Johnny, thanks for the memories and for over 30 years of TV excellence. You will be missed by millions.
IMHO no one has ever done it better on late night TV. Johnny launched the careers of countless, comedians and other celebs and made late night TV what it is today.

He is still the King Of Late Night. Letterman, Leno, and Conan cannot hold a candle to him.
I will miss him and seeing his highlight footage brought fond memories of my childhood because I would go to bed at 9pm, shut the door to my room, but I would stay awake.
I'd turn on a show and wait for Carson. At the age of 8, my parents didn't want me to watch his show so I'd stay up and keep the volume down on the TV in my room.
I specifically remeber getting busted by my mom because I laughed too loud a few times and she caught me watching The Tonight Show.
Thanks for the memories Johnny and thanks for the endless hours of entertainment.

As a fan, I lapped up sll the obits and appreciations today in the papers. As with CCP, Johnny was the occasion of my first battles with my parents about how late I could stay up.
Of the various Carson jokes reprinted today, my favourite was one that brought back to mind his battles with his employers, NBC, and the endless jhokes about the "NBC commissary".
In a segment he did more often early in his career, he would go out into the studio audience and pick people to ask him a question.
Questioner: "Why is the NBC symbol the peacock?"
Carson. "I don't know. Maybe they couldn't find a multicolored weasel."
RIP.

I loved his joke about a forthcoming Star Trek movie. His quip: "They are going to call it Star Trek: The Search for Regularity."
Still makes me LOL.
Dangerfield and then Carson. A group is leaving us now.

For me, it was unthinkable to miss a monologue. Sometimes, if there was an early meeting, I'd watch the monologue, then go to bed.
Johnny's death is somehow easier to bear than when he left in '92. That's when I mourned him. He was a national treasure.
