I have Madden 2005. It took some effort to get it to work with my Video Card but now it runs smoothly. Running the ball is tough, but the defensive adjustments are fun.

I enjoy the franchise mode and it is kind of neat to get player thoughts on your team, although the get repetative fairly quickly.

Just wondering if anyone has any more responses about if these games are worth buying or not.

I dont know too much about the computer versions.

Last year i played NBA Live 2004 on the compute rand the "freestyle" moves did not work on the keyboard so that was quite disappointing.

I am frustrated by a few things in NBA Live - how difficult it is to trade in dynasty mode (you have to wait several days for acceptance/denial from other teams and can't use guys involved to propose other deals)... I have trouble scoring altogether, offensive rebounding, passing in traffic or kicking out from the post without it getting stolen. Getting open shots (you get your 3 pointers blocked and they pick up the ball and score on the other end in about 2 seconds). Computer never buys pump fakes. I just find myself pick/rolling all the time to get open shots and it gets boring at times. I have been working on tweaking it a bit to adjust some of these characteristics and its getting better.

Those are just nitpicking - the game overall is pretty solid.

Madden - Obviously a good game. No question. But frankly I find myself playing NCAA more often because the dynasty mode with the recruiting is such a cool part of the game (I made my college - The College of Charleston and put all my buddies - and best basketball players from our school at WR - on the team which is always fun). In Madden, I do find it a bit difficult to run - but then again my RB's are always unproven rookies like Suggs so they aren't rated all that well yet anyway.

I dont like the "fair play" feature when you play madden online for pc. It forces you to play realistically on 4th down

NBA Live 2005:
A few friends and I have the game and play online at least a few times a week. For a while we found the same problems with the game that Great One did. It just took some time to adjust. Scoring isn't nearly as difficult now that we're more experienced with the game. We had to do a lot of changes to our playstyle in comparison to 2004: using more plays, switching players faster for rebounding, using off the ball movement more, and basically just being more careful with our passes. The one thing that threw me off a lot at first was the big nerf of pro hopping, but it was way too powerful in 2004 anyways.

OK, so now onto a yes or no review... I'd vote yes on both Madden and NBA, seeing as my friends and I got both and enjoy both. We don't play Madden often at all, but that's because I'm a huge NBA fan and just a half-ass NFL spectator. We have lots of fun with NBA, online... But I just can't be bothered to find the time to justify playing out a dynasty. Basically, it's still a great game, just takes time to get used to the changes.
