I wish the Hawks could have gotten more for him. Then again, unloading his salary probably wasn't such a bad payoff. How do the Rangers plan on paying him?

Boris Mironov doesn't have much trade value at all. The Hawks should be glad they got a 4th rounder off the Rangers instead of something lower. The Hawks trade away Mironov when his value is at his all-time low, but there isn't much the Hawks could do about it before his value sinks even lower.

"The Rangers will assume about half of Mironov's $3.3 million US salary."

When you have a disgruntled player, sometimes it's best to just let him go for whatever you can get for him. NYR get a good player at 1/2 the cost plus a 4th rounder. That's about as cheap as they come nowadays.

Of course Mironov comes at half the price, KKB... There's only half the season left.

The Rangers are buying every player in sight. Don't they realize that most of the guys they have signed have already played their best hockey?

Hey Glen, no matter how hard you rub the bottle no Genie is coming out.

You know the Rangers suck when you get bounced from ESPN2 to show the Wild/Kings game...

Boris has 2 assists already today. I don't expect this type of thing to be a regular occurance, but on day one, it looks good...

Mirinov is a cry baby, he was mad about ice time and the difference between him and our top Dmen was like 90 seconds a game if I remember right.
Also I liked the way Smith and Sutter were on the same page. The Hawks have not paid him since he walked out on the team and Sutter did not want him back. The Hawks are better off with out him and a fourth rounder is not bad. I bet the only thing the Hawks will say about this trade is that they moved on weeks ago. That this is just the paper work finishing up the job.

TLW, true, but since Mironov has only played 20 games this season, you could say that HIS season is only 1/3 over.

Of course, he sat out the other 20 games or something like that and he already lost that much salary.

I dunno...

Since the rangers are so thin at defense, thanks to injuries, I have no problem with this signing. Mironov will work well with compatriot Malakhov, too. Money notwithstanding, okay, my CATV bill might increase another 35 cents now, the move makes sense for both teams.

Walk your right the move makes sense for both teams. NYR needs healthy players but do you think Boris is going to get more than 20 min a game? He averaged just over 19 with Hawks and walked out, will he do the same in NY? I don't think so I think he made a play for more time in Chicago, it back fired and he realizes his value has been hurt because of it.

I dunno how many minutes he will get, but if he is dissatisfied and walks out, he walks out. No harm done. We have so much NYC turmoil everyday on our teams it would be like hailing a taxi. You know how we in NYC are immune to stuff, well, the players are used to crap, too, here. However, I do not think BoMo will pull any of that crap this season -- there is usually a honeymoon effect with a new team.
