0 Subject: Buying an mp3 player

I think it's time I finally get an mp3 player, I miss running / biking while being screamed at by Billy Corgan.

I have no idea what to get or what I should be looking for, or what's considered a good price. I'm completely out of the loop. Basically what I want to be able to do is upload a decent amount of my albums / concerts onto it for exercising purposes. As simple as that. Any ideas on what kind I should be looking for and where I could find a good deal?

if you're going to use it for running, i wouldn't get anything big 30G, etc, because the type of drive it uses isn't conducive to running because it jostles the drive too much and could cause damage.

if you're determined to use an IPOD, grab one of their smaller ones, but i don't use them, so i couldn't even know where to steer you.

as far as other companies go, the Creative Zen Stone Plus and the Sansa Clip are both under 50 bucks, and could be bought at target and are about the size of a book of matches, and both fairly high regarded.

If used for running - the ones with a clip you'll find very useful. You don't need a ton of room, even a small iPod holds a several hundred songs (the Nano I think?).... the iPod Shuffle is nice and has a clip, but (hence the name) all it does is randomly shuffle your songs, you can't choose (other than hitting "Next").

I have the iPod video black one which is pretty bulky... if I were getting it now, and mainly to be active with - I'd probably just get a 4 or 8 gig iPod Nano and then pick up the little armband thing.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm no good with decisions, right now I'm leaning towards the Sansa Clip, all of the reviews seem good and the screen / menu system is a big plus. Anyone disagree? On Amazon the 2 gig one is only $50, does that seem like a good deal? Is 2 gig a decent amount?

I'm gonna assume its the same... but I believe each gig of memory for an iPod is roughly 240 songs (assuming 4 mintues per song I guess).
So thats about 500 songs and seems like a pretty decent size. My rough calculations tell me thats about 30 hours of music. Not too bad for that bargain price.

We've seen the iPod Nano 4 gig for as low as $94 on woot (dot com)... I usually stick with the more established brands for the most part, but I'm sure they both work just fine.

Hey...has anyone have any experience with the Ipod Touch?

Been looking at them, but not sure if they are recommended or worth the price.

Just got the Sansa Clip in the mail and tried it out, it seems like it's exactly what I wanted. Thanks for the recommendation. Music makes running so much more tolerable.
