ok - I'm tired - a bit buzzed from the festivities - don't wanna go on and on about this, but - what the hell was MTV thinking?!
floyd was great. the band that many of us consider to be the greatest band ever possible, back together after 24 years, in the middle of the last song and high point of their set - INTERRUPTED by two ignorant vj's or whatever they are, rambling on about something while floyd is somewhere in the background still playing their guts out. thankfully they cut back to the show right when the comfortably numb guitar solo started, but then - to add insult to injury - they cut to commercial before the song ends. you don't even get to see them exit the stage.
to me this just reinforces how ignorant MTV is as a whole as far as truly decent music goes.
you would think that someone in the chain (the producer, director, cameraman, the 2 idiots that did the rambling, the guy that works the lights, ANYONE) would have said "WE CAN'T INTERRUPT THIS YOU FOOLS!"
I just can't believe it. I try to tolerate ignorance, but holy crap, someone hand me a club. a pine-tar handled club with a sharp point and thorns along the side. OMG.

in austria/germany it was even more worse: MTV Germany (and all other german Viacom-channels) showed 0 (zero!) minutes from the concerts yesterday. and that as being host-broadcaster in Berlin. bye bye MTV.
all we got is the world-feed delayed by over 1 hour on a german channel (phoenix, without commercials) and delayed by 4 hours on an austrian channel (ATV+, with commercials).
and that with over 500 channels available via digital satellite (Astra1).

I am not sure if this is funny or sad but I was flipping through the channels and ABC had Live 8 on. Well it goes to commercial and the first commercial is for Trim Spa !! A concert about world hunger and a commercial for trim spa.

Dudes, MTV is and has been pathetic. For about 10 years. It was definitely gradual, but it's certainly complete. They only care about one thing, and that's how 21-year-olds spend their money. That is it. I swear. It's am embarassment to Western Civilization. Corrupt and greedy. That's about all I can say about that.

Once MTV got away from just showing music videos, it was all downhill. That probably was like 10 years ago.

I was pretty pissed when they cut away during my second favorite guitar solo ever (right behind Sweet Child of Mine...)
is Floyd going on tour again now reunited or was that just a one time thing?
