Most likely we will launch at the beginning of next week, but the first two weeks will be designated as preseason. So the first week "for keeps" will be the Nissan Open from Feb 16-19.

Here is an early peek at the tentative rules for 2006.

Although it looks like there are a fair number of changes, there are really only two substantive rule changes, I think:

1. Full season scoring will provide for one "mulligan tournament". If you forget to set your roster, or are away and unable to make changes, or you just have a lousy week, you can throw out one week's score. However, Major tournaments cannot be discarded.

2. If the first day if a tournament is completely postponed, I'll unfreeze trading for another day. This should be no big deal, but the situation occurred a few times last year, and it seems that there is no harm, and could be especially useful if some golfers withdraw late due to the weather problems.

It's not too late to make revisions, and I'm particularly interested in cathcing typos, and in adjusting language that may be ambiguous, so I'd appreciate your review.

Would a possible strategy be to not make trades for a week in attempts to stockpile trades be allowed?

Some of the tournaments, notably those during the World Golf events, have very different fields than you expect to see on a weekly basis. Without looking at the calender, wouldn't a prudent move be to punt that week and bank the extra 2 trades?

Of course. That is, and always has been, a key component of trade management.

re post 9

line 1, (9) Scoring will be calculated on two bases: best ball and worst ball.

shouldn't "bases" read "basis"?

Thats the only typo/ambiguity I saw.

rule 8 says:

Tournament scoring is the calculated by hole...

drop 'the'

will have to read the rest of the rules later

The game has been launched. If you can remember your login from last year, you can continue to use it, and don't need to register again.

[12] - "bases" is correct. It's the plural of "basis".

[13] - thanks. I corrected it.

created two teams and set the roster for one. When I try and switch to the other team though, it doesnt execute. (That, or I'm just not waiting long enough.)

Still wouldnt switch. So I went back to :Manage Rosters", selected the 2nd (WB) team, then set the roster. Having done that, its now swapping fine from the drop down. *shrug*

For rule 9 you may want to say something that it is always scored in this format regardless of PGA event scoring (ie, modified Stableford scoring).

I think that's what it is called.

I think that rule 11, where it talks about prioritizing provisional golfers, gets a bit confusing, but I'm not too worried about things at that level of detail anyway :)

Thanks for the game Guru!

re my post 19, I am still unable to swap between teams. I did find that my Firefox is generating the following error message:

"Error: uncaught exception: Permission denied to set property Window.0"

Is there something I need to set differently within my Firefox Options??

When you first go to the GuruGolf site, do you go to rotoguru1.com/golf/ or www.rotoguru1.com/golf/?

If you have www in the address, try using the URL without the www. prefix

I get there by using the drop-down from above. Sends me to here:

http://www.rotoguru1.com/golf/

just checked using IE, and it switches just fine between the teams. *shrug* Guess I'll use IE then.
