0 Subject: The Golfies - GuruGolf Awards

Posted by: Smith32
- [221421217] Sun, Feb 19, 2006, 22:26

I am starting this thread for anyone who would like to nominate a team, their own or someone else's, for an exceptional achievement (good or bad) during the GuruGolf season. Creativity is encouraged! The "Golfies" will be awarded at year-end.

To kick off the season, I will nominate the Crap Shoot (one of my teams) for "Poorest Bestball Performance by Four Active Players in a Non-Major" for recording a whopping 3 bestball birdies during Round 2 of the Nissan Open.

My BB team, Bogeymasters, twice this week carded a BB round of -4; with 3 golfers going. (A score which I will add, was bettered by my WB squads -5, with only 2 golfers going.)

I'll nominate any team that had Tiger and Oberholser as thier only 2 two golfers making the cut. Not sure if anyone did that, but it would make for a tough weekend.

I'd have to second that criteria for this week. "Loose Impediments", gets my nod.

How about nominating Tiger himself?!!? He came into the Nissan fighting the flu and played Friday in the rain and cold w/o an umbrella in spite of being offered one from a fan. He was over heard commenting that it wasn't big enough to keep him dry.

I know, it's for GuruGolf, but Tiger definitely deserves a bonehead award of the week. Ok, he's in the running w/Ricky Williams for the pro award........

wasn't big enough to keep him dry.

The dome over the Cistine Chapel isn't big enough to keep his head dry. What a jerk!

I like the suggestions, we'll add these two to the mix:

Loose Impediments earns a nomination for "Best Disappearing Act".

I thought according to Tiger's commercial there is no such thing as a rainy day? Stevie must be watching too much TV. Anyhow, we'll add an individual category for "Worst Explanation for a DNF", since this will likely be a source of frustration for owners throughout the season. Tiger Woods - "I forgot my umbrella" - is the first nominee.

Keep them coming in the weeks to come, we'll have a good list by year-end.

In fairness to Stevie and Tigger, the weather forecast did not indicate a cold & rainy Friday. To top it off, the forecast for Saturday (given Friday night) was cold and rainy, yet it was a sunny day. But this still doesn't excuse Tiger and his snobbishness.

No idea what the "worst" WB rnd yet recorded came to, but this has to be right up there in contention.

Last week at Bay Hill two teams had a WB score of +22 in rounds 2 and 4.

Last year at Bay Hill my "Big Stick" team had a round with a WB score of +27 at Bay Hill - as far as I know that was the second best WB score ever in GuruGolf.

HOWEVER, "WB-jeffg" had a WB score of +35 in the 1st round of last year's Masters (Billy Casper - with a +11 on hole #16 - was +34 all by himself for the first round and Jack Nicklaus added a bogey on #12).

I like it - Davis Love nominated for the "Jeckyl and Hyde Award" for his 65-83.
