That really sucks. The least they could have done was given him the full value of the prize. What bunch of cheap bastards.

Sue for the full amount. Go talk to a local attorney and get them to pick up the case for 1/2 of what is being shorted ($3,000). It wouldn't even be a difficult case to win.

What a crok! Unfortunately, he can't get the full value if he waived his rights in order to get that check. If he sues without taking the check, he could be in court for years, and SW could have gone bankrupt in the meantime (didn't they just have a huge layoff). I guess I have had to do the same thing.
I gotta be honest. I wouldn't wanna see the Sub-par Series, either. The best sport event money can buy. Go small market franchises!

I'd much rather have the money, myself. And I think that SW should pay the full amount they estimated the prize to be worth. What's the point of estimating value of a prize, then?
Sounds like SW simply failed to obtain a pro-forma approval by MLB.

Obviously, so Small World could get a bigger taz write off. This is utterly despicable. It almost makes you want to stop playing SW games. Of all the things they've done (some of which are pretty bad as well), this is easily the worst.
