Subject: Rotowire charging for Service?
Posted by: Mujeriego

Has anyone tried to get on RotoWire lately? Most of the links are down (at least for me) but the error is due to a bad link to a "subscription" service.
Whats up with this? no more free rotowire ... |

$4.99/mo or $59.99/year Explanation of "benefits", etc.

You could try this link Miami Herald. It's not as good as rotowire, but they update it frequently, and that nights injuries usually appear after the games are done.

Well, they sure know how to drive people away. Why would anyone want to pay them when there are other free sites? Who cares about the so-called benefits. I either don't use them, or I can find them for free somewhere else.

I've used them in the past, but have found their site to be lacking. Lots of very old reports. Now which thread was it that had all those links in it. hmmm, off to the filter I suppose.

Yeah, I used it everyday too. Find it to be informative, updated frequently, and very funny at times.
This is too bad. Paying for both fantasy sports sites and fantasy sports news means choosing one or the other.

Yeah you can either be informed and have no where to play or play and have faulty news.
Personally I understand why they want you to pay but it is getting out of control. They need to start hooking sites up and making partnerships. Such as if you pay to play small world you get access to rotowire etc. Also smallworld should set up a yearly membership fee giving you access to say 2 or 3 teams in each sport for a full year. You pay once and then can play as much as you want. But a partership with a service like Rotowire would benefit everyone. Best;

Too bad about Rotowire. This most certainly will spell their doom. They lost a ton of site traffic when they lost their old Rotonews pointer.
Glad I got their scoop about fred Taylor yesterday!!

I don't even think I spend $60 a year playing fantasy sports. I don't understand why anyone would pay this fee when you can get the same info at the websites of local newspapers for FREE. Sure it might take a little extra effort, but it might actually make you a better fantasy player.
I think this is a very interesting move, but i doubt it'll work out. A partnership like Perk talked about probably would've worked better.

Damn - the only reason I play fantasy sports is because they are free. Curses ...

I liked them better as "Rotonews." I used them early last summer for baseball, but found---as described in post #6 perfectly!---that the site was un-relaible and chocked full of pop-ups and unders. I 'spose it's a "dot-com" thing. So many slackers thought they found a magic way to get rich while doing very little. Nice scam, but then the reality of retail sinks in. So now either you pay, or you get soaked by banner adds, flashing neon colours, P/Us, P-unders, "punch-the-monkey-and-win-$20" scams and S*P*A*M*. The whole intenet/money-making thing is still morphing...maybe it will pan-out in about 3-5 more years? I only run two sites now, but they're just for advertising the services rendered. No bogus "free" promises. I treat them like a "1-800" number, or a newspaper add. I don't expect to get rich, just get the message out. ...Wow, sorry for the drift, this has just been a subject that's been in my craw lately.

big deal, there's rototimes, rotogeeks, rotofreaks, rotospeaks, rotobeaks, and rotogaugetheconsumer.
How about the schedule viewer? Now that's got no rivals...or does it?
Thanks, - walk
