0 Subject: To Mario or not To Mario

That is the question of the week. The schedule is not great, but the price gains and the points could be significant.

On my roster, my centers are Forsberg, Thorton, Koivu.. All of whom have been playing great and except for Thorton, have solid schedules... I have enough bankroll to trade any one of the three to get Mario, but don't know if I want to use the trade.... If I do trade, I'm strongly considering Thorton as he would likely be traded on the 9th anyway with a 1 in 5 starting that day....

Any thoughts? What is everyone else doing about the "Super" one?.....

I can only afford that move from either Thornton or Forsberg, and neither move excites me for points. Forsberg's schedule is great; Thornton's schedule is better than Mario's. Mario has games on the 4th, 6th, and 8th, and then 3 days off.
Is the money gained worth the trade? Tough call, but I will save that trade for a better opportunity. Let's see where I stand on the 12th, when Mario comes back from that 3 day break.

Boston has a great schedule starting the 14th, so I'm holding Thornton.

Colorado's schedule is great this week, then average for a week, then really picks up on the 20th, just when Koivu's goes to the crapper...

Pittsburgh's schedule is mediocre until the 12th, when they start a 3-in-4. Thats followed by a 1-in-4, which then gives way to the best schedule in the league for 3 weeks. (Starting the 20th.)

So right now here's what I'm thinking:

Forsberg -> Mario on the 12th
Koivu -> Forsberg on the 20th.
Keep Thornton.
Possibly looking at Straka on the 20th too.

My defense is MacInnis/Gonchar/Blake, but will look at Tarnstrom on the 12th and the 20th as well. Might need the cash to upgrade Koivu to Forsberg...

Great Analysis Rogue. I'm eyeing Tarnstrum as well, but for me, I'll be spending more cash as I'll be getting him from either Havelid (PP time likely to diminish due to the Ozo signing) or Rachunek... On the 8th, I'll be freeing some cash as I will trade out of Nasland for ????

As for Mario.. I'm still Torn... I'll likely hold off until the 3 in 4 myself, but we'll see...

I plan on sticking with what has gotten me here. Short term trades on my Centers while I go long-term at W.

I'll almost definitely grab Mario in the morning, and probably over Forsberg at this point. I'm a few trades away from grabbing the 3HM there, but then I won't be able to use the trades to swap for RV gains.

Still not sure if I wanna give up on Blake, though. He's been a real diamond for me (thanks J). I'd probably have to swap over to Kip to get the monster but I don't think it's worth it.

So, for now, I'll say Lindros > Mario over Forsberg.

I'm gonna long-term wing it here. I usually never do this, but I've got some time on my hands and this hockey season is getting quite interesting.

I'm going to try to set up 3HM of Mario, Forsberg, Thornton by the 12th.

To get there, I'll need to work this in:

Lindros > Mario > Forsberg (yes here I'm going to gamble with Mario and waste essentially one trade because I'm such a homer. :))
Thornton (should be in and out of Allison for a 3 to 1 coming plus money gains)
Blake > Mario (the 12th for the beginning 3 in 4)

Hossa > becomes a long term winger that I like in the morning, considering Kariya and a few others
Naslund becomes most likely a mid to cheapie to fund for the 3HM

Dmen are studs of my choice

Cloutier > Turco when the bleeding stops to free up some cash
Hackett

Just put $70 million in hockey talent on the ice, but I can't quite swing Mario without two more trades. I've got Forsberg, Thornton and Lindros at center supported by Murray, Jagr, Hejduk and Miller at wingers. Put a bit of money into defense with Gonchar, MacInnis and Hamrlik with Lalime and Hacket in goal. My coming trades will be spent handling Boston's short-term schedule gap between 2/9 and 2/13.

That's a long way to say, I hope Mario doesn't produce for a few more games;-)

My problem right now is Hossa > ?
I have karyia, jagr and Langenbrunner for Wingers.

I too am going to skip out on Mario because I have thornton, Forsberg, and Koivu for Centres.

I personnaly took the chance on Mario, I had Nedved who got me decent point for 12 days, and if Mario produce today, I'll get the pts and the money will follow....

I am not a fan of Hejduks schedule based on his opponents. I have hackett and thornton so I don't want to have that match up - don't like the detroit games either. I also have forsberg, so I hate loading up on to many players from the same team. It may be a wierd strategy but it has worked thus far.

I also have Turco, but may hold because I enjoy having extra money on my wingers. I have 5+ mill in the bank though.

Hejduk vs. Detroit. That's fine differentiation in my book. Most teams should have him, it's not really a bad strategy, IMO. Just gotta find that other winger...

My thoughts are with iginla, naslund (3 in 4 and then a quick out), Phi winger, or selanne or nolan. Cal, phi and san seem to have a good 2 week schedule.

I just went to Kariya to get my Mario money. To get where I want to be, I'll need to get St. Louis (I also really like him), but has a 1 in 5 coming. I might blow another trade to avoid that hole and get him by the 12th, where his sked is identical to Boston.
