Trying to figure out a gift for our boss. About 10 people chipping in, a budget around $100 or so. He collects wine, likes a good scotch, plays golf, Pittsburgh sports teams, likes good music (Zeppelin tickets?! out of the budget :) ... those were the main things we were going with here.
Leaning towards something like a cheese/cracker gift basket with some kind of good wine or scotch. Any suggestions? Any scotch drinkers out there? I'm thinking that might be easier to pick out 1 bottle than the wine where there are so many choices.
Also trying to figure out what is up with this "no shipping alcohol to Jersey" thing thats going on... not everybody seems willing to send stuff here. |

How bout a gift certificate to his favorite golf course or perhaps a great course that he's never played.

1. Gift certificate to Dick's Sporting Goods, or to his favorite Beer Distributor.
2. A donation in his name to the Human Fund.

Several cool "of-the-month-club" gifts here
Perhaps a mug? (bottom left)

Great One...
If he likes wine, I HIGHLY recommend a nice bottle of Amarone. Its an Italian Red, very nice taste, and he may not have tried it before.

All good suggestions, I was actually looking into the golf course thing for my parents, they love traveling to obscure places to play random and unique courses...
Barilko - I'll look into that wine. Is that a wine in your average liquor store?

GO, Johnnie Walker Gold if you can find it should be close to your $100. I prefer the Blue Label, but it would run you about $175 or so.
My previous boss was easy as a rum drinker.
The scotch idea is a good one though.

Yeah Great One...Check the Italian Red section. If you can't find it, just ask. He will love it. (If he is a red wine drinker).
In Canada the cheapest bottle is $28. A good one would run about $45-50. A great one $75. I recommend the medium range. In the US, without the government taking as big a share, it will be considerably cheaper.

I'm sold on the wine Barilko is mentioning AND a good (not great) bottle of scotch. The JW Gold sounds awesome, but it would be the only thing... but my friend said Dewars 12-year is reasonably priced and very good.
I can get both of those, and probably a mix of cheese/crackers/pepperoni - throw it all in a basket for around $100.
Thanks for all the ideas!

You can give your donation to the human fund and still keep the price the same.

Before I went with the Dewars 12 year old, I would go with the Johnnie Walker Black then. That would fit your price range to still get the wine and the mix.
