God, I can't believe Baruch won. I hated the way he played. I guess it goes to show you that anyone can win a bracelet.

Wow.......that was not what the rest of the table wanted to see! Negreanu with chips to splash around!! I'd love to hear bmd's recollection of this hand and the response from the table.....to get Negreanu out first would have been huge.

Negreanu would've had 150k or so even if he lost. Personally, I was rooting for Daniel to win as I would be guaranteed an extra pay spot. Also, I would've rather made it to the final 2 with Negreanu as it would've been a challenge and a great story.

Reading the history log, I don't think I read that Baruch ever raised. He held top pair alot of times and played it very passively, especially for heads up.

Per this webpage, it is not an ESPN event.

Nah, it wasn't an ESPN event. It actually wasn't even going to be broadcast on bluff but Negreanu made the final table so instead of the $2500 event being internet broadcast they had our event broadcasted. This sucked for me as I had a bunch of buddies out here that wanted to sweat me live but we had to be sequestered in a make shift tent inside the Rio. It was really weird as we could not go to the bathroom without being escorted by a securtiy guard. Even though the broadcast was delayed an hour they were afraid we'd have someone relaying us info about previous hands.

Hellmuth at another final table today...3K NL. He comes in as the small stack 213K...with the blinds of 8K/16K 2K ante he is going to need to catch some cards early to have any shot.

$50K horse event underway, Day 2 completed. This field is amazing, most star-studded field of the year. If I had to bet on someone, I'd probably say Ivey, that's probably the first time in months or years he actually looks really motivated to win an event. Cunningham looking good too for the moment. Hopefully the final table casting is as great as last year. Would have loved to see Benyamine and Antonius make it though.

This is a SICK hand from the HORSE tourney that knocked Kotter out on the final table bubble. They were playing 7 card stud, 8 or better at the time.

Gabe Kaplan Eliminated in 9th Place ($131,424)
Gabe Kaplan was just eliminated in the final hand of the night. Kaplan was all in on 4th street and there was a side pot between Freddy Deeb and Thor Hansen. When all the cards were dealt, here's what the players showed: Deeb: (6)-(6)-5-6-K-J-(6) Hansen: (3)-(3)-3-J-Q-4-(4) Kaplan: (X)-(X)-J-7-T-Q-(X) Deeb and Hansen had betting action on every street including 3 raises on the river that ended with Hansen calling Deeb's reraise and leaving himself with 35K. When Hansen called, Deeb immediately said "Four Sixes." Kaplan mucked and Hansen stood in disbelief. Hansen is left with 35K chips for tomorrow's final table and Gabe Kaplan was eliminated in 9th place earning himself $131,424 for his strong finish.

Deeb river's quads with no pair showing and Hansen rivers a boat also with no pair showing. I'm sure the betting action indicated big hands prior to the river, but Deeb picked up a ton of extra chips on the river with that combination of cards hitting. No idea what Kaplan had.

I can't wait to see this hand on TV. They have been taping multiple days of this event and will show more than just the final table on ESPN this year.

Here's another SICK hand from the HORSE tourney.

A Cold Deck For David Singer

(Omaha 8) David Singer and Steve Wolff went heads up to a flop of {K-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}. Singer bet, Wolff raised, Singer re-raised and Wolff capped it. The turn brought the {K-Clubs}. Again Singer bet, Wolff raised, Singer re-raised and Wolff called all-in. The players turned up

Wolff: {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{10-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Singer: {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Spades}{2-Clubs}

Both players had 4 of a kind but Wolff's quad kings had Singer drawing dead. With a day and a half left to play, it may still be safe to say that this was the "Hand of the Tournament."

I watched the 50K HORSE final table live from around 11pm until 330am...a lot of back and forth action...it looked like Bruno had it wrapped up early around midnight...at that point Deeb was down to ~1.5 mil and Hanson ~2.0 mil to Brunos 11.5 mil...but by the next break Hanson was at nearly 6 million and Deeb was also recovering. Just a lot of great action...back and forth. Was very cool to see it all go down live...I sat next to Marcel Luske for around 30 minutes...talking to him...he was playing at a final table the next day.

As for my results in Event 47...knocked out in round 5...I will post a blog a little later. Kind of a sick bad beat...I win that hand I would have had a very healthy stack.

Well back to the Rio for a little live action.

For any poker fan I highly recommend a trip here during the series...

