Man katie, I've been meaning to watch it, and I always forget. On high-def, with those unique, covert camera angles, it must be awesome. My kids who love animals would love those episodes, too. I have a DVR, just cannot remember. I need to do some advance planning.
thx for the reminder, - walk

you're welcome! Be aware that there are some pretty brutal images of animal/animal take-downs. Not sure how old your kids are.

9 & 6, and they have seen much of wild kingdom and other type stuff, so I think (think) it'd be okay, but I appreciate the tip-off.

Tough decision last night. Sherman's march through Gerogia on the History Chanel or Planet Earth. I went with Planet Earth as I have yet to miss an episode.
I need to order the series on DVD, the images are breathtaking!

The series is outstanding. I commend the BBC for putting up the massive funds needed to pull off such a momentous project.
What I liked on the Ocean episode were the shots of a colony of these strange "worms" that lived off a volcanic vent. The magma shifted under the crust and the vent vanished. They came back nine months later to show how everything had died and all that was left was mineral deposits in the shape of their carcasses.
The DVD's are coming out tomorrow at Netflix.

Thanks for that info, Zen. I don't get Discovery Channel, but I've read a bit about the series and it does sound outstanding.
I've got a boxed set of every National Geographic special, and many many other DVDs of this type. Can't wait to see the thing.
The web site is pretty cool.

I did watch a bit of this yesterday. It is truly great and unique video. The caves one was really weird! I am a little bummed that where I live, TWC-NYC is showing it on the science channel (at least last night), and that is standard def. This shows needs to be on Discovery-HD, which is high-def and 10x better and more appropriate. Anyone know anything about Planet Earth HD programming in NYC?
thx, walk
