Hey guys, Soon I'm going to be driving back east again, and I figured I'd take a different way back. Have any of you been to any of the National Parks in Utah? Any recommendations? I think I might be able to hit them all but it's hard to tell, it looks like there are a ton of entrances to each (especially Glen Canyon, Capitol Reef, and Canyonlands) and I'm not familiar with which areas are the best. It looks like I'm going to have three days to spend in Utah, so if anyone had any ideas on how I should split everything up it would be greatly appreciated. Also these days are going to be in the first week of November, so that might affect what roads and areas are going to be open I guess. I should also add that two of the nights my company isn't covering the hotel, so I'm planning on trying to find a really cheap place near the parks (or maybe even buying a cheap tent and camping there). I checked Frommers and they have some cheap motels / really cheap hostels listed.
Just based on how everything's laid out, it looks like the logical plan would be to skip Glen Canyon and do: Day 1 - Zion, Bryce Day 2 - Capitol Reef Day 3 - Canyonlands and Arches, stay over in Moab
Is that too little time in each though?
What do you guys think? |

Both Zion and Bryce Canyon are gorgeous and have tons of hiking. I'm unfamiliar with Capital Reef, but have heard so much about the killer mountain biking in and around Moab. You have yourself quite a quandary, Senator.
I may be wrong, but maybe Canyonlands is best viewed through a car window, Wake up day three in Moab and rent a mountain bike, spending the day on trails. Or spend the day hiking Arches.
Unless Capital Reef is ultra-spectacular, maybe do one day of Zion and one day of Bryce.

By the way, I have only been to these places in the summer, I have no idea what their elevations are or snow conditions in November. I would be surprised if there was snow in Zion or Bryce.

I'd probably just skip Zion if you are going in November. That park's main attractions, Narrows and Angel's Landing, are inaccessible in the winter.
