I think I'll agree with Hellvis on this one.
I haven't seen a 620k swing since the days of weekly trading, and that's three seasons ago.

Yeah, but that's the chance you take when you purchase a guy with the huge ownership tag. You just have to be aware of the selloff date. I'm not playing basic, but I thought I saw some posts about his cheap price and good sked which made everyone draft him, and I guess yesterday was the time to sell.

Hat trick for Iginla. I'm not sure what the rules for scoring are in basic game, but in Ultimate he's up to 177 points. Are there daily roster changes in Basic? People who dumped him look foolish now :-)

Hahaha
I was going to hold Iginla until I sensed the huge drop. So I traded a hat trick for $950k.
A PPG, SHG, GWG, HT, +2 and however many shots he took... That's gotta be quite a few SWP. And the game isn't over yet.

All he needs now is a penalty shot and an empty-netter for the Mario Grand Slam.

And don't forget his roughing penalty!

Sweet redemption for holding him through >$1 mil in price drops over the last 3 days. I *really* don't understand why everyone traded him *before* his back-to-back with soft teams.

Basic, shmasic. Since I have two ulitmate teams, I give a lot less attention to my basic team and figured I would hold Iginla trough his volatility for the season -- he is hot. I was rewarded two times now. It's lucky to be inattentive/

Now the question is - is a potential 200 TSNP night (shared with virtually no one - talk about a differentiation pick!) worth the $1 mil loss in RV?

Walk is right about volatility - there were huge price drops in Basic just before his last hat trick too (of course, they seem like wee dips now, now that the scale for price drops has forever been changed). Do you think he plays Basic and responds to price drops with huge nights on the ice?

In any case, I just love that he's twice rewarded me with 200 TSNP nights following big price drops.

Well, for those who bought him at the beginning of the season, you haven't lost much money at all. The losses the last few days were all from the money he gained the previous week.

Well, he got the empty netter to bring his goal total to 4 - no penalty shot for the Mario Grand Slam though - but I am certainly not complaining!

I don't think a 4 goal night was worth the $1M in savings. The TSNP Calculator has him at 216 TSNP, which would be the 4th highest total of any player for the entire season in hockey.

Definitely worth the money losses, IMO.

Oh poor guy... Came so close to a Mario Slam. I suppose the penalty shot is the toughest to get.

He finishes with 236 TSNP:
4 goals 100
Hat trick 50
SHG 20
PPG 10
10 SOG 20
+3 30
2 PIM 6
Total 236

Not a bad night's work :-)

I wonder if that's a record for TSNP in one game this season. Anybody know?

An overlooked but important detail here - this was against Sean Burke in his return from injury. I wonder if Burke is rusty or Iginla that hot...I have Burke on my Yahoo team. Anyone see the goals?

The hat trick is 30 points, but he got the GWG for another 20 so vlad's 236 is still correct.

Yep, I was confused between hat trick (30) and shutout (50). GWG must be what the earlier Calculator page didn't include - they count it once the game is final.

The game hadn't registered as "Final" yet when I posted, so the GWG was awarded and now he's at 236.

However, that's not the record for the season. The top score for the season belongs to Jaromir Jagr with 269 on 01/11. Iginla's 236 now ranks 2nd, just above Marian Hossa's 227 on 01/02 (the night OTT didn't get paid) and Marian Gaborik's 226 on 10/26.

So now the top 4 first names read:
Jaromir
Jarome
Marian
Marian

Kind of funny when you look at the similarity in the names.

especially considering those aren't exactly common names, even in the NHL!

I looked it up - that Jagr performance was a 7-point night for him, in a game the Caps beat Florida 12-2.

Hey KKB...
just out of curiosity... was Iginla's $620K price drop in Basic the one day record for this year? Anyone else come close? Tarnstrom, Turco?

That $620k drop is the biggest drop since Smallworld turned the hockey pool from weekly-trading to daily-trading pool three seasons ago.

I don't remember anybody who came close to dropping $400k, let alone $620k.

Yeah, the $620k drop is a record from what I can recall. Unfortunately, I don't save the pricing data the same way as the points data (source difference), so I can't retrieve the info as quickly, but I don't recall seeing anything even close to that, not even in the last 2-3 years, as TLW pointed out.

In baseball Helling took quite a dip to start one year, I think around 500K.

Wow, just checked in on my basic team and was pleased that I held him. He and Oates got me over 300 points.

Iginla's value is starting to drop again in Basic. -$20K yesterday, -$60K today, despite his 3 games in 4 days schedule starting today.

I used to be concerned about Jarome's price drops but now I know his price has to drop so he can score hat tricks. :-) (if I remember correctly, he dropped at least $100K before each of his last 2 hat tricks)

Just don't do it tonight against my hometown leafs, Jarome. :-)
