0 Subject: Hot tub advise

We bought a hot tub and I am setting it in place tomorrow. The electrician is coming next Saturday. Just wondering if anybody has experience and would like to share with me. Any tips. And if I have enough money left over I am going to fly everybody who responds down here to dedicate it.

Ours was here when we bought the house, but I can tell you the people that had it installed did it up right. It's about four years old.

It's a top-of-the-line Jacuzzi brand. It's on a seperate concrete slab adjacent to the back patio. They hard-wired the electricity into it's own breaker that's attached to the side of the house.

It uses bromine instead of chlorine chemical treatment and seems to work prety well. We check it once a week with pH strips and adjust if necessary (rarely necessary, your mileage may vary depending on your local water quality and how often you're in it) and shock it with Spa Shock just for good measure about every two weeks.

Be sure you get a cover-lift mechanism installed- that's the only expenditure we put out that wasn't already on it.

Clean the filters with spray-on filter cleaner every year or so; it really makes a difference. Just be sure to rinse them off well afterward.

I think you need three of them, one ain't enough. Just like my favorite hot springs, you need one at around 100 degrees, one at 107 or so and one at 115. You can't just jump into 115, that hurts, you've got to work up to it. Plus, few chicks can really hang up there. There is nothing in the world that ails you that 115 degree water won't cure.

Passing joints with wet fingers just doesn't work, so people I know get their hands on some fine medical equipment, pincers that lock shut.

"down here"? I thought you live near The Mistake by the Lake? You think we all live in Vermont and Quebec?