WSOP Blog: Event 47 2K NL Holdem

I registered Thursday morning…Table 1 seat 3…doh! 13…well hopefully it is lucky for me. I am not superstitious anyway. On to Friday and the tournament…my not superstitious butt paid $13 for a taxi cab to the Rio…and then spent $13 for breakfast…threw $13 in a slot machine for good measure…might as well flood the system. I got to my table and had a professional player in seat 8, Evelyn Ng, beautiful tall Asian girl who has gotten a lot of TV time in the past couple years but has not won any major tournaments. The rest of the table is full of Joe Nobodies. We start the tournament with 4000 chips with blinds of 25-50. There are 2054 players entered in the tournament…first place pays ~700K.

The first two levels I am pretty much card dead…see a couple small pocket pairs…a couple weak aces…pick up a few small pots lose some chips trying to steal some pots but never hit much. Evelyn busted out around 1.5 hours in when she went all in with a pocket pair and faced AJ…a J on the flop and she was sent packing. At the first break I am sitting with 2000 in chips. Not feeling real good about my chips and now I am in survival mode and need to wait for a hand to go all-in with.

The third level starts with the blinds of 100-200. A few hands in I pick up AK under the gun…I limp in for 200 and a player raises behind me 700, there is one caller and the action is to me…I push in my remaining 1800 and cross my fingers. Both players call…yuk. The flop comes A-Q-6 and both players check…that is either good or very bad…turn is a 3…both players check again…that looks promising…river is another brick and again check check. I flip over my AK and scoop a 6000 chip pot and I am back in the action. Around 30 minutes later I am in the big blind with pocket 7s, a few limpers…so I just limp in with my hand. Flop is 7-4-2…Bingo! The player in the small blind is short on chips and goes all-in for ~1800…I hollywood for awhile taking my time to hopefully get a player behind me to call…I make the call and everyone else at the table folds…the small blind shows Q rag and he is basically drawing dead…my set of 7s hold up and I scoop another nice pot and end up making it to the next break with around 8000 in chips. I am probably a little above average in chips and feeling a lot better coming out of this break…I have enough chips to play a little.

The fifth level starts blinds 150-300 with a 25 ante…around 15 minutes in I wake up with two red aces in the dealer position. Under the gun had limped for 300 and everyone folded to me…I raise to 1200 and the player calls my bet. The flop comes out K-9-4 with two clubs…this is a good flop for my hand…I hope the other player has a king. Player checks…I bet out 1200 and the player makes the call. Turn is a nothing card…player checks again and I bet out 2500…he thinks for awhile and then goes all-in…I only have around 2500 chips remaining and I feel my hand is good so I make the call…he flips over the A-K of clubs and I show my beautiful red aces…player groans…table ahhhhs…and I am in good shape. 33 of the remaining 44 cards in the deck make me a winner…I have to avoid a club and the two remaining kings. Win this pot and I am sitting with ~16000 in chips and feel like I can really start playing…but poker tournaments are a mine field and the dealer delivers the bad news on the river…the 10 of clubs and I am sent packing as my aces are beaten by his ace high flush. That is how it goes in big tournaments…you have to be lucky not to get unlucky.

I'm out of the main event.

At 300/600, I limp utg with red 4's with about a 42k stack behind me. Guy with about 10k limps directly behind me. Aggro tard who's already been caught bluffing twice raises to 3200 from CO(we have even stacks). Both blinds fold, I call, and shorty folds. Flop comes 246 all spades. I lead into him for 5k, he raises to 15k, I shove, he thinks and says he's committed and calls with AsQx. Turn 7 clubs, river 8 of spades. I'm left with 75 chips after the final count and go out on the ensuing hand.

Sucks as I was playing great and would've had more than twice the average stack if I don't get sucked out on. I guess it's better to go out on a bad beat than misplaying a hand. Ahh well, there's always next year.

Day 2a finished, and there's not so many "name pros" left anymore. Among those who played today, Kenny Tran, Kirk Morrison, Jared Hamby and Cliff Josephy would be my bets to make it far. For those who're playing tomorrow, guys who start with a nice stack include Ted Forrest, Darrell Dicken, Sorel Mizzi and JC Tran. I'd really like to see a seasoned pro or a internet hotshot win it this year.

Main Event will get to the final table tonight...18 players remain...big names left:
Scotty Nguyen
Lee Watkinson (Lee qualified for the Main Event on Full Tilt Poker and stands to rake in a $10 million bonus should he win it all.)

Final Table is PPV tomorrow...still debating whether I will get it...last year was up all night watching...I think if Scotty makes the final table I will watch...he will keep things entertaining. Hopefully it is not Phil Gordon commentating.

