I am looking for a good universal remote. One that can handle DVR functions and your basic TV, DVD, Home Theater etc.
This Logitech 880 seems to be a popular choice and is the one I am leaning towards. I found a refurbished one for under 100 bucks.
Anyone got any other reccomendations?

And the main thing I was looking for was an intelligent remote - i.e. I can tell it that when I'm watching TV, flip the channels on the cable box, but the volume on the home theater.

Thats what drew me to the above, but some of the reviews reported some problems with it. Not sure how much stock I should put into that though.

I have a Logitech Harmony 550 that I have been very happy with. It seemed to give me enough extra buttons to control evrything I wanted how I wanted. I use a stereo surround sound and can control the volume on it watching both TV and DVD. It takes a long time to initially set up, but once you're down it's pretty nice. It's very easy to switch between my Dish Network and watching a DVD. I got one for my my parents who could never move from TV to DVD and even they could figure out how to do it after I programmed the remote for them.

I wound up getting that one linked about - got it refurbished and the thing is absolutely amazing!

I am down from 7 freaking remotes all into 1 and there isn't a single button that it doesn't understand or I am missing. I even set up my extra tv's in the kitchen and on the porch just in case I wander in there with remote or I can't find the other one.

It only took me about 30 minutes to get it all set up. Instead of trying all the stupid codes like normal remotes, you just put the model # of your TV or CD player or whatever on the website and it does all the work for you. It also has a built in help right on the remote where if something doesn't work right it asks you questions to fix it - and then learns what was wrong for the future.

So now, for example... I sit down and hit "Watch TV" and it turns on the cable box, the tv to the right input and the home theater also the right input. Channel Up/Down is on the cable box, Volume is on the home theater, and all the DVR buttons work perfectly. One On/Off click shuts everything down too at the end of the night.

Also - no batteries... comes with a charger so once a week or so I will just let it charge up overnight.

Yeah, GO, I also have an 880 - it's awesome. I programmed the extra buttons for the watch TV, and Play game functions to switch the audio/video. so that I can listen to one thing (TV, stereo) while I watch another (videogame, tv).

Last week my remote freaked out as I had let it run completely out of charge, but I was able to get it setup again after some quick searching on the web. I actually had to take the battery out and hook it up to the computer and re-setup.
