Subject: Guitar for a noob?

So,
I'm thinking for the heck of it I might want to start to learn how to play guitar.. Growing up, I played various instruments, but just seem I want to try and play guitar lately...
Being that I'm getting older, I hope my fingers can handle it..
Any suggestions for a newbie? Not wanting to go crazy on price.. but don't want anything cheap either... Not sure if I want acoustic or electric either.. So any recommendations would be nice.
