Question 1 -- HHOF Who is the first Russian born hockey player to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame? How many NHL games did he play in.
Question 2 -- Obscure Rulings You are watching your favorite team play in a game when they make a blunder and the opposition team gets a breakaway. Their player has a clear unobstructed path to the net, he is skating down the boards when he passes infront of your teams bench. A player on that bench reaches out and clotheslines the player on a breakaway. A scrum of pushing and shoving ensues, nobody throws down the gloves, and when everything finally clears you notice the referee pointing at center ice.
What just happened?
Question 3 -- Hockey History With regards to the NHL, answer the following: What is the purpose of the redline? Has the NHL always had the redline? If no, when was it adopted? What was the redline original intended to do?
Question 4 -- Player History Who is the youngest player to ever play in the National Hockey League?
Question 5 -- more obscure rulings List three different ways that a player on your team can be ejected from the faceoff circle.
Question 6 -- Rookie Salary Cap The 1995 CBA negotiations resulted in the adoption of the rookie salary cap that is meant to restrict the total compensation payable to a player that is playing on his rookie contract(3 years).
Last season Dany Heatley reported earned 4 million dollars, this is 4 times greater than the base amount allowable under the rookie salary cap. Is Bettmans cap ineffective? Has it been circumvented? If Yes, how?
Question 7 -- Waiver Draft During a waiver draft, your favorite team doesnt claim any players from any other teams. How many players, in total could they lose in the draft if they have 15 unprotected skaters and 1 unprotected goalie??
Question 8 -- Expensive Hockey What team had the highest annual average ticket price during the 2001-02 NHL season?
Question 9 -- statistical analysis True or False: A +/- is ONLY awarded for regular strength goals, goals scored in specialty team situations do not result in +/-.
Question 10 -- Entry Draft Eligibility I have two nephews that play hockey in the WHL, both of them are extremely good hockey players that will surely make it into the NHL. They both turn 18 in September of 2003, one has his birthday on the 14th and one has his birthday on the 16th.
In which years entry draft will these players be drafted. Are you sure about that?

10. They'll have been drafted last month because they faked their IDs.
Oh wait. Wrong sport. I guess there aren't any players born in Cuba in hockey.

Well, since no one else seems to want to give the rest a try, I will give them a shot.
#3. 1949 was the first year to see the red line. I may be mistaken but I think it's original use was to prevent rink long passes up to breaking players(2 line passes).
#5. Tough one.
a.)If a player facing-off fails to take his proper position immediately when directed by the Official, the Official may order him replaced for that face-off by any teammate then on the ice.
b.)If a player other than the player taking the face-off moves into the face-off circle prior to the dropping of the puck, then the offending Team's player taking the face-off shall be ejected from the face-off circle.
c.)In the conduct of any face-off anywhere on the playing surface, no player facing-off shall make any physical contact with his opponent's body by means of his own body or by his stick except in the course of playing the puck after the face-off has been completed.
#6. As discussed earlier, the rookie cap outlines a maximum on the actual player salary. But if the rookie meets certain performance criteria, bonus clauses may kick in and thus you get some rookies making alot more than the cap would seem to allow.
#7. I believe no club may lose more than one player in the waiver draft, unless it chooses to offer more players. Each club's one-player loss limit will increase by the number of draft claims it makes against other clubs.
#10. Tough one again. This year, any player born between Sept. 16, 1982 and Sept. 15, 1983 was considered to be 18-years of age and, therefore eligible to "opt-in" to the Entry Draft. So, I assume the same date range will be used in future years. Making one of them eligible in 2004 and the other 2005.

#3 Red Line The redline was actually brought in during WWII, I think it was 1942 actually.
This was part of a rule change on passing to increase the offensive side of the game. Prior to this, the rules allowed no forward passing from one zone to another. So believe it or not the redline was part of a rule change to increase offense.
#5 Correct
#6 Correct
#7 -- Waiver Draft You can lose upto 3 skaters and 1 goaltender in the Waiver draft. If you pick up/claim a player from another team, it goes up. Feasibly you could change around your entire team, every player.
#10 -- Entry Draft Correct. Players must opt in as 18 year olds, since NCAA players lose eligibility if they opt in, most of them dont get drafted till 19 when they are automatically entered.
