Subject: HELP: Denied Access to TSN at work!

Oy veh. Woe is me. Sometime between checking my hockey teams and having lunch, my firm added TSN to its list of taboo internet sites. Their firewall now prohibits me from going to fantasygames.sportingnews.com -- or any derivation thereof. The reason given is "gambling." Perhaps the new pay to play and win monetary prizes in baseball is now construed as gambling?
For five years I played these games whilst at work (and still got all of my work done ahead of time; gotta love windows and multi-tasking).
Well, trades now have to be made in the ill-timed evening, when I am not regularly logged on. It's going to make for an awfully challenging baseball season, let alone the stretch run to hockey.
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
Any suggestions on how to beat this would be greatly appreciated.

Have you try going to the TSN site via another site, such like www.anonymizer.com

Interesting, got in through Netscape but not IE5.0. I wonder if it's only a matter of time. Fingers crossed.

Walk; If you look closely @ Mario LeMoose's reply, you'll see the state name "Maryland" in there, thus nullifying me of any potential prizes ( although I'm still expected to pay through the nose to play! >:-I ). The reason: "Gambling". The State just sees it that way, so I believe that the TSN law trust said "nada." ( Not that I play for prizes anyway...hell, I just play for the competition. ) Also, they have blocked Latin America and Japan from playing their baseball games, which IMHO is a big mistake.Anyway, sorry for the rant, but expect more "changes" like this---and your's---to emerge. I'll be starting "detatchment-theropy" classes soon. ;-}

Walk my man! You have to find a way to fix this problem. I won't have fun playing if you're not around. I'm sure the gurupies around here will come up with something.

If you missed this link in the "TSN: Prize Update" thread of Baseball Forum ... the article's well worth reading (sheds a little light on lottery/gambling laws in relation to fantasy leagues):
Fantasy Sports Leagues: Not All Fun and Games
walk: With all the gambling-related pop-ups and e-mails that Sandbox has been spewing forth recently, as well as their their "Daily Sports Play" contests, I wonder if you'll have a problem accessing that site, too. :-(

THX M! Great article! Maryland has been tight with those 3 criteria ( "(1) consideration paid, (2) for a chance, (3) to win a prize." ) for a while now. Here's a 5 year old article about a similiar online gaming site ordered shut down.

Thanks guys...I've been busy since I started this thread both here and on the baseball boards, but the news is personally good for me (willix, my man!):
1. Thanks to Chicago TRS, I found a successful anonymizer software that allows me to access smallworld.
2. I rebooted my machine to install another piece of anonymizer software and lo and behold I was able to get back into smallworld just like old times.
I hope it was just a glitch. I doubt it, but it whatever, I seem to have found (more than one) way around it. For now!
