0 Subject: Seeking help for Philliephan Memorial

Posted by: Guru

I had hoped to produce a memorial page for Philliephan which consolidated a lot of the memories posted here, as well as info on memorial gifts, etc. At a minimum, it would have links to related threads, and a link to it would be placed somewhere near the top of the hockey forum, and perhaps baseball as well, since he was also a solid baseball manager and contributor.

Unfortunately, I've been so caught up in site management issues that I haven't gotten around to it, and I already feel bad about having delayed for this long. Now, with both baseball and Market Madness needing some preparation, I'm ready to appeal to others to help me with the Philliephan effort.

How would one (or more) of you like to put together the Philliephan memorial page? It can be original in design - it doesn't need to be a thread. In fact, it would be better if it were something designed especially for this purpose.

Many of you are quite adept at HTML, and I'm sure you can produce a higher quality product than I would be able to crank out. Once it's done, I can get it linked into the forum, and load it onto the server.

Thanks in advance for your help.

First order of business - how about a volunteer to take charge of the project?

I can work up a few things this weekend and during next week as far as a page design goes. I'll post something once I've got something

Fred, let me know if I can help. Bad schedule for next 8 weeks and I will not be available on a regular basis (good news is, I will make some money)but I will gladly exchange ideas/feedback and such whenever possible.

(think Paul's kid's trust fund)

The "In Memorium" banner hoopsboy put on the new front page of the SW hockey stats site is very nice.

Being nearly blind and somewhat HTML illiterate, I can offer prayers, encouragement, and thanks to KKB, Taxman, & anyone else who contributes to the effort.

Thanks to Guru too.

BUTT

Well, I finally got a chance to get something together, so if you all want to take a look and make suggestions and comments, check it out . Keep in mind that the image of Paul is not the final one.

Speaking of photos, jumpball, can you send me a copy of the image with Paul in it again?

You are very talented and an overall nice guy there, KKB. Good work. I assume his family is okay with all of this? (some prefer privacy). I do not at all imply that you should be the one with the answers or the one asking them the question....my question goes out to anyone reading this thread.

Again...Good job.

Thanks,
- walk

walk, overall I think they're ok with it. All of the information on the site I created was readily available through the Guru's boards and the Hockey Statistics Site, so since this is a site mostly for gurupies, etc. there's nothing really new. It's more of a melting pot of all the information than a posting of new info.

Still, approval should be gotten before it's "finalized".

Most excellent, KKB. When it's complete, give me a heads up so I can get it more formally integrated into the site.

Awesome work KKB! And I'd like to echo Walk's coments as well. Would you---or the community---mind in the near future if I posted a link to this site from one or two of my ( non-sports, but human-interest ) sites to raise it's profile?

Small details you might want to revise:
• December 10, 2000, was a Sunday.
• Children's ages were 14 and 12, respectively, at the time of philliephan's passing (see philliephan, jr's post #137 in the thread linked from your page).

Off to a very nice start, KKB.

Is there any way I can get a list of all the threads that should be linked in the memorial page? Once I have that and make the corrections, it will all be ready to go.

It's still here

I guess Guru and I need to get some time to get the threads integrated in the "PhilliePhan's Phinest". I also have to fix the errors from above, which is no big.
