Translating fairy tales / nursery rhymes.
This activity will give you practive with synonyms and recalling familiar fairy tails.
I will give you a newpaper headline for a familiar fairy tale / nursery rhymes that has been reworded with synonyms. Your challenge is to figure out the tales.
We have all figured out but #6 and #8. Will post other anwser after you guess a bit.
Exmaple 1. Rodent Terrified by Time Piece. (Hickory Dickory Dock)
2. Arachnid Climbs Downspout
3. Fleece-Bearing Mammals Lost
4. Dormant Shepherd Called Musical Performance
5. Yule Pastry Contains Smooth-Skinned Fruit
6. Man's Request for baked goods denied
7. Young Ovine Attends Learning Institution
8. Females Grieve after Approached by Amorous Suitor
9. Canine Perishes from Malnutrition
10. Bovine Leaps Over Heavenly Body
11. Husband and Wife on Unique Diet

Just had another parent call. Wondering about #8. It is fun going threw old books and reading with the kids and guessing. Funny how after reading them they stick in your head for a while. This is for 4th grade class, but my 6th grader is having a blast with it.
