AI has some decent singers this season but final judgement needs to be reserved until the final 13 are chosen.
Really liked Shannon McGrane.
The judges have rendered themselves completely useless with their gushing over less than decent performances.

I think The Voice has a better crop of singers and I enjoyed the blind auditions. Some good singers were not chosen while a few clunkers made the show.
Not sure if I will be able to watch the battle rounds.
Doesnt seem right to be singing "competitive duets". Duets are about harmony and complementing each other not competition.
Would be better if both singers sang the same song one after the other for a side by side comparison.

I just started watching AI this week, so caught the Tuesday and Wednesday shows but missed all of Hollywood and most of the auditions. I thought both shows were two of the worst I'd ever seen. I did like Phillip Phillps, but mostly it was the tone of his voice and not the way he was taking a classic song and trying to butcher it. The only other two males that I liked were Adam Brock (who didn't make it tonight) and Jeremy Rosado (who had to be saved by the judges). For the females, I liked Elise Testone and thought Hollie Cavanagh, Skylar Laine, Jessica Sanchez, and Shannon Magrane were okay.

My list of terrible included:
Aaron Marcellus
Creighton Fraker (true screecher shining through)
Deandre Brackensick (voice seems cool, but the songs he sang this week both sounded terrible)
Eben Franckewitz (I was thinking about not watching this year if this Justin Bieber clone actually made the top 13)
Heejun Han (How did he get voted top 5 males?)
Jennifer Hirsh (Not sure how she was picked to sing again tonight.)
Jermaine Jones (also top 5 males. Really?)
Reed Grimm
Baylie Brown (so hot, so out of tune)
Brielle Von Hugel
Haley Johnsen (Sweet Dreams is a great song and she butchered it)
Hallie Day

List of not terrible, but who will never be significant in the music industry:
Chase Likens
Colton Dixon
Joshua Ledet
Chelsea Sorrell
Erika Van Pelt (she was close to being okay, both songs)

I didn't really care who made the top 13 beyond Phillips and Testone.

I totally agree about The Voice. I thought there were a couple really good singers who should have been picked and a couple terrible ones who were picked. One of them, I think 3 judges turned around and she ended up going to Blake. I was just baffled that anyone picked her. Overall, there are some great singers and we are going to see some good ones leave so early due to the format. Every coach has some really good singers.

Really liking the Voice this season. The talent on that show is hands down better than the talent on AI, imho. My personal favorites are Jordis Unga(remember her on RockStar INXS?) and Charlotte Sometimes(not sure if anybody on the panel are Cure fans, but how does it go unmentioned at all anywhere. I even checked the Voice Forums. Weird) Totally agree that a couple were left out and a couple shouldn't be in.

Haven't really watched much AI this season, totally bored of the judges constantly complimenting the contestants, at least think of original things to say. Vegas needs to make a bet available on how many times Steven Tyler says "beautiful" during a show. And I know JLo likes them young, but quit drooling over the hairy kid...

What a difference a few weeks make. I don't know if these kids have just grown on me or if I dig Billy Joel songs quite a bit, but I enjoyed tonight a lot. Take out Heejun, who was terrible, and I'd listen to the rest of the performances all day tomorrow.

I hate country music pretty much but am really enjoying Skylar...she may not win but seems destined for maybe the best career out of this group. She seems ready right not to have a hit song and start touring.

Jessica should get a deal and was really surprised she was at the bottom. Seems like almost a setup by AI to sort of remind people to vote for their favorites because no one is really safe. Sort of what x-factor did with Melanie Amaro. She sings and performs well beyond her years...obvious she has been performing her entire life.

Joshua Ledet is a really strong singer...have enjoyed some of his songs a lot. Probably the best male black vocalist I have seen on any of these type shows. A bit over the top at times but really strong and gifted and should excel if given the right guidance.

Phillip Phillips have enjoyed some of his stuff. Not sure if he really has the chops to go to the next level...sort of depends on his own material.

Hate Colton Dixon...do not get the judges love of this guy...think he is overrated. Emo nonsense...and not really a great singer.

Hollie...too young...gifted singer but no stage presence.

Elise...she is hit or miss. Have really liked some of her stuff hated others. She does have talent and a unique voice.

Spot on analysis TRS.
I would have Hollie and Elise ahead of Phillip and Colton but other than that you nailed it.
Didnt care much for Skylar at first but she has been growing on me as well.
Glad to see Skunk head go home last night.

The judging continues to be nauseating.
The next judge who utters "you can sing the phone book" should be sent home.
At least the stupid save is no longer in play.
They didnt let Casey finish his song last season either.
If J-lo had her way she would have saved Deandre and Jessica would be out.
Instead of the save they should allow the judges to send one of the bottom 3 to safety each week until they get to the top 6.

My order would be:
Skylar
Joshua
Jessica
Phillip
----
Elise
Hollie

I think America has got it right so far this season. Do not really miss anyone who has been voted out. I think the top 4 all have a chance to get significant deals.

I think this is a good top 6. Hollie and Elise should be the next two to go, but I like all of the remaining singers. I am not as high on Phillip or Elise as I was the first couple times I saw them, but I enjoy watching all of them sing. I really enjoy listening to Jessica. She has such a great voice. Joshua and Skylar would be my next favorites.

I enjoyed the show tonight. I'm sure my top/bottom three will be all wrong because at this point it's just about favorites, but here is my opinion on tonight's performances.
1) Jessica - my favorite. Both songs were great. I did have a Kellie Pickler flashback on her first song, which has been one of my favorite idol performances. I'm a sucker for Bohemian Rhapsody. I loved Jessica's second song as well. She hits the notes just right for me.
2) Elise - I thought she rocked both songs. Great job with Queen and Hendrix.
3) Hollie - Did well with both songs. She has a nice voice, when singing.
4) Josh - Didn't care for his first song, but he knocked it out of the park with his second song. I am looking forward to buying his first album. So much soul poured into his music.
5) Skylar - First song was good. Second song was too country for me.
6) - Phillip - Didn't care for either song. Hope he ends up leaving. I don't need to hear anything else from him.
