Here's a thread for some of the stuff we've covered elsewhere. Mostly in the Pearl Jam threads, but...
So, I almost bought Metallica's Death Magnetic today. In this day and age, that's a big deal. I haven't bought a CD since Pearl Jam's self-titled two years ago. Anyway, I gave it a listen at the store and it was pretty good. I own just about everything they've ever done except the last one (the one with St. Anger). The Day That Never Comes is the best song they've had in a while.
I finally gave Unforgiven III a listen, and I was mildly disappointed. Maybe that's because Unforgiven II is my favorite Metallica song of all. The third one just didn't do it for me. At least not on the first few listens. |

Anyone got the new U2? My brother said he loves the Metallica album. First he has bought since the black album, he has everything before that.

Metallica has really descended into ineptitude and irrelevance. I remember being in high school when Load (The one after the Black album.) came out. We went to a midnight launch at Rolling Stone records in Chicago and then ditched school the next day to listen to it. Upon listening to that, it was fine because it was softer but still really good.
I still laugh at Unforgiven II. It was funny that a song has a sequel. The orignal was still better; kinda like a movie. Now I guess there's an Unforgiven III: This Time It's Personal so is the trilogy now complete or do we go for IV? Does George Lucas take over and make prequels that suck?
Now though you just want to give Hetfield and Ulrich a warm blanket, a spot of coccoa and a nice rocking chair. Then you tell them, "OK guys, you sit here while the rest of them make good music."
