Wow. Mark Wilson goes from winning the Honda to being an alternate at the PODS?

What is everyone doing with Fred Funk this week? I don't know if I want to waste a trade with my team to get rid of him. What is anyone else doing?

Fred put my team in a Funk, as well. I'll probably use a trade to replace him, but only to someone that is committed to the next 3 tournaments. That means Charles Howell and Justin Rose. I just don't want to get Freddie Flunked again this week. If I'm going to make an unexpected trade, I try to get at least 3 weeks out of it.

There are a few other guys that are in the PODS and have played the Arnold Palmer and WGC-CA at least 4 of the last 5 years. They are Singh, Garcia, Appleby, and Lonard. I think they will all play the next 3 but they haven't committed as of yet. And there may be a few others that I haven't looked at yet.

Wilson's win moves him up the rankings and puts him in the PODS field, now. Someone else gets bumped back to the alternate spot. They adjust the field after the previous tournament finishes, and Wilson indicated that he would be at the PODS this week.

When I picked Cliff Kresge for one of my teams, I figured he was a hot young rookie. Today, I looked at his profile more closely, and he'll turn 39 this year! Been bouncing back and forth between the PGA tour and the Nationwide tour for years.

Found this in his career highlights:
Gained his first PGA TOUR card by virtue of a T21 finish at the 2000 PGA TOUR Qualifying Tournament. Gained notoriety during Q-School's final round. Was lining up a long par putt at the water-guarded ninth green when he kept moving back and fell into the water. Climbed out, missed the putt and made bogey, but managed to finish the back nine in rain pants and a wet shirt to complete the grueling 108 holes of competition at 18-under par.
My new golfing hero!

ROFL - I actually know someone who would/could do this. ;-)

Whoopee! I bested my 4-round Honda Classic score in one round of the good old PODS! Not that that's anything to brag about...

Funk withdrew again. I didn't take my own advice, and I left him on a team. I have to start listening to me more.

Once again . . . sunk by Funk. Didn't take your advice either and I have him on two teams. It would be nice if he withdrew before he signed his card but I think I know why he's doing this. I believe as long as you complete one round of a tournament, it's considered official making last week and this week official for Freddie. I also believe a player needs to play a minimum number of events to maintain status on the PGA tour. With Fred playing mostly Champions Tour events, he might need these tourneys to meet the minimum.

He's on the list of early commits for Bay Hill so could pull this stunt again. That's why he won't be any of my teams.

OH GREAT....w/Funks W/D...and my posts 8, 11 and 12...THIS may be a worse week than last week. (Wouldnt have thought that was even possible.)

That makes a lot of sense, Rex. Hadn't thought of that.

He's on 38 teams this week. It'll be interesting to see if he's on any at Bay Hill.

Daly also withdrew, likely due to his injury from last week. Notice that he also finished the first round. I could be wrong, but if my theory in 17 holds up we could have a new expression - Funking a tournament. As in, "Although still feeling the effects of the injury he suffered last week, Daly chose to Funk the tournament." Let's hope Bo Van Pelt doesn't catch on to this!

If the cut were held right now...

I'd have 2 on each BB and WB for the weekend. (feeling like I shot myself in one foot last week and the other one this week.)

Pfftttttt...this week stinks as bad (or maybe worse) than last week.

Cut now?

wildyams - 2 going (lost Funk & could lose Johnson)

katie1 - 3 going. Frazar could pull it out on the front nine...not holding my breath.

katie 2 - 2 going. Funkified and Frazered.

wb - baaaddd. 1 going (maybe as Lonard is sitting a +1 and finished). Frazared and with Johnson and Gamaez (+6!!!!!) its not looking good at all.

I'm expecting those at +2 to make the cut. I doubt if those at +3 will make it.

The last tournament held at this course also had a cut at +2.

If Calc can birdie 7 and 9, my WB team will be -9 thru 9 on the day.
