So I got an Olevia 32" HDTV. The tv works fine. I put it on the HD channel to watch the football game and put it on the Component source but there is no sound. The picture is very clear but I cant hear anything. Does anyone know what Im doing wrong or how to get the sound to work? Let me know, im pretty stupid when it comes to this stuff.

Do you also have a home theater system?
Sounds like you need to take the red and white wires from a separate RCA cable and go from audio out in your box to audio in in the TV.

I didn't have an HDMI input into my home theater - so the workaround I figured out was red/white from my digital cable box directly into the home theater.

I believe a component source requires the 3 cables. Usually coded Red, Blue, Green.
HDMI gives a nice crisp sound and picture. It's very good.
I'm finding that some HD channels are better than others. Here in Canada the TSNHD (sports channel) has far superior HD than the NBCHD channels.
As far as overkill goes, I even have the S-Video cable hooked up.
