Alright... so looking to pick up a digital video camcorder type device. I have not idea what to get here.

Basically I want one of those little guys where you pull the screen out to the side and can take lots of video... like you see the NBA players walking around with at the All-Star game filming everything.

Anyone got one of these things? can steer me in the right direction? Budget is a few hundred bucks (hopefully!).

Do some record to DVD directly? do I even want that? would I prefer one I plug into my computer after? is that even an option? I know nothing. :0

If you have an HD tv, or are planning on getting one in the future, I would suggest a HD recorder. Most of them now record to solid state memory, and let you either play back on your TV directly from the machine, or to download it to your computer.

Stick to a major brand name IMO, but keep an eye on places like Woot, TigerDirct and NewEgg. You should be able to find one in your budget that is decent.

I do have and HD TV so I might have to look into that. I would probably want something I could put on my computer, then I could pick up some editing software and clean things up and keep things organized.

GO...I wish I could help after all the help you gave in my video game/blu-ray thread, but I don't have one, or use one.

I do check this site a lot for info, and it has a nice article that should help, including info for those on a budget: Camcorder Reviews
