careful MBJ...If you ever visit MN, that comment might get you busted. (at least, in the mens room it could.)

She's going to Appalachian State, which is about an hour from where I live. I've had a blast asking the alumni around here about falling admission standards. :)

So many better answers: Americans view Geography as a very plain, boring, and dull subject, just like Miss teen South Dakota.

For those unable/unwilling to watch the video with sound:
"I, personally, believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uh, some people out there in our nation don't have maps. And, uh, I believe that our education like, such as, in South Africa and, uh, the Iraq, everywhere, like, such as. And, I believe that they should... our education over here, in the U.S., should help the U.S., or, or, should help South Africa. It should help the Iraq and the Asian countries so we will be able to build up our future... for our children."

So when mbj posted in the G24 draft thread that he was held up making his pick because he was moving into his dorm and listening to CD's--we all thought he was making light of thk's excuses every year. When in reality he really was--or at least stalking this girl who was doing that. ;)

So what would a better answer have been?"Recent studies have estimated that approximately 2% of the population is legally blind. The other 18% are probably just morons."

She could have told the truth...
"I dont have to be smart. I'm young, thin, blonde and cute."

it's hard for me to believe that 20% of americans can't find the U.S. on a map, unless they're including the blind, infants, mentally handicapped, etc.

True story.
My step-dad, while living in South Carolina, told his secretary he was planning a vacation to drive to Alaska.
She asked: "They built a bridge?"
It turns out she could have located Alaska on a map - it's right there off the coast of California, a short boat ride from Hawaii.
South Carolina's educational system is (or was) 49th in the nation, just in front of Mississippi.
