0 Subject: Price Changes over the Holidays

Will there be a freeze over the 24-26th or will price changes occur as per normal? Not a great big deal, but I was just wondering.

From the rules: "At 12pm EST on every gameday during the regular season except Wednesday, October 9th, the first day of the season, when the roster freeze will be at 7pm EST."

This actually leaves a lot open to interpretation. If TSN were to follow the rules as they are written, with a strict interpretation, there would be no price changes on 12/24 and 12/25. There would be price changes on 12/26.

Also, again using strict interpretation, there would not be price changes during the ASB on:
01/31
02/01
02/02
02/03

Looks like an "official" TSN response is in order.

How about this from the "learn to play" page.

When do price updates happen?

Beginning on Thursday, October 10th, prices for players are updated based upon the previous day of trading activity every day at 12pm EST. The only exception to this will be the Christmas break (12/24-12/25) and the All-Star break (1/31-2/3), as there are no games on these days.

Ah-HA! So it looks like the strict interpretation is the one to use.

ok, that ain't cool, TSN better do some serious work to make this right. I purposely waited to make any moves because there were not supposed to be price changes!

I'm sending Erik an email...

Yeah, this is stupid, after a crappy 108 points last night I wanted to make some big changes to my team.... but instead I lose 170 000!!! This ain't right!

Is anyone playing fantasy basketball, if so, are they supposed to have a price change today?

Methinks, they did, but they expected to.

I'm sure the guys at TSN would like to get home for Christmas . . . so they may not fix this right away. I was planning on holding off til Thurs. A.M. to make a trade (ST.Louis->Stillman) . . but may make it before noon tomorrow if we haven't heard about a solution. Would be a $100 gain based on today's price changes.

I doubt very much that this will be fixed now.

It seems similar to that one time where some player's price went up 3 million... TSN went back and changed that so I don't see why they can't do it now.

Cuz that $3M gain would seriously screw up the game. But this would not seriously cripple anybody.

For people who didn't go Allison, Belfour, St. Louis -> Lemieux, Weekes, Stillman, thinking they could wait a few days before making the moves, it's a loss of 350K in roster value. It won't cripple a team but it isn't fair that some teams get the 350K and others don't when the rules clearly state there will be no price changes. I didn't make any trades yesterday because I didn't want other teams in my division to see my roster moves for Thursday. If they don't fix the prices, will there be more price movement tomorrow?

I agree there should not have been any price changes, per the rules. However with the ability to make moves thru the break the price moves will still be there only not seen until the market opens on the 26th. It really is more of a timing issue at this point because of the people that would have moved players towards the end of the break. I could be wrong but all that needs to happen is TSN moves everyone back to the 23rd then adjust the RV on the 26th. They could either let the acummulated trades move the market in a big swing or avg. the movement over the two day break. All in all we have seen what the potential market may be on the 26th and that is not a bad thing if TSN plays by the rules.
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

Since TSN knows about the error, I can't see them letting the price changes go through again tomorrow. But it is the holidays . . .and maybe nothing will be done . . . so I'm making my trades now just in case it gets me that increased RV.
Vokuon ->Weekes
St.Louis->Stillman

Since these 2 trades would seem to net me +$250k in RV I don't want to take the chance of missing out on another days Price movement.

Ira Ira Ira... When will you learn?

The statement you just made has virtually the same flaw as your 85-million-dollar statement. Without any explanations, the statement does not convince anybody.

You're 14 now. People don't believe right away every statement that you make. You've got to explain yourself.

Ira, you may be correct if you are comparing Weekes to Roy/Joseph/Lalime etc. . . . but I'm not selling them, I'm selling Vukoun.
I expect Weekes to play only 2 games in the next 7 days (Atl & NYR), and hope he goes up about $250K in RV and gets me 120 TSNPs
Vukuon plays 3 games during the same time, but vs Dal, Det & Ott. He could very well end up minus points for the week.
I would rather have had Roy/Joseph/Lalime etc. but selling Vukuon doesn't give me enough cash for that. I'm hoping Weekes is in the same form as before his injury and turns into a long term cheap point producer in my Goalie position.

So basketball gets fixed and hockey is still left to wonder what the result of all this is. I guess it's pretty obvious what TSN thinks of hockey.

What bothers me the most about this entire situation is that TSN has yet to make a public response or even to publicly acknowledge the situation exists. Outside of an email from J (and I'm not sure we can trust those FSU grads ;) that says they were "looking into [it]" we have nothing. Is it going to be rolled back? Is it going to stand? Will there be a Price Change today?

As I posted in the TSN Forums, if I were playing this game, I would be concerned about the lack of response, holidays or no. Customer service doesn't take a day off when your products don't take a day off.

Merry Christmas to all!

I've got a team that is RV based, but I'm gonna cross my fingers and hope there are no changes today. Wish I would've known as well as I would've made some trades yesterday, but now I don't have the time.

well damn.

Prices got updated again today. I actually did go in and make a few trades since I kinda figured TSN would let us down.

I almost went ahead and made some moves for you too, smallwhirled, but I figured I probably shouldn't.

Rats . . moved Belfour on one team, but kept him on other 2.

Weekes +150K, Belfour -$90K
Stillman +90K StLouis -$100K

I made my trades today and got the Weekes $$ . . .but I still hope they adjust the $$ and roll back the last 2 day's changes.

I assume that seeing these changes will influence a lot of managers who weren't planning on buying Weekes to go Belfour->Weekes . . . and tomorrows price swing will be even greater.

What a mess. Missed out on at least 600K in gains so far, and lost about another 300K in drops. Almost a 1 mil swing, all because TSN couldn't follow their own rules. Ugh.

Well now that really stinks. I took a few days and ignored my teams as per the rules quoted abiove. Now today I log in to make my adjustments and find out I was scr@wed by a midstream change. My roster values were poor going into the break and this is really crap. I lost about $300,000 over the 2 days instead of making it. Just took $500-600,000 off my roster value.
I paid to play this game!!!

Guys, Gang ... and other TSN terms of endearment:

Guess what's happening—and what's not supposed to happen—this weekend.

Clue: See #2 above by Dr. Doom.
