at the iTunes store thru Skid Row and Slaughter and I didn't see anything.

Shooting Star by Bad Company was very close... this Dark Lyrics website is a pretty good utility, just putting in some keywords and it keeps getting really close.
for whatever reason, this thread reminds me of the song "Fine, Fine Day" by Tony Carey, one of my favorite songs from the 80s that it seems no one else remembers...

When I saw Tree had responded to the thread, I figured he showed up and solved the mystery. I have to admit that I'm a little disappointed he didn't know. Well, I have good news and bad news.
The bad news is that I couldn't find the song. The good news is that I cleaned up my music list on my itunes and deleted a bunch of songs I no longer listen to. =)

i'm going to keep looking, but this one is a doozy. i'm thinking you may have the lyrics remembered incorrectly, which is causing part of the problem...one difference in a word makes the search all that much harder (i.e. what if the original lyrics say "mother" instead of "mama"?)

Good point Tree. The song I'm looking for does line up with the link that Uptown provided in #3.

Anyone know how to get in touch with Matt Pinfield? I bet he would know. I'm serious.
Can't find anything close anywhere. You have the tune, you have the lyrics. My suggestion is you record the song and see who sues you.

I laughed when I read the last couple posts, but then it made me think. Why not call the local radio station and sing it to them and see if they know. Maybe they can put you on the air and people can call in with the answer.

I wasn't kidding about Pinfield either, if someone can track that guy down - either on a radio show or whatever, I guarantee he'd know the answer.

i've got the folks at my office working on it. considering we're in the music & video biz, i'm feeling like if the lyrics are even remotely accurate, we'll find it...
i mean, some guy in my office was able to identify the following band...
that being said, two of the people i sent the lyrics to are 80s metal "Experts", and one is stumped.

I Googled some of the fragments above and this thread was the #5 result.
for sheer theatrical bare-chested metal silliness, i reccomend Wild Fire...

HAHAHAHAAA - they are wearing those same clothes in the wildfire video. can't wait to show this video around.
btw, they really should have had some women on the set. the guitarist seems to be a little confused there at the end. :D

OK. I have another one for you guys. This one is an instrumental I believe. It starts right after Pacino is done talking around the 1 minute mark.

Nice, Boxman.
I don't know that actual song, but I'd love a compilation like that. I think it is some NFL Films music. Seems similar to "The Raiders" theme which I used to have as a ring tone.
That's all I got.

I've been trying to find the song Blow Me Away by Breaking Benjamin. I found online that it's on the Halo 2 soundtrack but when I lookup that soundtrack on BestBuy.com it isn't part of the track list.
It isn't available on iTunes. What album is it on?
The link in post 3 found it about 3 months ago. I listened to the link they posted on there and it's not a bad song.

1992? Wow. I thought hair bands and drum machines were banned by the 90s.

That's cool that you finally figured it out and got some closure. The song sounds familiar now that I hear it, but so do a lot of songs from that genre.

This one is probably easy for this group. What is this song in the background? The first one, not the one in the last two seconds.
