Do you think that the NHL is serious about cutting down on obstruction as opposed to just talking big like in previous years?
I for one, would love to see obstruction go way down and perhaps open the game up a bit. But on the other hand, I don't want to see games bogged down by an insane amount of powerplays either. Think the NHL can find a happy medium? |

No. That 'happy medium' can't exsist. Either they call anything that is obstruction (which will likely result in alot of PP's in the beginning of the season) or they don't, and the obstruction continues. The idea in the past was that the players would ajust, and the penalties would come down, but in that reguard it seems the NHL blinked first and started calling less penalties.
Powerplay-fests aren't to be desired, but I think if the NHL is serious about cutting down on obstruction they just have to accept that the first 20-25 games of the season are going to be PP-fests. They can't blink again... Force the players to accept the new rules, or sit in the box. Surely they'd learn sooner or later...
