Watching TV tonight and seeing the upcoming movie ads;
Remake of Willy Wonka essentially, "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"
Remake of Bewitched,
Remake of "The Longest Yard",
Remake, remake, remake....cant bring them all to mind, but struck katie and I as WTF? Are there NO original story lines left to be told? Has Hollywood run its course and is now living upto (down to?) the South Park episode where the boys went to Lucas home (or was it Spielbergs????) to get their money back?

The Superman movie sounds pretty good. Kevin Spacey and the director of Usual Suspects are connected to the project. The new Batman movie should also be good. The director of Memento is attached to direct.

A remake of "The Warriors" is coming out in 2006 directed by Tony Scott. No official cast has been announced yet.
I really liked the original movie and I wish they'd leave well enough alone.
For those who haven't seen The Warriors I would highly recommend that you take a stroll to Blockbuster or cyber-stroll to NetFlix and scope it out.
Hollywood and the media are wondering why revenues are down and I think this is a huge reason. No original ideas and the fact that its cheaper to wait eight months and own the movie than it is to go to the theater means less movie goers.

That's one of my all-time top 10.
And can you believe the video game is on its way, allegedly following the movie pretty close? After all these years??

Can you dig it?
I'd go see it, which answers the "why?" question but "how" do you remake The Warriors? The 70's were such a simpler time for gangs. The whole set up was that someone had a gun.
I saw The Warriors a few years ago on Joe Bob Briggs Drive-In Movie Show on USA(?). He had some interesting commentary about how it was based on an "Odyssey"-type story from the Greek city/state times. An army had to fight their way back home after allegiances changed while they were out. He also said the Transit Authority had a problem with the movie because it showed people how to jump over the turnstiles in the subway. As if...
