I'm not particularly happy with my team. I've also played Smallworld many years, Ultimate the last years, (couldn't afford it this year) I don't like the new free basic gameplay where the rich can buy trades till they burst and leave the rest behind. Not very fair. Anyway, I went with the late draft idea for the first time. It's sooo agonizing waiting, today I couldn't wait any longer. My team looks like this:
C Barnes (jumped on the train)
W Nolan (haven't played yet so it's a jeopardy) W Bondra (won't collect money but great schedule and potential points)
D Jillson (jumped on the train) D Tanabe
G Aebischer
Extra: Spezza
But I had in mind already before season started to pick Abby, Spezza and Tanabe, so I don't know if it really paid off waiting. If Barnes and Jillson continues the money train it's great but Jillson might stop already now. I'd love to get some Avs players, Kariya etc, but the schedule is too bad right now. It's enough with Abby. So, any thoughts? Should I have waited longer?

Well, let's look at it in terms of the points you've lost out on. Since you only knew for sure three guys on the roster, it is: 162 aebischer 64 spezza 66 tanabe 292 points... You probably stand to make ... maybe $500k from jillson and barnes? (If you hop off at the right time) I believe the rule of thumb in the old game (when they had 11 guys) was that every $1k u make will probably eventually translate into 1 point difference at the end of the year. I don't know if that is the same anymore with the new 7 player lineup. So you're "ahead", if you can make that much money. But trains tend to be far shorter in the new game, I've found.
As for Nolan, well, we'll still have to wait and see if his back holds up.
