0 Subject: Logo Golf Balls

I'm considering ordering some golf balls with a RotoGuru logo to be used for prizes. There are a lot of online sites which offer these. Does anyone have any experience with any of them, good or bad?

Just fiddling a bit with a possible design for a golf ball imprint.

Here is my first idea:

The imprint area is apparently 7/8" square, so there isn't much room for detail.

Anyone got a better idea? I'm looking for something rough now, not a finished image.

I dont know if it is possible, but maybe having rotoguru.com extend around the ball

Can you wrap the Rotoguru.com on the top and put the GuruGolf below the lightbulb and let us take a peek at it like that? Also, can you put an image of a golfer or crossed clubs in to replace the lightbulb?

well, the lightbulb is the Rotoguru logo so I'd think having it on there makes sense.

I know that I'll need them with little "beepers" installed. I hit the fairways so infrequently and manage to find the woods with such regularity, it would truly be helpful if the ball had a transponder in it so I could find the damn thing after my tee shot. :)

Another attempt:

Probably best to leave the backround blank (i.e., white).

While on the topic, what brand/model of golf ball would be appropriate for prizes? For example, I'm thinking not only of perhaps a dozen logo golf balls to the overall winner, but perhaps a sleeve of 3 balls for various events during the season, such as each Major (maybe even a worstball competition for each Major).

I like to play Titleists, but I usually buy used ones. For prize purposes, I'd like to get something that is reasonably good, but not unreasonably expensive. For example, I don't think Titleist Pro V1 is realistic (at $45 per dozen). However, I would consider Titleist NXT, NXT Tour, or DT Solo. But maybe some other brand would be an even better choice.

As an example of pricing, here's one company's offerings: bestbuygolfballs.com. Any suggestions for a good balance of price vs. quality?

How about refurbished ProV1's? They run about $20. Are they available thru the company you're getting the logo balls from?

I can't afford to lose any of those expensive ProV's, (I mean that's an extra value meal!)

I think the logo from #6 with a green background would look good. You can see the green background easier when trying to determined which is yours.

Maxfli Noodle's are what I buy when I don't spring for the Pro V's. They are a little less expensive the the 2nd tier Titleist. Nice combination of feel and distance. After all they're "Long and Soft".

I generally buy "X-outs". lol $9/dz and I dont cry when I lose them. ;)

On those rare occasions I do buy "good" golf balls, I've always been inclined to go with Pinnacles.

If I was lucky enough to win a sleeve of these golf balls, (which is unlikely since I haven't entered a team yet), I would probably give 2 to friends of mine that collect logo balls, and start my own collection with the third. In other words, it doesn't matter what kind of ball is under the logo.

Maxfli "Noodle"?

You gotta be kidding me. That's one of the worst golf balls you can buy. Only people who know nothing about golf buy them.

Hacker ball.

Besides Titleist, I always thought the Dunlop "Revelation" was a good ball. And the Nike balls are pretty good.

Pinnacle, Ultra, Top Flite all decent balls.

MadDOG, I was getting ready to defend my suggestion, until I read yours. Pinnacle? They sell those by the gross at Florida water courses for the hacks to fill the lakes with. Rock Flite... don't think so.

You're right tho I'm a hack, give me 3 a side and bring your allowance and I'll give it a shot ;)

My suggestion was actually the Dunlop "Revelation".

The high end Top Flites and Pinnacles aren't bad balls. Like the Top Flite XL 3000's "Super Feel" and the Pinnacle Exception's. I've seen alot worse balls than that including those Maxfli Noodles that somebody mentioned above.

Nike makes some nice balls. Maybe Guru should check those out. And you get the nice Nike symbol on every ball.

Actually, I would probably go with a Nike ball over that Dunlop ball that I suggested.

BTW, I used to go to a woods next to a golf course which was on my bicycle route and stop for 5 minutes and collect all the balls I could find.

I have seen alot of different balls. I have 100's of different balls in my closet.

I received a shipment of Titleist NXT Tour balls today (there's a little glare in the center, but that's the light bulb from the RotoGuru logo):

I've also ordered some Top Flite XL balls with the same logo. I haven't yet formulated a complete prize plan, but it will include some special events, some worstball contests, some GuruPatron incentives, etc.

Full season winner will probably win a dozen Titleists - or 2 dozen if that person is a GuruPatron. I'll have prizes for just the Majors, both individually and all 4 combined, both bestball and worstball. Those prizes will probably just be a sleeve or 2, with perhaps a bigger prize for GuruPatrons.

Any other ideas on prizes?

There are 5 tournaments that tee off in March. I have decided to offer a small prize to the teams with the best combined results for those five tournaments. The team with the best total (bestball) score for those 5 events will win a sleeve of Titlelist golf balls imprinted with a RotoGuru logo. The team with the maximum worstball score for those five events will win a sleeve of Top Flite XL balls (same logo). If either winner is a GuruPatron, the prize will be doubled. To be eligible for the doubling, you must be a GuruPatron by March 17th. In the event of a tie, the team with the highest value (golfers plus cash) at the end of the BellSouth Classic (including the related price changes for that tournament) will win the tiebreaker for each prize. If that’s also a tie, I’ll simply offer duplicate prizes. Since these five tournaments lead up to the Masters (which is not included), I’ll call these the “March to the Masters” prizes.

The cheapest and best ball on the market is a ball retriever with the longest extension available. If you can find a course with a lot of water you can have unlimited Golfballs for $20.00.
I lose my balls so fast that paying for them would put me in the poorhouse.

My suggestion is to make sure you buy balls that don't go in the woods, water or on another hole.

That way sarge will never be in danger of loosing his! ;-)

Mine never go far enough to loose.

I received my logo golf balls for winning the March to the Masters contest yesterday - they are really sharp. So sharp that I will be nervous to use them during play:) Thanks Guru for a great game, great prizes, and great service.

If you lose 'em in the woods, someone else will find them, and I'll consider it advertising. So whack away!

I've been thinking about other excuses to award prizes. I think I'll offer the following for single round scores:

If any team gets -19 or better (bestball), they win a sleeve of Titleists. (I thought about making the standard -18, but we had three of those in one tournament earlier this year!) I'll also award a sleeve for any team scorecards with 18 birdies. (All three of the earlier -18s had one eagle and one par.)

If any team produces a worstball scorecard with no pars or better, I'll award a sleeve of Top Flites. I don't think that's been done yet this year, although we came close last week.

Also, for any of these single round awards, the prize is doubled if the winner is a GuruPatron. A doubled sleeve of Top Flites can also be converted to a single sleeve of Titleists.

Any other ideas for relatively unique prizes?
