Did anyone pick it up yet? I just got back from Bestbuy and came home with a Dualshock 3 and the Special Edition GTA4 (I'm a homer). |

Well, I saw last night that gamefly was mailing it to me - I put it in the top of my queue thinking it would just sit there like Gran Turismo has. So, I went ahead and bought it from them for $45... the problem of course is that I don't have it yet. - hopefully tomorrow.

I'm hoping they add an option for custom soundtracks on the PS3 version cause I'm already bored with the radio stations.
They should have a "mixtape" channel which would essentially be like listening to my own iPod in the car.
I read somewhere they had this option in previous versions of the xbox360.
I have successfully used my own music in bowling and MLB The Show for PS3 so the functionality on that end is available.

I've had no luck with this game - I have a launch 60Gb PS3, and it locks about every 15-20 minutes on this game only. So, I'm patiently waiting for some kind of patch/firmware update. I've tried disabling internet, media streaming, etc. to no avail.

That was a common bug on the 60gb.
GTA IV freezing on start up? Panic not, 60gb PS3 owners...

Reports are currently circulating describing a glitch with GTA IV on certain PS3s
Initial reports seem to suggest that the 60GB launch models are most affected by the glitch but don't worry, there's a very simple solution that'll help you get back on the road in no time at all.
1) Delete ALL GTA IV game data, including the pre-install and any game saves (if you've got that far)
2) Update your console to the latest version of the firmware (if you haven't already done so).
3) Shut your console down (till you get the red shutdown light), Power off using the rocker switch at the back, then power back up, start your console up and re-install GTA IV as before.
4) You should now find the game starts once the cut scene has finished / is skipped.
If this doesn't work, then your only option is to contact Rockstar directly using the customer service number in the back of the manual. So far following the above steps seems to universally cure this freezing problem but in the event of a suspect disk or a PS3 fault, your best bet is to contact either Rockstar or Sony respectively

I got mine last week. I havent really played around much with the PS3. Whats this about playing your own music on your PS3? How do you do that? Do you just put in a CD and copy it to the harddrive or something??
Im also waiting for Time Crisis 4 today!

Yeah, no dice. I tried installing the patch, even deleted my install/save games and most of the 12-step process rockstar is pushing to no avail.
Seems I'm not alone with my problem - the following are from the playstation forums:
'I just got off the phone with Take 2 and the patch was for online multiplayer only. Sorry if someone has already posted this, I haven't read the entire thread. They said they have no idea what is causing the freezing problem and no idea when a patch is coming out....'
'Game was already installed and downloaded the patch. patch installed correctly but did not fix my problem of locking up. Deleted all game content and went to reinstall game, said patch had to install first. downloaded again, installed and the gta install process continued. Started game and still locks up 3-5 minutes in. bought this game when it was released here last week and still wont work for me.
60gb ps3 bought on release'
This time it let me play for like 30 minutes, but all this having to power down the ps3 to fix the lockup can't be good, so I'll continue to hold out and play rockband or pixeljunk monsters or something.

There are certain games on the PS3 that now allow custom soundtracks (i.e. MLB The SHow).
Yes, I put in an MP3 cd in so it had a couple hundred songs, and then it copied it to my hard drive. Then when you are playing the game it will usually have an "edit playlist" option or something like that.
This is something new for PS3 but has been fairly common for XBox so its making some progress there. The main game I enjoy the music on is the Bowling game I downloaded from PSN website. Its bowling with your controller (ala the Wii) and personalized music like you are in a real bowling alley. Great party game for under $10.

GTA4 is so sweet. It's so much better than what I remember of Vice City and I thought that game was the bomb. The game is so amazing in so many different ways. Storyline is really good. Of course, nothing beats going American Psycho on every living thing in the game.
