0 Subject: Diablo 3?

Has anyone heard if there's going to be a third version of this game? Loved Diablo, loved Diablo 2...

Didn't mess much with the expansion sets for these since they seemed a little hollow without any supporting context.

Played a networked version of D2 once and enjoyed it, but never really got another opportunity...

Does anyone have a suggestion for a similar game that I might try out?

Blizz is going to let the Diablo series die out AA. (my opinion anyway.) They have been concentrating heavy assets to WoW and all others have apparently been allowed to fall by the wayside.

Blizz on-line support (anti-hack etc) for the Diablo series has always been atrocious at best. I and many others I know of, have sworn off Blizz games from now on for that reason.

I wish they would make Starcraft 2

Me too. Warcraft is cartoonish (and gets more so in WCIII), Starcraft is just plain cool.

If they could truly allow 3-D space battles, instead of simply two planes - one ground, one air - it would rock.

They have to know they're sitting on a gold mine with a Starcraft sequel, so maybe they're waiting until they've run out of other ideas before using their ace.

I was also a big SC fan. I played a TON of it...I found the 2nd edition fun too, with the addition of new creatures and what not.

They probably will also do a cost to play online for SC2 Im guessing.

I'm simply not good enough to play most of the young punks online who can spend 8 hours a day figuring out how to nuke me into oblivion in 82 seconds. I occasionally play friends, but if they charged, I would just move to my home network.

They can't charge for that... can they?

not that I can see bili. But with WoW for ex, its ONLY playable via the Blizz on-line servers.

AA, I wondering if you've given the Baulder's Gate series a shot? It may looked a little dated by today's standards but it's still a great game.

Yes, I was thinking the same Texas Flood, Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, I've played them both and they were pretty awesome at the time. If you liked the Diablo series, AA, you should really dig Baldur's Gate. Another fantastic series was Myth 1&2.

If you enjoyed Baldur's Gate, you will love Champions of Norrath. It is the next creation made from snowblind studios. Loads and plays just like Baldurs Gate, but the story and graphics are improved. You should check out the reviews for it. review

AA, I can loan you BG2 (I may be able to find my copy of BG1) if you are interested, though Zach may whine ;) Icewind Dale and ID2 are also great RPG's.

Hey y'all...

Thanks for the feedback. I played the snot out of my Warcraft 1 and 2 back in the day but opted out of 3. I've never played Starcraft however, and may give that a try, based on comments I've read here. Before I go that way tho, it appears that Baldur's Gate is something I need to try. Thanks all for the suggestion...

My nephew gave me a copy of BG1 but there was something wrong with the disk and I never followed up on it. Aren't there something like 5 BGs now? Or am I thinking of a different game?

Champions of Norrath sounds pretty interesting as well, but it sounds like Balder's Gate may be a good into into the interface without the difficulty (from reading the review)...

Of course - who am I kidding about having the time (anymore) to devote to a game like the ones we're talking about! Then again, the guys in my work league might benefit from my divided attention! ;)

Ender,

That sounds like a grand idea, if you think Zach can spare me the game for a while... :)

Baldur's gate is a pretty standard "go down levels to gain levels, fight meanies and pick up gold" kinda game. Very well done for the genre, but I like stateegery much more, and Starcraft is the king of that, imho.

I can loan you my Starcraft as well :) We'll just need to pick a day.

No Alpha Klaus this time though :P

bili,
Strateegery! Hilarious! The first time I saw that skit I almost peed my pants! In fact, I think I actually did pee my pants!

Ender,
Whichever you can pry away from the young'uns will do for me. Plus, I still have that Mackeson's for you to sample. Too bad Kzose's not around to help me sing it's praises... :)

Is Starcraft for PC only?

TB, I think it is though it may have been ported to PS1.

AA, I forgot about the Mackeson's. We'll need to plan ahead. The next 2 weeks are crazy between basketball and the holidays.
