Hi. As a veteran gurupie I want to remind (motivate) all of those who visit these boards, and particuarly those in the board-laden "eat, sleep, drink nhl" division that TSN posts a "top divisions" standings.

We are not in the top 5 (currently 7th, approx 1600 points behind 1st).

Speaking arrogantly for a minute ;-) I expect us to be #1 by year-end.

So, while I am not saying we should be #1 now (we have to stick with our strategies...whatever they are), I do hope (really expect) us to be #1 "then."

I'd like to think that the collective experience of those managers in our division will propel us to this finish. It is meaningful. We should all be intrinsically motivated (above and beyond our own individual teams) to achieve this goal. Pride in our performance (and justification for the pathetic obsession we call this game).

Then again...let's just win it.

I walk, how exactly does this "divison ranking" works? How are the "ranks" calculated? (by average of all divison members I guess)

I agree that our divison should be first...

Thanks for the motivation!

Have a good week-end!

I believe, Cheval*, that it's the cumulative total of the top 10 teams within a given division, but this is based on what was done in baseball. I think this is the case in hockey, but am not 100% sure.

It would be nice to win it (and in baseball, it was a great hair-raising finish between GuruPatrons and the famous Belly division, with the GuruPatrons winning out in the last week -- either way it was a gurupian division that won it).

Have a good weekend yourself!

C'mon let's get off the pine and start racking up those points. I want the division title! Sure, maybe we were picked on in high school, sure we weren't very popular with the girls, but damnit if we become Ultimate Hockey Division Champs that will be something no one will Ever, and I mean EVER, take away from us. It's our time to shine!! Stand up and be counted!! Let's ROCK and ROLL!!!!!

If they take the cumulative total of the top 10 teams within the division, that means i'm not used in that statistic. But be aware, that I will be up there pretty soon.

There is no reason for us not to be the Champs...so lets go and kick some butt.

Have a good week end !!

I'm not counted either right now for the division positioning. If I ever am, I suspsect we're in more trouble than we realize... ;)

A post on the main TSN hockey boards by Erik said that it was still the top 10 teams in the division that made up the rankings, so its the same system as baseball.

Whoever wins this division will very likely be in line for some of the top prizes as well. So I ask myself again, what am I doing with a team in here?!? ;)

Thanks for the pep talk walk, I totally agree with you, we should be at the top, we spend so many time on this thing we deserve to be at the top....

I hope that I'm going to be part of the calculation pretty soon, I was freakin 27, 3 days ago and now at 14, big thanks to Lecavalier and my gotsy move going Jokinen to Vinny yesterday just before the freeze..... The only thing I need now is staying away from injury....

Have a good weekend everyone....

You go Tuques. I currently aint in the top 10 in our division either, my current "A" team is in an auto-div (e.g on this team I also picked up Vinny...figures). Oh well. I will contribute though, I usually do.

Glad to read the inspiration!

Goal 1 Get to #1 - acchieved
Goal 2 Stay there - in progress

Good work folks, if I only had a clue. Oh well, it's a long year.

Based on average roster values and strength of managers around the 10th ranked manager, I think ESDNHL is in a very strong position.

No way jose... European Hockey League will
win the TSN and there's nothing you can
do about it. We have the advantage of timezones
so we can always spend our days at the office
trading players as the roster freeze is at
1900 hours. ;-)

GM KV A; Glad to see you Eurpoeans on the boards. Welcome. Which team is yours? Hope you guys become regulars and become active in strategy discussions, or BS stuff like whether Modano is more valuable than Forsburg etc.

IMHO it is not near as important as to when you make the trade as to whom you trade in to.

We will pass you.

That was quick. ;)

Should be a good battle all year. Doesn't look like any other divions will catch us two, so good luck to you guys. :)

I have to agree with KV Avalance. It's morning in Europe when the last (west coast) game ends. So we see the results from tv before we go to work. At work we probably excange emails with our friends. Before we leave the office at 5-6 pm we have time to check out the latest news.

Basically we have a hole day time to think about trades, when you have "only" a morning.

Of course things are not that easy, because you usually want to stick with your general stategy....

Well, quite pleased with beeing in two out of four top divisions, but not ESDNHL... :-)

Always fun to have a good competition! But of course I am betting on the winners...EHL!

The gap is widening, over 3,000 pts, $3M average roster value and a buncha trades in hand over EHL.

Good job by those who are contributing.

Wow - I think I'll savory the moment. I've never lead a gurupie division before. I'm sure it won't last long. Unfortunatey, I have yet to crack the top 50 so it's more a case of Dan coming back towards me than me moving up to catch him.

Thanks to a solid effort by my centers (Koivu, Modano, White) and outstanding goal-keeping (Lalime, Belfour), I had a great night.

I'm enjoying the competition at the top quite a bit! There have been a few lead changes over the past few weeks, and would like to applaud the whole division for their effort, we all look real good. Well the season's half way through, I've enjoyed the first half thus far, let's hope for an equally enjoyable second half! Go Gurupies!