Mainly just a lurker on the site but have been a visitor to the site for about 4 or 5 years now. Ryan Elson who finished 24th in the ME plays in my home game (and series i run)and probably has played 50 tournies at my house with one cash (loose passive player).I'm happy for him but do you ever think what if I had his seat with the cards he got? congrats anyways to $333,000.

Scotty peaked at $15.5mil in chips and was in third place. Busted in 11th after losing 2 big pots (43 to TT on an KJ4Kx board) and AQ vs 55 on a Q5xKx board (allin on the turn). It would have been great to watch him talk it up at the final table.

Is anyone getting the $19.99 PPV for tomorrow?

Final table PPV tuesday...did not realize there was a day off between...

Seat 1: Raymond Rahme – $16,320,000
Seat 2: Alex Kravchenko – $6,570,000
Seat 3: Lee Childs - -$13,240,000
Seat 4: Jerry Yang – $8,450,000
Seat 5: Lee Watkinson – $9,925,000
Seat 6: Tuan Lam – $21,315,000
Seat 7: Philip Hilm – $22,070,000
Seat 8: Jon Kalmar – $20,320,000
Seat 9: Hevad "RainKhan" Khan – $9,205,000

Should be an interesting final table...no huge chip leader...no one severely shortstacked...should make for some good play. Blinds currently at 100K-200k with 30K ante.

I think Feldman's assessment of the final tablers is dead on ( link ). I really expect Lam and Hilm to be responsible for most of the action, and if one of them somehow knocks out the other, he'd then have a huge chip lead. Lam is BABYHAN on Stars, biggest winner on the site in Limit, and Hilm is hotntot on FullTilt, a 10/20 headsup player (TRS : ever played him?).

WOW! Yang makes a huge call on Lee Watkinson...Yang raised 1M from SB...Lee went all-in for 8.715M...Yang thought for like 5 minutes...and called with A9...Lee shows A7!

And Watkinson eliminated in 8th place...really surprised Watkinson got this far out of line...Yang has shown to be a little crazy already...can't make moves against him...sick call with A9.

Two of the favorites already eliminated.

Yang has won like 10 of 20 of the hands played.

Yang with like 55 million.

Yang eliminates another...Lee Childs gone...Yang raises all-in with J8...Lee Childs calls with KJ...an 8 on the turn and it was done.

Yang with ~65 million...half the chips in play...small stacks are happily moving up the money ladder.

I just hate the all-in in the dark...it does not accomplish anything...either push preflop or see the flop and make the bet.

I am rooting for one of the two small stacks to come back and win...I think by far they are the superior players and would be better for the game.

I've been very disappointed by the early exits and questionable moves, I'd have loved to see Hilm and Watkinson especially play short-handed. Right now I'm rooting for a Lam-Kravchenko headsup, should be good, if it gets to Yang and Rahme this will be awful.

Yang takes out Lam w/runner runner straight. He held 88 vs Lam's AQd all-in preflop. Q high flop looked to secure the hand and move Lam to $40mil. It wasn't to be and the (Phil Gordon's words) "worst player at the table" wins the main even.

I bought the PPV and can't wait for the ESPN broadcast to see what they were holding on some of the hands. That was $20 well spent.

I was watching the Pot Limit Hold 'Em final table last night on ESPN, and lo' and behold, I see one of my high school buddies at the final table (Billy Hill). I had seen him the Fox Sports channels previously at one of those random poker games, but it was pretty neat to see him on ESPN. Ended up in 4th; not too shabby.

I don't know that the worst player won...the style he chose to play was difficult to play against once he had the huge chip lead...you basically had to wait for cards and then pray they held up because he was calling a majority of the time he was reraised. You could not reraise with nothing to try and resteal. The blinds and antes were significant enough that even when he lost an all-in or two he got pumped right back up by scooping all of the small pots.

Kravchenko was the big elimination...if he wins his final race he is almost in a dead heat for the chip lead and it is a different game.

Watching the WSOP last night and again Negraneau astounds me. Calling out hands...put a guy on AA and told the guy and it basically froze the player into checking the hand down. Called another guy on K9. Plus a few other hands. Missed on the hand that knocked him out of the tourney though.

Another thing I learned last night...I hate Hevad Khan...what is the point of all the screaming...dancing around...I guess you get TV time.

I watched the "Player's Championship" H.O.R.S.E. tourney and all I have to say is... boring. Razz and these other are simply inferior games to No Limit. Lots and lots of small bets, calls, and turn them over to see who won.

No Limit is chess, the rest are Sorry and Chutes and Ladders.
