Does anyone have a solution for shanking the ball? I've looked it up on the internet but there are tons and tons of different things they say to do from keeping your left arm close to your side to not leaning forward to not standing to close to the ball. Last summer I shanked a lot and then got rid of them, shooting in the low 40s usually. Now i'm shanking all the time again. Any suggestions would be great!

If you normally hit in the low 40s, there's little you're going to learn from me. My first thought would be to contact rockafellershank... ;)

The only thing that works for when I'm trying to work out the kinks is practice, practice, practice... so I'm sure I'm of little help.

When the Shank attack hits.
I go to the range and start off with a 5 or 6 IROn and take club back 12-15 inchs back and take a putting stroke(with arms locked making a v)and only go 12-15inchs forward. Just trying to make contact. Hitting 10-15 balls.
Then the next 10 balls go farther 15-25inchs.
Most of the time shank is your hand get to far away from your body. standing too close too the ball forces you to swing the club out and away from your body coming down.

Works for me. If it happens while on the track. I close my eyes and take mini strokes going back and forth. Then drop 2 clubs and take a 3/4 swing.
And if that dont work I take a nip of Evil Water.

I have that problem all the time. I can drive the crap out of the ball, but I have to aim far left to get it down the middle. I remember the one time I was at the range and hit it so bad, it went off the gate in front of me and came back and hit me, instead of flying off to the left of me. (That doesn't paint that good of a picture).

I've heard that maybe, possibly golf lessons with a good teaching pro may help......but I wouldn't know 1st hand.

Try to take a swing with something else on your mind. They seem to get for me if I try to get really mechanical with my swing.

I went to play around last summer and had time to go to the driving range before I teed off. I managed to shank most of the bucket without getting any balls in the air making a fool of myself. It didn't seem to matter what club I used I couldn't hit any of them. I get to the first tee box and there was a huge crowd waiting to tee off.

I teed my ball up walked up and hit with out taking any practice swings. Right down the middle and I think I shot in the low 90's for the day.

Good luck getting rid of them,

I took a lesson once. $35/hr and about 1/2 way through the pro turns to me and says, "I have your problem figured out. You're standing too close to the ball after you swing." For THAT, I had to pay the clown.

Watch the movie "Tin Cup". I think there is a few solutions to shanking in there.

Yeah, wqrtyt, stop thinking about the hot chick that you want badly but who's dating one of the best golfer's on tour. And quit worrying about playing in the US Open; it's just another golf tournament. And what the heck are you doing hanging around with Cheech? That stuff'll make you lose your focus.
