Luckily didn't have to work tonite - but once again, more unanswered questions. Sarge joked that when the show starts up again in Oct., I'll likely be scheduled to close that night.
May have to take a vacation day ;-)

It was a little disappointing. The only question that was really answered was that the others appear to human. It'll be interesting how the raft situation will play out. Sawyer appeared to have gotten shot but I find it hard to believe the writers would kill him off. I think Jin will somehow sacrifice himself in order to save Sawyer and Michael.

did anyone notice when Hurley was running for his plane, he passed what looked like a soccer team. You could see the backs of their jerseys and they were those same bad luck #s.

taste: no I did not, but, if true, a cool idea. Kind of like finding the Superman in Seinfeld episodes.
Lost reminds me of Twin Peaks...I fear with so many loose ends it will be hard for the writers to tie everything together successfully.
We'll see.

I can confirm posts 8 and 9, watched the episode again last night. Didn't notice a music change but wasn't listening for it either, and you can't see the head of the flight attendant so no way to tell for sure who it is. But it definately did not appear to be anyone sinister.

I posted this on another website and I wonder what your guys' take is on my numbers theory....
I took a look at these numbers and here's an additional take on them...
4+8+15+16+23+42=108
1+0+8=9
The average of that sequence is 18.
1+8=9
The "final sum" of the sequence plus the "final sum" of the average are:
9+9 = 18
1+8=9
We then have three 9s.
Since Australia is on the bottom of the Earth and the rotation of the planet has a different effect. For instance, when you flush a toilet bowl the water spins in a different direction.
Therefore, if you take 999 and turn it upside down you get 666.
That number would certainly explain all the bad luck and evil associated with it.
Does anyone see the significance in the number 9 on this show?
That is my crackpot theory.

on the bottom of the earth???????? havent bothered to look, but I'm thinking Australia is no further S of the Equator, than the US is N of it. For some strange reason, I've always thought of Antarctica as being "on the bottom" of the Earth.
Just pick 6 numbers at random, 1-50, and then "play" with them.
ie 4,32,44,12,6,16 = 36+56+18 = 110, 1 from 10 = 9. gosh.
IOW, almost any set of nrs can be manipulated, to produce almost any result.

Just watched the show for the first time last night. There was a plane crash, people died, a doctor and his friends went looking for the planes cockpit and transponder and some unseen monster was lurking in the bushes.
Never did see the monster but I'm assuming he must be Predatoresque in nature?
Is this kind of a remake of "Land of the Lost" and is the thing in the jungle a modern sleestax? I'm guessing the show is continued but there were no previews shown for next weeks episode.
I almost never watch network TV but 24 kept me hooked all season and I may have to watch this show through the summer. Perhaps TV is getting better?

I think somebody mentioned it in one of the early episodes. I would assume it has some backstory regarding Jack, you don't see too many actors with tattoos.

THIS is certainly an interesting development, since she was sitting at the back of the plane, based on the convo she had with Jack in the bar....

They can go almost anywhere they want with these storylines. Rumor was (before the final episode) that a few of the characters would "obviously" not be coming back after the finale. I can easily see how each and every one could conceivably return, even Boone I suppose. Here's hoping the writers use some originality along the same lines as season 1.

I've even heard it said that the island represents the other side of "Gilligan's Island". How crazy is that?
I've heard the thoughts regarding purgatory and death. Frankly, I disagree. Although I can't pinpoint with accuracy exactly how this will all pan out it seems Walt and Locke have some sort of secrets or secret powers that nobody else possesses. Interesting.

Actually, I think the Hurley-Walt exchange is even a little deeper than that. Hurley with the "evil numbers" and Walt with the "bad things happen" powers. I think something is going to evolve there...or should.

the purgatory/everyone is dead thought it one of the most lame to me. if it turned out that way, i'd be seriously disappointed.
RSF - i agree with you on the depth of the Hurley-Walt relationship, although in that particular scene, i don't think that's why Hurley was giving Walt the thumbs up. in that case, it was just a simple greeting.
as for those who took Walt, i've got two theories.
1. They are "The Others". i know this has already been discussed by those involved in the show. But i'm not convinced they're human - i think the smokey images we saw in the season finale (and actually, throughout the series, some of which can be seen from this link, ) are The Others, and they can take any shape or form - including human. the men on the boat were The Others, in human form.
2. the men in the boat are just minions for The Others. They realized long ago that working for them was better than working against them.
as for the men in the boat, the snowy swirling around them in that final scene leads me to wonder if they've been granted immortality, by helping the Others.
also, in watching again, i'm pretty sure there is a set of twins on the boat. it could be nothing, but so far, nothing on this show is "for nothing"...

The "purgatory" theory is the one I hear the most, and I agree, that would be a lame way to go...too predictable, and well, to overdone in hollywood.
As I stated earlier, this all reminds me of Twin Peaks, an awesome show that died out because the writers had too many things occurring at onc and could not tie them together.
Hopefully, the writers and producers read postings of the show often to get ideas.
I really like this show right now...It's nice to wonder what could happen next.
Reminds me of the first 4 years of the X-Files too....
Maybe all the bad luck will lead to good luck.
Also, the psychic that warned Claire about the baby? We need to see more about that as well. He seem to hint at the others.?
